I didn’t have HeroQuest back in the day. It came out around when I graduated HS. Never thought much about it as a solo dungeon crawl. Time to re-examine that thinking!

This is like the second video I've seen today that talked about how much resin detail has improved but also how much of a durability sacrifice is made.
The durability in BeeThreeDee minis is stronger than most 3D printed minis. They are stronger and most durable. Not unbeakabke but not as fragile as the reviewer made it seem that they are. Very good stuff and I highly recommend checking them out.
It’s fun to see this game again, but more robust than ever.
It’s certainly a game that lends itself to crafting your own experience.
And at this point there is so much great material out there across games, settings and systems that an enthusiasts’ own game becomes something of an amalgamation.
This game, belongs, even if in parts (the board alone) to “the game”.
I love all your content. Would you consider possibly doing more Four Against Darkness, e.g Fortress of the Warload. Theres also two new supplements called "Treacheries of Troublesome Towns". I also looked forward to more Scarlet Heroes. 👍

Great video with the new Hero's Quest additions. Hopefully a great start to a new year for you. Looking back I loved all your older shadows of brimstone content. Just wanted to say you helped get me through that pandemic with the loads of content you threw in there. Keep that foot on the gas.
Don't sleep on the App. I have used it for the solo quest in "The Mage of the Mirror" quest pack. Pretty decent.
Not a fan of the app for this game. Too much time spent in the app and I don’t like the quests. I have a whole video detailing in great depth how I play solo.

While I like these cards and love to have these, the cost for the decks makes them more expensive than the base game. I am also afraid that we are making HQ go from simple to Shadows of Brimstone difficult. There is a point when there is too much. As an example, while I like playing Dungeons of Doria, there are so many cards that it gets to be too much.
I am glad assets like this are available, but it is getting to be too much.
I definitely wouldn’t use them all at once, but more in a modular fashion.

Irrelevant topic but I just came across this very amazing game called Lordsworn, from Marrensmusing. (it has nothing to do with Ironsworn btw)
It's GM-less, solo supported and has a grim dark theme. Also, the game is more roleplaying-focused than combat-focused.
But what I like about the game is this cool system where each player is assigned 3 PCs from a list of 26 archetypes at the start. And whenever an event happens, players draw a number of characters (depends on the amount of players) from the pool of their chosen three. Afterwards, they have to narrate the story using the drawn characters and then, of course, roll some dices.
Here comes the twist, the dice results are hidden and you have to assign most of them to the other's PCs.
Yeah, that's right. The success of your action is pretty much dependent on the other at the table. This little mechanic was the main culprit responsible for all the perils and dangers that occured throughout my group's campaign, and I absolutely love it!
Well, I had a lot of fun with the book, so I feel like this is a title worth checking out.
(don't tell this to anyone but I haven't told Geek Gamers about this game yet)
Interesting! Sounds like it's not solo? That would be a deal breaker for me, a 99% of my gaming is solo only.
@@TheDungeonDive It's kinda for solo...I guess? Basically, you control all of your 3 PCs and your main job is just to journal down their actions and daily lives.
It feels really weird at first, having to act as 3 different characacters at once. And they're just not your average NPCs in a normal solo campaign, but something more personal...?
Well, I might need some time to familarize myself with this unique approach to roleplaying. Personally, I mostly use the book as supplement for my solo campaign. It's got a nice setting and all that.
Turns out, I own this. :) Just haven't looked at it yet.

I used to paly this so much as a kid. I don't own a copy any longer but want one mainly to use with AHQ project. If I buy the modern version the miniatures don't work with AHQ which is a slight issue! Id love to try this solo
Why wouldn't the miniatures work? I use miniatures for 4 or 5 completely different games when I play AHQ or WHQ.
I'm curious if you've heard of the game, "Ballads and Tales". Seems something right up your ally.

Haven't made a video yet on DSO. Waiting for them to finish all the quests on the digital overlord.
Yeah only 4 missions I think. Would be nice for a mission generator really. Tons of replayability
Yeah. I started playing it and then noticed that. Really odd that they haven't done that yet. Also, yes, there really should be a random quest mode for us to string together our own character campaign. Game designers just keep forgetting about this very important aspect. It's really frustrating.

Hey Daniel what do these companions do? Do they literally follow you around and help out?
Not sure. They seem more like heroes. I'd probably just use them as additional heroes when I play solo.
FHCS is working on a guidebook now that better explains how all their cards work, including a section for companions and mercenaries.
Is this a hint to a future PVP PVE style expansion?

@TheDungeonDive The monk expansion. Maybe taking part in some kind of tournament where you fight hordes of enemies or other heroes. This may take the dungeon questing aspect away, but might be fun for a fast action battle type experience. Maybe I am reading too much into it.
