It wasn't that people didn't believe it per se, Okubo confirmed in an interview shortly after SCV was released that they were both separate people but I think there are too many similarities for the fans to not make the connection. Okubo could have also been trolling us so this could be used as a plot device for future games (Hence SCVI).

Wow I don't own SC6, but I'm impressed with the amount of detail and writing they put into each character's story arc. Even though it's all done simplistically through talking portraits. This is probably the most effort they put into a fighting game's story. Sacrificing fully animated cutscenes for a bigger, more fleshed out script with more voice acting.
Honestly Raphael and Amy have the most beautiful story: A man that lost everything and found new meaning in a poor girl that he now devotes his life to protecting, and a girl that shielded herself from emotional attachment but eventually realizes that what she wants most is to be with him. Raphael even developed as a person, giving care to the poor, while Amy cautiously let people in by the end of the story. Honestly if they were the main plot of SC throughout, I would be completely for it.
I really think Raphael and Amy should get themselves a sole story as well. Raphael and Amy's story would be a bittersweet story as well. She wants nothing more than to spare her adoptive father. While he wishes to give her a world she can feel safe to open and embrace. As much as I adore Killik and Xianghua... I feel a story like Amy and Raphael could take the two swords in a new direction. How one's stasis of a happy life vs. The desired change for a happy life clashes. Both people care for each other but their goals clash over a single over-arching reason. The desire for a happy life.

Amy’s story is one of like a rose. As a young child. She was but a bud. A hard shell to the cold, and cruel world. As Raphael came across her. He was able to give her the nurture needed to blossom. A living doll absent of emotion finally opening. We see that without Raphael, she may be prey to devious insects like Azwel. Her transformation to Viola is a possibility with this sign of timeline conflicts. Undoubtedly Azwel is trying to push her on the path that led to corruption and malfestation. She has to be corrupted by the Cursed Sword. And it’s likely this path has been set.
If they feature Amy in future games I want to see a version of her that combines her fencing style as Amy and her magic-orb flinging style as Viola. They could take away some moves from both styles or just merge the two styles completely

I thought Yoshimitsu's story as well as Groh's, Siegfried's, Sophitia's, and the main story line were the best. But Amy's is my favorite story line. It is the best story I've seen and played so far.

There's no telling how many times the sword has changed forms and hands throughout the ages, but it's more than certain that wherever Soul Edge was present, Soul Calibur was around too.
After Algol died by creating the Soul Calibur, the cult of the Guardians of the Spirit Sword was founded in order to make Soul Calibur powerful enough to destroy Soul Edge. They lend the Spirit Sword to several chosen ones in order to fight Soul Edge. King Arthur was one of these chosen ones and his charisma left such an impression to some member of the Guardians that they decided to get seperated from their cult and creating the Aval Organization, thinking that one day King Arthur would be back from the dead.

I agree that Maelys is pretty great, and I'm hoping she's a new playable character in SCVII with the grieve edge moveset from 3. It would be pretty disappointing if she is just an NPC that tags along with Amy in the story.

It would be nice to make her a playable character, but it could end just as a NPC. Right now I made her in CAS using Zasalamel's style.
marienbard was one of the few remaining members of the clan of soul calibur protectors that zasalamel belonged to in his first life alongside jaqueline and auguste if i recall correctly. also, marienbard and crew have never met amy, they are raphaels minions specifically for this journey. it makes sense that they would introduce a new character to be amys governess. though i have my theories about what role maelys will play in sc7

Starting right after Soul Edge in the prologue cinematic, the main story being the events of SC1, then the rest of the Soul Chronicles being set at various points up until the events of SC3. And Amy's SC6 costume is just a fancied version of her SC3 costume, the only major difference being that the outer dress doesn't flow behind her in 6 and the addition of her cloak. It's much more obvious if you look at Amy's artwork from 3, rather than her in-game model.

Yes. I was thinking that Star could be Viola, tho Algol has a good chance too. Then, I also thought she can be Stone, which could be a reference to her orb. I hope so. I would be very disappointed if we got Rock who is not even popular instead of Viola, which with just one game she became popular as shown in the character poll.
I still don't think she is either. It's just too obvious. I mean I would hope that's not the extent of the story telling skills of Namco to make a cop out like that so obvious. So my theory, Amy is not Viola in this alternate timeline. I feel like Azwel probably just took some of Amy's memories and created a soulless doll- i.e. Viola. Maelys character was so cool, but I wish they would have introduced Marienbard in that character instead of her.
Marienbard is canonically a bandit that Raphael defeats and converts to his side during the plot of SCIV, so it wouldn't make any sense. I agree that Maelys is pretty great, and I'm hoping she's a new playable character in SCVII with the grieve edge moveset from 3. It would be pretty disappointing if she is just an NPC that tags along with Amy in the story.
@@anothervoice2892 . Marienbard's origin with Raphael could had been retconned in this reboot, just as they did with Tira's double personality or Viola's nexus with Azwel.
Now talking about Maelys character, it intrigues me, I dont think it is coincidence that the developers decided for her to tag along with Amy in her quest. Maybe they are planning something with her. It would be nice to make her a playable character, but it could end just as a NPC. Right now I made her in CAS using Zasalamel's style.
marienbard was one of the few remaining members of the clan of soul calibur protectors that zasalamel belonged to in his first life alongside jaqueline and auguste if i recall correctly. also, marienbard and crew have never met amy, they are raphaels minions specifically for this journey. it makes sense that they would introduce a new character to be amys governess. though i have my theories about what role maelys will play in sc7

Something tells me me we're going to see Viola again in the next game or DLC. If you look closely in 34:58, inside Awzel's orb shows Viola. But what does it mean? Why did Azwel show Viola to Amy? God, now I'm anxious to see what's next to come for Soul Calibur.
Amy is Viola. We don't know why but she lost her memories after 4. Also, Raphael died during 4 and his body was posesed by soul edge. He is knighmare in 5.

@@jcd_1991 SCII, SCIII and SCIV all happened in rather quick succession. Her current costume's similarity to her SCIII suggests that _this_ story leads right into her (minor) role SCIII's story.
@@Kenmiester2012 Correction on my part, I was thinking of her Purple outfit which is from III but I wrote SC2 my bad. I think it's the opposite (from her SCIII role to this). Since this is more akin to her SCIV outfit but looks younger. So it would seem that the sequence would be 2,3,6,4? I'm just guessing.
@@jcd_1991 6 is a retelling of the events of 1 until 3. Starting right after Soul Edge in the prologue cinematic, the main story being the events of SC1, then the rest of the Soul Chronicles being set at various points up until the events of SC3.
And Amy's SC6 costume is just a fancied version of her SC3 costume, the only major difference being that the outer dress doesn't flow behind her in 6 and the addition of her cloak. It's much more obvious if you look at Amy's artwork from 3, rather than her in-game model.
I think Soul Calibur has came a long way with the story telling & such. Granted after the shit show of SC5's story, which I was disappointed with but SC6 story put everything to prespective

I still don't think she is either. It's just too obvious. I mean I would hope that's not the extent of the story telling skills of Namco to make a cop out like that so obvious. So my theory, Amy is not Viola in this alternate timeline. I feel like Azwel probably just took some of Amy's memories and created a soulless doll- i.e. Viola. Basically an aged clone or replica to screw with Raphael and make him even madder. His goal obviously is to really use Raphael, by attacking Amy. He even basically said it during the second encounter with Amy.
Amy does lose her memory. Go to 39:35. It tells you about her losing her memory and also azwel used his orb to see into Amy's future. Meaning in the future she becomes viola
This is also the reason viola and Raphael have special dialogue in sc5
