You guys are the most natural family on RUclips with your remote area touring and great videos. Your understanding and appreciation of the little details in the environment and your respect for it, makes me appreciate what you do, as I will be doing the same in 2025, travelling the more remote areas and always choosing the long way around, as you do If you are “ nuts”, then happy to be called “ nuts” as well and simply smile back. Cheers
A dually cane here to say same, understand music can help sell the production but agreed please keep very low or off whilst talking, still love ta stuff. Thanks for all the work you guys put in.
Great episode that track was amazing one little thing your music is great but sometime it’s way too loud, I mean when your talking , but your cinematic filmmaking is great keep doing what you love thanks for sharing your adventures 🇦🇺🍻👍
That feeling of the outback got me out on the 14km flood plain on the Cooper going to Durham Downs Station. I also get why you love what you do. Your editing is so so good. Merry Christmas
Wow! How beautiful is that landscape ! Maybe young H is ready to do gates Liz 😅 oh Simon , we have to keep you guessing otherwise it gets stale 😂 lovely dancing too! Great trip guys ! Stay safe
Your channel is very aptly named. You really have the spirit of pioneers and get so much pleasure from nature. Merry Christmas to you and your boys. 🎄👍💕🎄
Amazing! Great video. Just got back to the east coast from Perth crossing the Nullabor. Watching your video makes me want to hit the road again. Best wishes.
Love these Vids of you guys on the road the most , and always love Liz’s description of nature 💯 genuine . The wild flowers look amazing . Good job Luz❤🎉 P.S your music is cool and I never have an issue hearing what your saying I think the column is spot on
Stunning work guys! Thanks for your insights and dedication. AND for looking to take calculated risks to boost yours and the youngfellas experience in areas that not many other families would dare to go. Cheers!
Wow! Loved it. What an incredible adventure and amazing scenery. We love the outback too and getting away from everything. I hope we will be brave enough to do something like that one day. Thank you for taking us along with you on your journeys. Wishing you a safe & happy festive season; we look forward to watching your adventures in 2025. Cheers, Kerryn
Firstly you are definitely not crazy we are 100% the same give us dirt road and remote adventure anytime. Love that you used “Mega-Hybrid” 😂 One day hope we can line up our new Lifestyle R2SE with your new one and compare them 👌 Can’t wait to see the final spec of the new build. Nice dance moves at the end 😂
Thanks for watching, we appreciate the support. We’ll post a full breakdown of the new build when it’s finished! We're parked next to a Reconn R4 LRX, not too sure how similar it is to yours?
@ the R4 LRX is our dream van but we don’t have the capacity to tow it unless it’s empty 😂 Our R2SE is slightly narrower, single axle and also shorter. Much much lighter but ours is spec’d up to the max so would be the same type of options you saw on the LRX. The Reconn’s are Hypercampers and that’s why I thought the name Mega-hybrid suites your beast 👌😁
@ yes significantly smaller than yours. It is only the two of us plus one puppy dog. The smaller size also allows us to go to a lot more places with it.
Hi Liz and Simon , yes great country just like the original gravel Eyre Highway that we travelled in the early 70’s and to top it off we drove a 2 door GTR Torana , very low to the ground vehicle . Brings back memories , thanks you , you 2 . The only issue we can see travelling those really remote tracks is if you have a break down issue , the costs and can you get recovery out there .
A terrific adventure that brought back happy memories of when we did the same track. Left Kalgoorlie and travelled along the Trans Australia Railway Access track to Rawlinna, where we overnighted. We also figured we needed to get to Cocklebiddly and going from our maps, laboured along that station track for (I think) 8 hours straight. We got there in one go but were only towing a small Tvan. Stayed at Cocklebiddy, and over dinner there we chatted to the people about the station track. Bloke asked "did you come through the station track"? I said we did and it was slow going. He told us we should have gone a bit further to the next train station Haig (?) and come down that way because it was a reasonably well made road. He said it would have saved us about 5 hours!! We were just there after the big derailment at Rawlinna, and he said all the locals were going there and getting the beer, other drinks and everything else that came from the derailed train. Funny place! (You can thank me later) . (Cue head slap)!! 😀
Great video guys, loved sharing this trip with you, seeing some amazing scenery and thank you Liz tor those early morning sunrise shots, just beautiful. Where will you have Christmas? Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025. Cheers from NZ. 🎅🥰
Cant wait to see the next episode. Im going across there solo in August weather permitting. Those oversize you get use to them i overtake them often on the GNH in a ultra quad.
It’s probably too late now but Cook is a great old town to visit! Only 100ks north of the highway just before Nullarbor Roadhouse. Loved this episode, music wasn’t overpowering for me at all, thanks for the inspo - Rawlinna has been on our bucket list as well 🇦🇺
Loved your description of the vastness of the country as seen from the Cocklebiddy Rawlings track. My wife and I did it in 2005 on our way to do the Canning Stock route. My wife has used similar descriptors to put the vastness into words. Take care and have fun.
Did the track Rawalinna to Cocklebiddy track after completing the Connie Sue Hwy in 2019. I called it the track from Hell and refused to stop & camp the night so we pushed into the night until we reached Cocklebiddy right before they were closing for the night. They were a godsend... allowed us to get fuel, a hot meal, a drink (or two) and a room with a hot shower for the night. It was certainly an experience. If you haven't done the Connie Sue Hwy or the Sandy Blight Junction track in WA, i highly recommend it. Although, I'd not take your caravan along these... swag camping or smaller camper.
Way back in the 90,s my boyfriend of today tell me story and photos of him doing that trip in a two wheel drive Toyota hi,ace van,he reckon it not a bad dirt road.good video.
Man, that's some seriously remote country there!! It'd take some getting used to not getting insanely anxious about running out of fuel or having a major mechanical failure whilst being SO remote with your whole family. I suppose you got close'ish to that when you had that diff trouble earlier this year. I understand that we can take every possible precaution as you do Simon (e.g. regular caravan/vehicle maintenance, emergency comms etc.) but for me, I reckon there'd always be that 'X factor' burning in the back of my mind as I tackle something similar as you and Liz (and the kids) 🤔
Yeah, it's definitely a different way of life out here! I think you get used to the remoteness and being self-reliant, but if something happens we're unable to sort out ourselves we have communication, water, food, shelter and well-stocked first aid supplies.

And....the specs for the HS2 list its width at 7'2".....that's pretty narrow, especially for a family of 4. Is that correct??? Thanks for sharing a great journey with us. 😊
I did that trip a few years back and it was a mission!… camels Roos wedgies and isolation is very real ! I to got past the point of no return couldn’t go back but when we turned off the trans route there were 3 roads to take to be honest the one I took I think wasn’t right ! But we made it also towing !! And we missed Connie Sue by 2 days doing a taga long tour (lens daughter) yes it was a long short cut but I’ll never forget it cheers guys
Thanks for that. Totally understand but if we don’t give you this sort of feedback and you aren’t aware then people may just give up viewing and we don’t want that. Always Love your content
Fantastic! Wish we had continued the track from Kalgoorlie to Rawlinna too now. We weren't sure we could get through, but will definitely give it a go next time we're in that area. We have seen the Indian Pacific twice in the last few months. Once was around midday on a Saturday, when we were on our way to Tammin in the Wheatbelt, and the other around midnight, when we free camped the Trans Access Road right next to the line. I was a bit disappointed, as had hoped it would come past in daylight! It's on my bucket list to go from Sydney to Perth on it one day (might need a Lotto win!)
Who would have known about this road / track. Another great episode to view while I have my breakfast 😂😂 on Sunday morning. Quick question. Your trip to Karijini how many episode's did you put on. We have watched the free camping one so far and are planning out trip and looking for free camps through the NP.
Glad you're enjoying the videos! I think we only did one video this year, but we also covered Karijini in our first year if you look back through our older vids.
Dream trip guys🍻 with your new van, could pay off (especially for the roads less smooth) have a chat with the designer and see if they can design a 3-4 point bracket on the back to hold the bikes so they’re not bouncing all the time, or maybe on the front reduces the stress. Lus as someone else posted the background music is to loud during conversation especially if you’re hearings not good and you need the volume up, but loved it and Liz amazing time of day to get up and watch the sunrise in peace👍👍
Well done team, station country is so under rated, not many know or understand the beauty, the quiet, the vastness, the diversity of landscapes, and the magic of camping so remotely. Liz's sunrise smile says it all. Thanks for capturing the essence of the outback. Looking forward to your feedback and setup for the new van. Cheers Shayne
Hi guys love the show just a minor criticism nothing major because I have noticed it with other RUclipsrs that sometimes the music from my side seems to over power you guys talking otherwise love the show and the where are you you really interpret clearly where you are and what you are doing, the guy winning about your children, well kids will be kids. Cheers stay safe and travel safe.
Thanks so much for that info- one sees very traditional gendered roles in your videos - with two wide eyed males always watching, enjoy the adventure, 😊
I continually wonder what those properties you’re crossing expect from a biosecurity point of view. Are they asking for weed and seed inspections/certificates or just hoping that you’re not bringing and noxious weed seeds? Do they ever ask? We wouldn’t allow it in SWQ
Interesting question. We've never been asked, but it could be because of the remoteness. It's a public access, so I'm not sure how much they can restrict it.

Thanks for the feedback, Phil. Try and keep in mind, creators like us dedicate many hours a week to create videos you enjoy for free and mistakes sometimes happen. While we always welcome constructive criticism and feedback, the way it's delivered matters.
Everytime you opened your mouth - music came out. I couldn't understand what you were saying with all the loud music overplayed, especially in the first 6 minutes. Sorry guys, but I really noticed it. Regards, Graham
Thanks, Graham. Something went wrong with the audio in this one which seems to have affected some more than others. It can vary quite a lot of different devices.
Thanks for another top episode and for all your work in producing it. Sad to say though that you don't teach your children to respect others property and you think it's ok to film it and leave it in the video. They were running on the seats and table tops where people sit and eat at Rawlinna railway station. We don't think this is respectful or hygienic.
We appreciate your feedback, but if you've never visited Rawlinna you might have missed these tables are out in the open, exposed to everything. Pretty sure our kids feet are the least of their worries 😂
You guys are the most natural family on RUclips with your remote area touring and great videos.

Thanks for the kind words - we're just enjoying our time exploring the outback and sharing it with you!
Liz is right , it's the way a place makes you feel, 2 very insightful and wonderful videos in a row.
Thanks so much, more to come!
What a wonderful adventure! Brilliant videography and great narrative. Especially the early morning sunrise, Liz!
Thanks for the kind words - we're so glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video guys, what a trip 👍. Merry Christmas and a happy new year 🎅
Hi guys, love your videos but could you please turn the music off when you're speaking. It's just really hard to hear what you are saying at times.
Agree, loads of youtubers miss this detail
Yep way too loud had to stop watching after 1min
Came here to say this. On our tv the music was way overpowering and made it almost impossible to hear the talking.
I could hear them perfectly with the music, we all have different preferences.

It was an incredible drive, we're glad you liked it!
Always wondered what that track was like and now I know. Great video, many thanks for taking the time to make it.
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome drive guys, must remeber this for when we are over there next.
Cheers
It's a beautiful drive!
Hey guys love the content and your not nuts we love the country as well.
Great to hear!
What a great drive and scenery. So glad you chose to take that route.
Cheers, we had a great time on that route!
Now that's what I call remote touring. It must have been an awesome trip.
It was incredible!

Agree the music was overwhelming, particularly when you guys were talking about
Thanks for the feedback. We had some issues with the audio grading on this one, we'll have it sorted for this Sunday!
Keep doing it differently. It's what we like.
Appreciate the support!
Mustering happens in January so stock will be at water points .

That's a great point, thanks for sharing!
I would say mustering in January the sheep won’t be to far from the watering points easier to muster enjoy ringer
Ah, yes. That makes sense 👌

Wondering if Liz can drive???
Yep, whenever you see the drone shots, she's driving!

Not real sure how that’s considered a hybrid. That’s still a big van imo.
Yeah, it's pretty big for a hybrid. We've dubbed it the 'Mega-Hybrid' 😂
Background music is so loud we can't hear you. 😕
Thanks for letting us know. It varies a lot between devices, we'll look into it for next week 👍
