I am shocked the bus driver didn't say anything, especially with COVID and the fear of a 'cluster' outbreak. The real disdain I reserve for the media. It was covered for a few weeks on the 'early' news but nothing since January. Daybell has consistently been covered but not a child missing in our own back yard?

I agree, with one possible reservation. The fact that Moldovan culture features widespread fear and distrust of police might have demotivated Diana from contacting the police. But this failure to report, plus a slew of other suspicious components (acting normal at the restaurant and having excuses for why Madalina was missing, burning couch cushions and other items in the backyard, etc.), make me highly suspicious of Diana as well as her husband. I hope Madalina is found alive and well.

My mom is an abusive piece of shit, and even she called the police when we thought my little brother was missing. He was like 4 at the time, I had spent hours trying to put him to bed, but he kept getting up. I went to the bathroom, heard our front door open while I was in there, came out and he was gone. I ran outside, couldn't find him, woke the egg donor up, and she immediately called the police. They found him hiding behind a chair inside. At some point he had got scared hearing people running around yelling for him (I woke up half the neighborhood before the police even got there), and he snuck back inside and hid. For these parents not to report her missing means they are hiding something big.

Then I threw up! I ran to the church and found her sitting on a pew crying. She followed my sister’s neighbor across and into the church she thought it was my mom. It still makes me sick 12yrs later. She was crying bc she was incredibly shy and didn’t know what to do. The neighbors didn’t say anything to her but sat behind her on the pew bc they knew I would come check there.

It’s not a bad thing to try your best to keep your children safe, and out of harm’s way. It’s actually the natural instinct of every loving parent, especially mothers. Mothers have a unique bond with our children because we carried them in our womb. It’s why a mother will often know something has happened to her child before she is even told about it. It’s like a sixth sense almost. My mom used to always know what I was doing, and it used to puzzle me about how she could possibly know I was doing something I wasn’t supposed to be doing, even when she was in another room. Then I grew up and became a mom, and I was able to know when my children were cutting up, even when I was not in the room with them. I said “Aha! So that’s how she always knew. I don’t understand how these parents can go so long without reporting their child missing. I go into a panic if my kid is missing for 10 mins. Just yesterday I witnessed a 3 year old boy barefoot outside his apartment alone and saw him run across a busy street toward my kids school. He looked like he was scared and lost. He was about to turn around and run across the street again but my kids coach stopped him and took him into the school office. It truly made me so sad for him, how could his mother be so careless to not keep an eye on him and she was no where in sight.

She's saying the stepfather kept the mom and her daughter prisoner in the house and would drug them both. He would drug them until they passed out and he took Madalina out of the house and sold her off. The grandmother believes she is still alive and the little girl may have been made to go under plastic surgery to change her appearance. @@Areyousayingidontknowmyname Yea he does if HE'S the one who kidnapped her and disposed of her. The mom, if she knew where the girl was would have just said where she was at, then walked out of the jail or interview room because there's no crime if she knows where her child is at; so from the first time they asked her where her daughter was.if she knew she would have told them.
The ONLY reason she'd NOT tell them is if she does not know where her daughter is; or if he had taken her daughter and then was threatening to kill her child if she didn't do whatever he wanted her to do, or neve return her to her mother. He would tell the mom that he'd just say that SHE killed her daughter, if she called the police to report her missing, you see? Him having all their money, property, his citizenship, plus being a white guy it'd be easy for him to make the mom believe that she'd better do what he tells her or she'll end up in jail for life or she'lll never see her child again ,
I think that's how he's forced her to play along with the lies, by telling the mother, he has got the daughter somewhere, hidden from the mom , but alive, when in fact the child has not been among the living since he left for Michigan (for no specified or confirmed purpose.) Only HE has any reason to have done something because HE was losing control of his wife and how do you control a woman who has children? You use the kids against her.

I’m local to the Charlotte area and was in my 3rd trimester pregnant with twins & on bed rest when Zahra’s case was going on. Our local news covered everything going on in the case as it was going on, so I followed it continuously. As soon as I heard about Madalina, my 1st thought was how eerily similar it was to Zahra and how much I hoped she didn’t have the same outcome.

I also mentioned that I thought there was a trafficking element to this case. Moldova is a very corrupt place, deeply involved in human trafficking. Don't you think Madalina may have been taken (perhaps for a vendetta, or payment) by an organized crime group from Moldova? The family obviously was going through a drop in income. I think she's in a trafficking situation, and they will probably find there was payment to the mother. I think she is under threat of death, even in jail, and that is why she does not speak.

It’s incredibly important to me that you all note that the mother “being found with a small bag of fentanyl” for the admitted purpose of charging her with drug charges and then telling her that they’ll drop those if she gives them more information is a tactic the police use constantly, it is very very likely that there was never a “bag of white powder“ found in her “inmate shirt pocket“ people in prison DO NOT carry their drugs on them. And obviously she had just barley been booked at that point, she did not buy those drugs off another inmate. You all need to note what an obvious plant looks like so you can spot it.

I pray she's okay too. Adorable young lady, I would be tragic if she's not found safe. I just don't understand how anyone could hurt or traffic a child. She deserves better.

Annie, thank you for covering this case. My heart is absolutely breaking for this sweet, innocent little girl... I pray that she is found safe and alive... I know the parents aren't looking real innocent right now but I am hoping her mother got her somewhere safe, despite the mothers issues.... Praying for Madalina and a Beautiful life ahead of her.🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏

Another case that I am totally baffled by? Was the mother under duress by husband? & the only place he allowed her to go was the school? Was this the first time since Madalana disappeared that she was able to communicate with someone? I honestly think if the mother smuggled her, she would just say she had, as surely she would now be safe from this man? I think Christopher found out that Diana was planning to leave him & took Madalana out of spite. But the question still remains: Why, if her mother had communication devises why she didn't seek help. Very strange. Pls tell me if she had been smuggled she's safe & well because we all know what happens to these girl. Again, it is heartbreaking. Let's pray this doesn't turn into yet another case where we have no idea what happened. One of them knows? I'm sorry, but "NO" decent mother agrees to leave her country & goes live with a male stranger taking a young, vulnerable little girl along. It's completely mental, in my opinion. It's completely irresponsible. The drugs I imagine were to overdose. Thanks for covering this from The UK 🇬🇧

Women who immigrate to the US from other countries are ALWAYS under great stress. God bless anyone in the community who can reach out and support these vulnerable women and any children they have. Violence to women and children happens in isolation. Just one friendship, one trusted contact outside of the home, can make an enormous difference. Please -- do more than "see something, say something." Care enough to get involved in your immigrant neighbor's life!

Sadly, this is one of the reasons these mail order bride sites and K1 visas process, need some looking into so that immigrants don’t end up here in a country they have little to no support in. I believe some couples are good, but the system is broken in a lot of these scenarios and the “love” is fabricated just to get women over here to control. I’m praying the child is safe!!
