  • The unit would cycle but would not pump water nor make any ice. Luck was on my side and it turned out to be an easy fix.

    Thanks for the video! The part number for the Hinge Lever Micro Limit Switch is KW4-3Z-3 and I ordered from eBay for 5 for $5.00 , my lower switch went bad and quit clicking.

    Thanks for posting this. I had the exact same problem with my Koldfront ice machine, which looks identical to the machine in the video. I did the fix that you showed and my machine worked again. Your explanation and video was very clear and precise. Easy fix!!!! Took me 10 minutes. Thanks ever so much!!!!! Saved me from having to purchase a new machine.

    Just wanted to say how helpful this video was. I scored the same ice maker at goodwill for $13.20. Got it home and it would not cyle to cold nor pump the water. Fixed a few loose screws that appently were left fromthe last owners attemp to fix and bent the straight upper tab to match the other tab. Boom!!! the things been dropping loads all day. Of ice. Its awesome. Thanks for the posted video and direction. It was exactly what i needed to get it working.

      @@EveryBladeOfGrass1 It was sooo helpful, however the problem was a small washer left inside the water pump that prevent the impeller from spinning. Works great now! Thank you

    I have an A1-400SB that the fill tray won't drop. I can pull it down but It keeps going back into the empty position so it won't fill.. What could cause this. It's an older unit I hate to get rid of because everything else works. It has hot/regular/cold water and ice...uses bottle on top.

    So I found a "brand new, in box" AI100BK in a liquidation store's dumpster last night! So since it was a liquidation store, who knows what the item's actual past is. But I was stoked to find it nonetheless. I got it home and tested it out, and I had the same issues as the one in the video. It would power up... the scooper activated and pushed forward... it waited about 30 seconds to a minute, and the scooper device went back to it's default position, and the "add water" light came on. That's an easy fix, just add water right? I couldn't believe I didn't think of that. BUT, after adding the water, I still got the same results. I came to trusty dusty RUclips, searched "repair AI-100", and this was the first video to pop up. I read the video description, it was exactly the same issue that I had. I watched this video, and was stoked to find out it was an easy repair. I took the back off, and low and behold, the little metal flappy flapper was straight as an arrow. I bent it a little, just like in the video... plugged it back in, added some water and watched what would happen... And all that happened was the exact same thing as before. Everything looks to be moving, shucking, and jiving correctly.
    But, there is absolutely no sound coming out of the water pump that joins the water tubes. Also, and it goes without saying, I could see water making it's way through the lower tube towards the pump, but no water making it's way up the upper tube that goes to the cold icy maker area. I pinched the lower tube, and could force just a tad pole's amount up the upper tube. But literally just like a milometer. That kinda tells me that there's no clog, but also that it's probably the pump itself that is faulty. And also, I made sure that all of the wire connections were secure to the green board, specifically the one labeled "pump". All was fine, and it still doesn't work. Like I said, likely the pump itself.
    So, I went to Amazon and eBay... no luck. But I did see one that recently sold on eBay for like $20. I was like dope! That's not bad at all. But where can I get one? Googled it. Fount the official site for NewAir. They sell it for $22.90, shipped. Funds are tight right now (hence the dumpster diving [see my videos!]), so I'm gonna have to wait a little while for it. Unfortunately the prices of these ice makers have gone down a lot since this model was brand new. I could sell this one, as-is, probably for around $50ish, give or take, maybe. But I actually really want this for myself. So I'm definitely gonna hold out and buy the pump. I just hope that that is actually the problem. Or at least, the only problem.
    Anywhosies, I'm just being talkative, because I'm so hyped for this dumpster find! I mean, a FREE (practically brand new [likely a return at some point]) table top ice maker! That's just precious!
    If you've read this far, no matter who you are, if you would be so kind, come to my channel and watch my dumpster adventures. I actually put a lot of work into my editing and what not. Too bad not too many people have come by for a looky loo as of yet. So hey! Let's change that, shall we?! lol See ya there! :D #SpamButNotSpam #xoxoxo

      Did you get it fixed? I found one today in the dumpster as well. It was just sitting there right on top in the box and everything. I was so excited to find it but when I got home it didn't work either. I can't seem to get the cover off. The last screw won't come out for some reason.

    Thanks for posting video. I had what appeared to be the same problem but the root cause was a cracked water trough coupling at the drive motor. I fixed it but required more disassembly and gluing the cracked trough.coupling ("D" hole) I think the fix of bending the "actuator" level (microswitch) may in fact compensate for the real issue (in some cases) which is the cracked drive connection of the trough to the motor. Your mileage may very....

    • @rumpelstiltskin2454

      EXACTLY!! This switch has bent because it over extends. The real problem is the motor is to powerful for the cheap plastic. So the ice tray is actually loosening up going bad and cracks!!

    Thanks for posting your video. It really helped me understand the machine. Unfortunately for me the water tray cracked at the swivel point on the right side. It doesn't look like it can be fixed unless you think it can. Any suggestions?

      You may be able to plastic weld the tray depending on how bad the crack is and where it is. There are replacement trays for around $20.00. www.newair.com/products/ai-100-replacement-case Good luck

    I have the same unit. We have had it for two years. It started acting up lately. Everything works, except for the freezing part. The unit started freezing the ice cubes into clear pieces of ice that would melt fast, then finally it stopped freezing or making ice cubes at all. Any suggestions on what to look for or how to repair it. We love this machine.

    Good video! thanks.. CLOSE RELATED PROBLEM ..I want to add a close related problem for people to look at... On the other side of the ice maker where the motor is. My hopper cracked where the motor shaft went in. Meaning the ice hopper WOULD TURN back and forth and the lever by the limit switches may hit one but not the other ONLY because the motor shaft was slightly slipping in the cracked hole it goes into the ice hopper... Hope this helps someone

    • @michelbourgeois
      @michelbourgeois 5 лет назад

      Cedric Tarkelly same thing happend with my igloo machine, you can put a small tie-wrap around the tray split shaft on the motor side and it will work if the switch operates properly. The motor is a bit too strong for the unit.

    I have this same unit, I use it on the weekends during camping trips. However last weekend I plugged it in and filled with water but the unit would not come on. I have checked all outlet plugs and breakers. Any idea of what could be wrong and how to fix it?

    • @EveryBladeOfGrass1
      @EveryBladeOfGrass1  6 лет назад

      If is doesn’t power up at all you may have some connection inside the unit that has come loose or maybe something in the circuit board has gone south other than that hard to say

    Hello! I know this is an old video but you might help me, My ice maker works nromally at least the mechanic parts BUT its only making 3-5 out of 12 ice cubes, any idea why that could be? Ive notices that the metal tubes (the ones that freeze) only those 3-5 are the ones really freezing a lot, the others dont.

    • @EveryBladeOfGrass1
      @EveryBladeOfGrass1  7 лет назад

      there may be a loose wire inside the housing for the freezing elements you may need to take it apart and double check, other than that I'm unsure. however these are pretty simple machines and not too difficult to take apart. good luck.

      If you’re saying that the white piece doesn’t rotate maybe the screw is loose??? Or it maybe that something is wrong with the shaft internally

    My icemaker 's reservoir is moving in opposite order. While pump pumps water reservoir stays up and so there is no water and reservoir under the sticks which makes ice. I place the reservoir manually under the sticks and ice been built but then while shovel must push the ice pump sends water on the ice. Totally a mass, I opened sides and back and see nothing wrong. I hope you can help me 😭

    What about the other side or where the motor is that pivots the tray back and fort? I think something on that side is broken on ours but you didn’t show anything of the opposite side of the MICRO SWITCHES? I can move the basket slowly back-and-forth, touching both switches, and then causing the water to fill and freeze. But the tray will not move on its own. I’m thinking a gear or lever on the other side or a bad motor? Video or picture of the other side would’ve helped.
