I'm excited to see the new members, but one thing I love about your channels and even Jacques, is the ability to make mistakes and laugh about them. I don't love the idea of having "experts" if it becomes too serious. I like the fun and loose educational videos that you and your current team provide. I'm still very hopeful that it will stay that way. Stay happy and heathy out there my friend.

Kevin, just think of how well-positioned you were to ride that rocket. That was the result of hard work, man. I can't tell you how many of your videos have shown up as "optional content" in my Hort classes at Oregon State. That's a job well done. I was in a similar position in my work but I had to take a sabbatical a little over a year ago. We did the hard thing and then things had to shift. It's OK. Hey Kevin, I'm glad you are taking a look into what *truly* makes you excited and happy to talk about and focusing into that for the videos you are in. All areas of gardening can be interesting but certain things just makes a person psyched to talk about it. I think what draws most people to a channel is the infectious happiness a person exudes over their passion and you are great at that. When running a large channel like this one, it seems it can become overwhelming when so many people want some many different types of content that maybe you aren't super confident about or ,maybe at times, aren't all that "excited" to get into at the time. So, this "shift", I guess, where you get other people involved to talk about their happy passion area is awesome. It lets you take care of yourself better, focus on your exact passions (with the added benefit of maybe learning from an expert in a new area) and also doing "right" by the subscribers with our many wants. I hope that makes sense and I am excited for you and how it all pans out :)

I'm from San Diego (92154) so I love to hear your ideas because we pretty much share the same type of climate. I started watching you because I was interested in how to make my (very) small space grow enough food to supplement what I have to purchase. While you have seriously outgrown anything I could manage on my small patch of ground I still enjoy watching the progress you are making. I can almost take small bit of knowledge and modify it for my needs. What I would LOVE to see in the unused space you have is some experimentation with keyhole gardening. I live in a condo and can't install a rainwater catch system. I don't have enough area for a dedicated compost bin. I don't have monetary resources for much other than passive. I can't spare any space to try this on my own and risk a season's worth of food. I would love to see how this system works for real and you are never afraid to show what works and what doesn't.

You have to do youtube in a way that is sustainable, and if it isn't fun it isn't sustainable! Super stoked on what you have planned and I'll be here to watch it. Gardening and homesteading has changed my life. Got away from fast food, lost 55lbs, and I am exponentially happier than I was before finding this lifestyle!

The boys did a fine job laying out your surprise garden path & experimental garden. That path looks great with all the little scenic patches! You got yourself a little piece of heaven! Kevin you just need to relax, go slow, & sit back! It seems like you are over estimating what should be, could be, and want to be. Slow down, nothing is certain in life! ❤

I’m a proud epic gardening OG. Started following you just before the pandemic and like many others my interest in gardening took off during the pandemic. It all started with your dragonfruit videos at your the old house. Watched those videos over and over again and I was able to successfully grow and harvest my own dragonfruit. Always look forward to new content you out out. Keep up the good work!

OG epic girl here. Have loved your videos! We’re always learning about gardening and that’s some of the fun for me. I’m so excited for the homestead!! Would love to see experimental stuff. So excited for you and the team. Artichokes are looking good, so green! By the way, there is a topical stabilizer for DG in case the wheelbarrow digs into the DG. It’s going to be so cool to meet new people and see tours of places you’ve researched. Cheers Kevin and thanks for putting so much effort in your videos.

Kevin! I’m so excited for these upcoming projects. I found you in the beginning when I was interested in hydroponics for a project at my school (I’m a teacher ❤). I have watched you and your skills and garden grow and fell in LOVE with your content. I’ve always loved to grow flowers, my Mom taught me young, but I’ve expanded to edibles, houseplants, snd succulents. I have loved following your journey. Jacques is awesome, too! I’m here for it all! Be well and thank you. I’m gonna KEEP ON GROWING! ❤❤❤❤

❤ this! You can only know what you want, from experiencing life, and seeing from that experience things you work for you, what what doesn't. So that's why I love your channels so very much, because you let us in on your experience, the good and bad, and we get to learn right along with you in our own personal journey. I found you in March 2020 and have stayed because you offer great content, but it is your attitude that makes it worthwhile. I've loved all of the people you have introduced me to, but it is your vision that keeps it fresh and exciting to watch. Keep taking good care of yourself, and you will never run out of ideas and people to create great things with. And keep on growing, Kevin!!! 🎉

I have learned so much about gardening form watching not only you, but all of the other gardener's you've introduced on the channel. My mom is a life long gardener and saw my less than one year old garden for the first time this weekend and gasped, saying it was a miracle that we've had so much success! Thank you for continuing to spread your knowledge and introducing us to more gardeners to learn from!

Wow, so excited to see what you've got coming up this year! I have to say, when you talked about the skunks invading our garlic bed I fully commiserated. Skunks have been the bane of my garden for about two years now. I'm mostly a container gardener so chicken wire has saved me, and they have seemed to gravitated to other spaces. But then the feral cats and rats and squirrels have definitely tried to pick up the slack!! Oh well!

Hello from this long-time subscriber/follower out here in Kentucky 👋 This video has me so excited for what is to come on the channel and happy for you that you’re able to get back to the fun and joy in the garden! It’s been awesome to see each phase of your journey from the container garden of your old home all the way to now, and I’m thrilled to see where it goes from here (especially a native garden?!? So sick!!!). I’m glad you have the help and support you need to keep doing your thing. In the words of a pretty cool dude, keep on growing. We’ll be here with ya ✌️

Wow it’s crazy hearing you say this… Recently I’ve really felt attracted exactly to what you described (being in nature, chilling out, growing stuff, sharing it with friends, learning new skills…) and I saw you as a role model, as someone who had the same dream but was “making it work” creating the Epic Gardening business. So yeah, thank you for being so vulnerable and showing us the reality of how you feel about it. I absolutely support your decision on having more gardeners on the channel! It will be great for everyone, you’ll have more time for any activities you desire and we’ll still get great content! Trying new things always brings exciting times, I’m sure whatever’s coming will be something amazing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ thanks for everything

I’m excited about the addition of more gardening specialist this would be a great way for us to have you university style info on a free scale. I think this is amazing. I will definitely keep watching and subscribing keep adding more people and I will keep coming back because I like the idea of having a teaching base With the allowance of error. Well, you explore the world of gardening. My dad always said if you don’t allow yourself to make an error, you won’t learn the more important lessons that stick with you. What else is experimenting for but the best part is when you manage to figure out how to go through those errors and get things done the rewards as a garden will show our delicious.

For that area you are making plans for, what about a gazebo and mixed plantings of trees, berry bushes, and vines around the gazebo itself, veggies sporadically planted in beds with flowers. Just a big mish mash of perennial edibles and plants for beauty. No rows, just kind of random. Just a thought. Love how beautiful your new paths came out. Looking forward to the new year.

Kevin! I think the additions have been great and I very much look forward to them all. You, however, like it or not, ARE the Epic Gardener. If you are not fully present introing, outroing, commenting, etc. it just won't be the same. Please do continue to be present to maintain the Epic Gardening "company culture" if you will. You and Jacques have made an amazing pair and have set steep expectations for Epic Gardening content. I'm sure there are others out there that can blend right in while still bringing their own special something to the mix but please be picky and listen to viewer feedback. I love you guys!

Here that would all disappear overnight 😮 I've got 11 fruit trees in my little orchard so far lol about the size of your orchard area. One of the best things we can do for others is admit when we are struggling - it lets other know that it's ok. Making mistakes and failing is exactly how we learn and that's evident to anyone who gardens. Because I cam across your videos, I'm not planting a large part of my yard (1/2 acre) as a native species/pollination friendly area and am looking forward to even getting Canadian Wildlife Federation backyard certified! We've also branched out out veg gardening and have had our best years yet! Keep on doing what you do best and sharing your love of nature.
I'm not sure if you've ever thought of this, but what if you visited viewers gardens (even locally!)? You could riff on how to make things better, get inspiration yourself and just get to experience the joy that you bring to others through gardening, filling your cup back up

Trying to channel some of your energy. I'm in the desert SW and in years past have always been able to have a winter garden never needed a cover even for frost. This year, had about 1/3 of my total garden area planted. About 2 weeks ago had a group of probably 30 quail come in and eat all my bok choy that was about 6-8 inches tall. Ordered some light ag fabric to cover it, but before it got in they came back and ate all my spinach and young kale plants. I hadn't had time to build row covers and they came back and ate all my cilantro. Thinking they were done since all my young plants were gone, I didnt build any covers. They came back and completely ate my huge Brussels sprouts and kale plants that I had planted in october of 2022 and have surprisingly been growing since then. I now have no winter garden, but the quail ate good. I had been stressing about the quail when they first showed up, then about not having anything planted/growing. My wife had to reel me back in and remind me that our garden has always been my stress relief, and now I'm trying to take advantage of having a bare garden. I can rearrange beds, clean up, build row covers, and get ready to replant in a couple weeks. Kind of a "fresh start" since nothing is established. Anyway, thank you for all your videos, knowledge, and inspiration. 👍

Kevin, your channel is epic edutainment, so I watch for the info and stay for the fun. I’m in zone 6b so a lot does not relate, but maybe emphasize the importance of pollinators other than honey bees…Your native plant space is a great opportunity for that. Several years ago, I ripped out my front lawn and planted all pollinator plants. Now my front yard is the prettiest in the neighborhood. My backyard is mostly veggies. I’ve been gardening over 10 years too, but I still learn stuff from you! Thanks! Also, maybe a topic idea: how do you go about replacing a failing Birdies raised bed (end of life) when there is little to no extra space available? Looking forward to watching your expanding crew and all your creative videos. 😀
