    Dude, I'm 62 and I have never heard anything better than Nemophila. They simply do not do anything less than excellent. They just do everything. Pick a genre and they can nail it.
    They metal as hard and as well as any male band I've heard since I started listening to the stuff in the 1970s. They are just phenomenal musicians.

    Love this song, the lyrics are also very positive so that may have something to do with it too. Yeah they do lots of screams try Adabana next!

    These girls have such an infectious joy amongst themselves when performing, it's rare I watch a music video, opting instead for the live in the studio versions of their songs. Only then do you understand the nickname of the rhythm section. Smiling Thunder.

    My favorite song from them. These ladies kick butt.🤘🤘 I'm 53 ,and I love this band. You mentioned Iron Maiden, Nemophila have covered The Trooper and Aces High.
    Their 2nd album was released in December. The title track, Seize the Fate , is the first single out.
    Lovebites is back too, with a new bassist, Fami. They released a song called Judgement Day right around Christmas.

    Hazuki and Saki are, in my humble opinion, the only ones who can compete with another duo Midori and Miyako from Lovebites

    I am soon 70 and I grew up with Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Moody Blues, Johnny Winter and also Simon and Garfunkel and Beatles. And not to forget Jimi Hendrix. Artists that loves their music. Genuine stuff. And to me Nemophila is an echo from that time. It is a self made group that just come together and make music. Music that they love and I love. And, it seems to come from Japanese women. Not only, of course, but to a great deal.

    Tamu kills this song on drums. I've watched the live versions of this from their Whiskey show in LA and literally watch that 5 seconds of Tamu hitting the cymbals and snare to start if off over and over.

    Love this band they take me back to the 80s and have renewed my guitar playing into making a 7 string with the same pickups in it that Saki has in her signature Killer .Raitei was the track that made me sit up and take note i had already listen to Oiran and the trooper cover (maiden Fan) on YT early 2020 But Raitei mainly the guitar work blew me away now i have most of there CDs and some merch ,T shirt and Guitar towel . They are a mix of all that is good about Metal blending all the best bits yet still having there own distinct sound .Best new heavy band around right now male or female and yes im a older guy 56 .The all new album has sounds reminiscent of Iron Maiden , Motorhead , Judas Priest ,New metal from the 2000s ,hair metal from 90s and west coast US punk (Green Day ,NoFx etc ) .There are lots more for you to look at with Nemophila and there touring in the US in a few months Grrrrrrrh i live in UK.

    I'm around your age group and have similar eclectic taste in music and been playing guitar since '88 (self taught and as an amateur). I get what your saying about the female musicians but what's crazy is when I listen to Nemophila I don't even associate it as a girl band. Yes they are undeniably beautiful young ladies but that's an after thought to the music. I see and hear great musicians first and its like that with most of the other female centric Japanese bands I've gotten to know and love. I'll admit though I got a huge crush on Saki. Outside of being a great guitarist, to me she's a model caliber beauty.

    yeah, their are cute, but apart from that, and also their undeniable talent, the most engaging side is how much they enjoy playing. maybe this is the real 'mark' for all this far-eastern-girl-wave-of-bands. who would have thought that 'the' torch would be kept alive?

    I love this band! Glad you are checking them out more. Also, my band Paint and Copter has a new video called Leave You Feeling that you might enjoy. Somewhat of a Black Sabbath sound w/Taiko drums, synths and female vocals. Some of my compatriots in the Japanese music community have quite liked it. You will definitely like our follow-up video coming out in a few weeks, it has a distinctive Radiohead vibe. Thank you so much.

    I'm 50. Yeah I love a lot of the Japanese Metal. I feel like metal was creative. But that American metal stopped being creative and became orthodox. Japanese metal is creative. It's unorthodox.

      @@deanwolfechannel I feel like underneath a lot of Japanese music is Vocaloid. Vocaloid is the most creative and is a different way to compose music. Ado, Waggaki Band and Babymetal are very related to Vocaloid. The new Hanabie song was cowritten by a Vocaloid producer. All the great Jpop is Vocaloid related. Tenshi Yonezu who is a huge jpop-rock star and did the opening for Chainsaw Man makes Vocaloid as Hachi. Yoasobi who did the great jrock songs Yoru Ni Kakero and Monster makes Vocaloid.

    They did exist, L7, Girls School etc. but they weren’t this level accomplished or talented. I think the difference is that female metal isn’t angry. It’s fast, energetic, powerful and ultimately melodious (Thanks Yoshi), but it isn’t testosterone fueled so it just doesn’t convey rage. Sometimes there’s angst, often emotion, but it’s sadness at worst and usually more like pure joy.
    I will say though, if you’re male, and like rock and/or metal music, and you watch some high quality music performed by cute girls dripping with talent and sporting big smiles, and your reaction is “meh” or negative, you may want to have a good hard think about the direction your life has taken. Just sayin’. 😜

    • @deanwolfechannel
      @deanwolfechannel  Год назад +1

      yes, the testosterone theory resonates!

    • @MaartenT
      @MaartenT Год назад

      I think the fact that most of the Japanese female bands don't create "angry" metal has more to do with them being from Japan than them being female.
      There certainly are agressive, angry all female metal bands. For example the death/thrash metal band "Nervosa" or the death metal band that spawned out of members leaving that band called "Crypta". Both bands started in Brazil, but I believe Nervosa has now members from all around the world.
      Btw, I am not super familiar with them, having only heard one or two tracks by each on reaction channels, but I have enough experience with those genres so I can 100% compare them to any other thrash or death metal band as far as agressiveness and sounding "angry". They don't really sound different to me even to the point that I wouldn't know it was a female band if I just heard them without a video (they use harsh vocals).
      But while I do think you are right with your statement in general, I think the Japanese bands sound like they do because of influences from specific genres inside of Japan. They usually sound more influenced by the Visual Kei bands and Power Metal bands (and some Thrash metal, which tends to be angry), compared to Death, Black or Doom Metal which tend to be angrier than the first ones I mentioned. But I can almost guarantee there will be plenty of those bands around as well in Japan (I know a couple Japanese bands in those genres) and I'm sure that includes full female bands. You can probably only find them if you go looking for them because those genres tend to be more underground and those genres aren't really something most people will enjoy to begin with.

      No me gustaban las bandas femeninas de heavy metal, porque vi en concierto a Girlschool y Vixen, y por Dios, que malas eran. En 2018 descubrí a Tamu y Show-ya (sus madrinas) y posteriormente Nemophila, Aldious, Lovebites, Destrose, Scandal, Hagane, etc, y es otro nivel, hacia muchos años, desde Epica y Nighwhist que un grupo nuevo me emocionara tanto
