Austin City Limits has once again gobsmacked me with an artist that inexplicably had escaped my laser-sighted hunger for massive, earth -shattering talent. I have now viewed this wonderful hour more than a dozen times and watched him grow up on RUclips. Rather than cry over all the years of Rufus missed, I am feeling so grateful for this new angel in my life.
I feel the same exact way. Somehow the magical RUclips gods sent “Going to a Town” to my feed and my 70-year-old life was instantly changed. We have tickets to see him perform in LA in March, and I am so excited!
Same same (as they say in SEAsia and likely elsewhere). I just came across him singing Suzanne and have been searching RUclips for more of what I have inexplicably missed.
I felt exactly the same when I discovered Rufus about 13 years ago. For me it was George Michael in Paris singing Going to a Town. The song and it's unique structure blew me away , not to mention George's delivery y. I couldn't understand how I had missed him at the end of the nineties. Bit like Jeff Buckley, a contemporary obs. I would have loved to have seen him live. But Rufus is a link to them all and I've seen him live 5 times and can only be grateful for the impact his work has had. I am a major sufferer of mental health problems and, call me crazy, lol, but I feel like every time I hear him, my soul is eased. What a gift. Thank you Rufus x
There are no words! I absolutely love this man- his voice, his expressions, his compositions, everything! Can’t believe I didn’t discover him all these years ago , but now I’m making up for it! I first happened to come upon him singing New York State of Mind for the Billy Joel Kennedy Center Honors- superb! ♥️🎶
This sounds like classic Rufus Wainwright to me. He looks like classic Rufus! I think it’d be more difficult to do ACL without a live audience, I think he should be invited back for a live session. All performers feed off the audience and while I do think this is really good performance, I’ve seen when he feeds off a responsive audience & he is off the charts. There is no one like Rufus Wainwright. Look for his live duet with Brandi Carlyle.
Is there a stereo version of this?
Such a special voice. Great vibrato.
He gets better & better. He continues to have so much to offer.

Unfollow the rules touches my heart. I lost my daughter last August and this song reminds me of her so so much 💧♥️
stunning maybe an understatement as he seems to awaken my need for understanding in a world where ignorance is bliss ! Cheers Rufus ✌

Looks like he is high on drugs.
Get a grip! He doesn’t do drugs! This is Rufus- he’s always had these mannerisms!
you sound like you're high on ignorance
Is this satire or just the worst I have ever heard ?
What? If that’s the worst, I’m curious what the best you’ve ever heard is.
You must be satire.
you poor soul
ah, another musically illiterate person
No. You just have no taste. It’s ok.
