Loved hearing that Corbin Burnes was talking trash to Grayson Rodriguez about who had a better start. Guys competing to be the best, Gray Rod loved it too.
At the Sox/Mariners game in seattle, the walk off game. The right field sections were absolutely letting the RF for boston Abreu hear it. Everything from "youre a bum" and "go back to AAA" and "here comes an E9" to them rallying together clapping together chanting "YOU SUCK" at abreu. Heckling him every second of the game. Only for him to make an error in the 10th that led to the sox loss, needless to say after the error the hecklers went absolutely wild. Im a sox fan but it was hilarious, abreu will be good
So stoked for Jung Hoo Lee, I love how comfortable he looks.
This was a great weekend across the league. That Yankees Astros series sheeesh thats good baseball

There is a Twins pitcher named Cole Sands who I am sure you know about. I’ve been following his career because his girlfriend’s family are very close friends with my family. He has been kind of a quad-A guy so far in his career, but over the off season it looks like he has completely changed his delivery and has added 2 or 3 mph on his fastball. He made the big league roster and threw two innings on Sunday, I really hope he breaks out this year.
Also Jake I’m disappointed there was no mention of the nuts on Lance Lynn striking out the side to get out of a bases loaded first inning in the only game the cardinals won this weekend. Go cards. Baseball is fun.

There is no opening day better than Cincinnati Reds opening day. It used to be a MLB tradition that the Reds always started the regular season first. They really need to bring that back.

Know it's just one series, but the Mariners selling their offseason as cutting down on strikeouts, then starting the year by striking out even more than last year is worrying. Especially when the opposing pitchers game plan is still the exact same: just no fastballs and you're good. Polanco, Raley, and Canzone all looked totally lost.

I was genuinely confused by Jake's apprehension to "step on Jim's toes" over him doing a breakdown of the McNeil situation, but after watching Jim's Three Things today and that MONSTER of a deep dive...it makes a little more sense. So glad (talkin) baseball is back!

Not a pirates fan but I think the bucs are trying to slowly build up Skenes’ workload. Skenes really has a small number of IP in his time in the minors. He definitely has the stuff to be at the big league level but young guys who throw hard tend to fatigue quickly over the course of a full season workload

Don’t forget that* the Stros always start slow. The angels were up in the division by something like ten games after April a few years back. We won the division handily. That being said, we may actually suck this year.
Skenes is in AAA because he's only thrown 7 pro innings and is transitioning from a 7-day rotation in college to 5-day. But if the Pirates are serious he should be up by June

Watch Fried against Castellanos in game 2. Fried got out of the jam with no runs but the umpire clearly sneezed or blinked or something cuz that call makes no sense otherwise. But Fried couldn't get the fourth out and clearly didn't have it that day anyways

Will Benson being a 30 and 30 guy is comedy. He's a great OF, don't get me wrong. But he's got a big hole in his swing. He's a strike out machine. You got to get on base to steal them.
Gotta feel nice to sweep the Astros and the high will last for a while, but we should look closer at the game statistics. The Astros were 8-41 with RISP, they had so many opportunities to blow the games wide open. Nestor and Rodon did not pitch well despite what the final score says, especially Rodon he lucked out big time with every inning making people sweat. Holmes was also making people panic each time lol. I'm interested to see is Cabrera will keep it up or if he just happened to have a little hot streak, because really only he and Soto did anything the rest it looked like the Astros literally couldn't hit the strike zone to save their lives.
Regardless, still a great start to the season im just being pessimistic
Not that the Cubs had much of a shot in terms of WS but Justin Steele getting hurt and being out for at least a month sucks. We don’t have pitching depth thank you Jed Hoyer for that🙄

Regarding Skenes - 3IP, 5K’s. He’ll be up in a few weeks after they get an extra year of control. Believe April 12th is the deadline there. Any team in baseball would do the same. Plus he had never pitched more than 2IP before this weekend professionally. He’ll be up soon.
He had pitched 6.2 innings of minor league ball prior to this year, none at AAA. Freaking out that this is some kind of service time manipulation on the scale of Kris Bryant like Trev did is so ridiculous.
