@@LegitStreetCars can you possibly shed some light on my situation? '00 ML55 AMG with bad driver side wheel bearing, and wallowed out upper ball joint mounting hole. Will ML320 knuckle fit? Just don't have the money to get a new one currently. Found several on eBay.... Just want to make sure of fitment before I drop the hammer and buy one.... I know that ML500 would work but not sure about the ML320.....with higher speed capability and all.

LegitStreetCars would love to see a video on common failures, things to look for and maintenance items associated with the GL series, more specifically the CDI powered variants. Very intrigued by the MB Diesel SUVs as I have owned diesels but MBs seem to be plagued with problems.

CDI engines are pretty much as reliable as it gets when it comes to mercedes. Some things you should watch out for is build up around the injectors (pretty easy to check, just pop the engine cover off), for engines in the V configuration (V6 and V8), a common failure is the balance shaft, as well as the crank position sensor. Another thing that tends to go out at around 180k miles is the water pump, as well as the glow plug relay. Again, all of the problems i've mentioned are quite minor, but things like the balance shaft could cause you to have a pretty bad day if it fails. I personally have an e320 cdi, and it's been bulletproof so far. Hope this helps!

Rewatching this one for replacing the E55K mounts and flex discs as soon as my package from FCP Euro gets here. Doing the trans flush, conductor plate and connector while I’m under it and still have ball joints and control arms to install now that it’s getting nice in Texas. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate what you do Alex, I would not even own an AMG and enjoy the rewards of keeping one in tip top condition by your own wrenches if it were not for your channel and the work you put into your content. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! I replaced my W211 E320 motor mounts and trans mount few months ago. The top bolts of the motor mounts were the most difficult part IMO. I removed the exhaust on the both side and used a flex head ratchet to remove the top bolts, then jacked up the motor a bit to get the clearance to replace them. The trans mount was a lot easier and the cross member does not need to be removed. Once again good job! Oh and I love the new AMG C63 Coupe!

Magnificent video! Just what I was looking for. I've seen another video about the engine mounts, which I will be doing on the CLS55 next week, but yours is better. I'll be removing the exhaust on both the left and right to get to the mounts, but your tip about that little tool is a real life saver for someone like me. I'll be ordering one right after I finish this comment.

I separated the mount from the rubber so it was smaller and I fed the mount down the front of the engine passed the air fan all the to the bottom them I pushed it to the side and into place!! Saved sooo much time. I just put the rubber on the top when it was fitted.

I was able to get both out without dropping the subframe or removing the exhaust. I used a cherry picker and lifted up the engine then shifted it over. prolly put sone stress on the exhaust but i had no issues after. Now on my 2003 E320 I had to drop the subframe

AC compressor is actually EASY to remove. Just get your serpentine belt loose off the compressor... Three bolts holding on compressor and maybe two little one holding AC line/or some other hoses. The trick is get your mount off its place... let it danglebehind the compressor... get the compressor loose, get old mount out... shove new mount in and put back the compressor bolts... button up everything you did to take off compressor and continue on the mount install. I did this on W210. Passenger side on W210 is super easy... push mounts toward rear and it talls out. Shove new one in same way.

I know it’s been a while since you’ve done this video, but you’re asking for our favorite AMG? Mine is the 2003 to 2006 SL55 P 30, I wish you do more videos because they’re absolutely fantastic informative and fun to watch, another thing I wish is you just mentioned in the SL amg ‘s just in passing conversation?,, Perhaps you don’t like them, they Do you have the M113K & and I know you love that engine as do many of us, Prior to working on my R 230 I always see if you’ve done a video, Examples you really help me about how easy it is to change that voltage regulator & how important & simple the maintenance on them because of the brushes, and how the alternators are basically bulletproof and last forever unless of course the bearing goes out. Once again thank you so much for the videos they’re wonderful, extremely helpful and a pleasure to watch. On reflection I do believe you mentioned one time that one day you’re going to Purchase a Sl 65 ? STEVE

My favorite AMG model has to be my 05 E55. I honestly love the whole M113K engine but it sits the best in the E55.

Awesome as usual. Not a chance in Hell I'll ever buy a Benz or volunteer to work on one BUT it makes for really good entertainment and I learn something new in the process. WIN - WIN.

Nice video Alex!! Me!! I need that tool! The mounts on my W211 E55 are worn out. I just need a quiet weekend to do the job and the right tool of course.

I have a w211 E55 and you def need this tool for motor mounts. The passenger side is easy, plenty of space for it to slide out without removing the exhaust. The driver side is a pain, the steering rack/column will be in the way. I was able to forcefully wiggle out the mount by loosening the steering rack. I prob spent 2 hours just on the driver side mount. Good Luck!

J Howard Thank you for the advice. Yes, I've read on the forums that lowering steering is the easier than removing exhaust.

Is taking the exhaust out easier than taking out the ac compressor and alternator?

great video, learning alot, got a 04 E500, want to do just about everything on her, think the mounts are an issue as the car sat in the snow - bought it as was, shipped it to florida and the repairs began - air struts, alternator, thermostat, radiator, thinking mounts ought to be next - send me that tool

I just bought a 1987 560 SL. After looking the engine mounts along with all the other rubber items they seem to be old and cracked. which is the most important item to change first?

What do you think is the sound of ewwww ewwww every time when push throttle? I have the same sound it’s getting louder from time to time. You now what I mean ? Same noise when you have a cold start. Every m113 has this

    • @LegitStreetCars
      @LegitStreetCars  6 лет назад

The cold start noise is the secondary air injection pump.

No it’s not I plugged my pump out. You have the same noise when you push gas. It’s like somebody is screaming. It’s so ugly. I also take the belt off to check if it’s servo or clima. I hear the noise often at m113
