Honestly, if odyssey or botw get to a point of not being in the top 5, just imagine how amazing those 5 games have to be.
I`m guessing Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3 and the Switch Pokemon game will most likely be in the top 5 aswell.

Well, it could be a matter of people just getting bored of BOTW or Odyssey. So if they ever get surpassed, it's not necessarily that the 5 games above them are better, just that they're newer and people are getting burned out of the 2 others

Thats not much, you saved 60$ woooo. I opened a gamestop credit card and purchased my switch. With the promo points and points for the switch, i have 50,000 points to get $50 off my next game purchase. Its basically the same thing accept i didnt have to go to office depot.

I can only assume they were stolen but that doesn't matter to me I offered $600 for both he accepted I then sold 1 for $425 quick. I paid $175 for a brand new Xbox one x. not even taking into account that I sold my existing one s for $180 lol. I promise you, you aren't getting a better deal than that needless to say I've already sold the switch I paid $265 for $285. i get consoles weekly for wayyyy under retail I actually buy and sell locally i have 500+ sells on offerup.

I would say that Odyssey, Zelda, ARMS, Splatoon, mk8 and Mania are the standout games for the switch if you have that kind of money. Forces isn't for everyone but I don't think it's terrible. Depends if the person you're buying for is a sonic fan or not

During black Friday & Cyber Monday I picked up Fifa 18, Puyo puyo tetris, Lego Ninjago, Lego Worlds, Lego City Undercover, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 & Rayman Legends for $153 before taxes. They're all worth it for the prices I got em for. ($15-$30)
While I prefer Splatoon 2 to ARMS and have put way more hours into Splatoon 2, I definitely enjoy ARMS and encourage anyone to try it and play it. ARMS is bright, colorful, and innovative. Even better than that, ARMS receives a steady stream of free DLC and updates and that makes your $60 investment a wise investment. I had tremendous fun with the Party Crash event over Thanksgiving and love the new badge achievements. ARMS is great fun with friends and online!

I think ARMS is a good choice for families with more than one kid. XD Where Splatoon is NOT. I know, I am the eldest of 10. And I adore Splatoon.

All of them have 4 player. Super Bomberman is the only one I know for a fact if you have two switches, you can play 8 player all together. Any game that lets you play 8 player like it is Smash on Wii U, will be an instant buy for me.
If I still lived with my fam, I would have bought with my Switch: Mario Kart, Puyo Puyo Tetris, and Pokken Tournament. A single player game like Splatoon, Mario, or Zelda would simply have to wait.
Arms is definitely better as a multiplayer game. It's fun but I would only buy it on sale

I have to agree with all your thoughts on this one! I am a little surprised Snipperclips wasn't mentioned! It is cheaper from the eShop though, so I hope it's mentioned there. It also has a downloadable demo so you can try before you buy (why aren't ALL games like that?!) and honestly even though it's just a little puzzler game, it's so much fun for $20 (or $30 for the Plus version), either for solo or multiplayer!
So far, I have yet to regret any of my Switch purchases. That being said, I've only purchased Zelda, Odyssey, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and Sonic Mania.

A cheap game I would personally reccomend is actually a port from PC in the same axiom-esk style is Cave Story. Its $20-$30 and its by far one of the best games I have ever played. Multiple endings, a rich story, colorful characters. All in all I would 11/10 reccomend
Arms is a good game and can give you about 5-25 hours if your playing by yourself BUT if your gonna be playing multiplayer you"ll have a lot of fun with it and will be playing it for a very very long time
KhalidPlays Why would you want 25 hours for a $60 game? My rule is an hour for every dollar makes it worth it. I've put 70 into Odyssey, 100 into MK8DX and 150 into Zelda, these were worth it and for the most part were single player (except Mario kart). Even small indie games like Stardew got way more hours then what they were worth, arms isn't worth it for that lmao
CEtro569 I meant that only for singleplayer but for multiplayer it can give you many more hours I got this game near launch and playing with my friends and family is always a good time and so far I put around 100 Hours into the game.
If you have two or more kids, Arms is 100% a better choice provided they like fighting games.
Mario Kart is the other better choice. Sorry not sorry. I am the eldest of 10. I know for me, I own Puyo Puyo Tetris, even though I do not have to share anymore. XD I live on my own. But yeah, it is quite a loudhouse.

I think Arms is great and totally worth it. My son (6 years) and I play online all the time. Offline can get boring but Party Mode is great. The new Party Crash events are nice too and the game is getting great support. We have taken breaks from it to play other great games be we keep going back to it. It also seems to have a good online community, since launch day we have never had any trouble getting into online matches.

Yes, Splatoon is also a fan favorite around our house. That’s another game we keep going back to. The only downside is no couch co op. Salmon run is begging for split screen support.

normal guy I definitely agree that mania is better than forces, it's really not even a contest, but I do think forces is getting way more hate than it deserves. Is it a great game? No, but it's far from terrible, and I honestly do believe the only reason people are so quick to hate/be more critical of the game then normal is simply because it's a sonic game and it's just become the cool thing to hate on every sonic game that isn't the original trilogy or mania. That being said though, I definitely don't think forces is worth $40, and anyone is better off just spending $20 on mania.

For anyone reading the comments looking for more suggestions, a game that's in the low-mid price range that I would 100% recommend is Kingdom: New Lands. You can check out some play throughs on youtube - it's really simple and calming. Really beautiful for its style, lovely music, with more hidden things to find than you might think.
Also, Overcooked. It's meant for local multiplayer but you can still play it by yourself. I never get tired of watching people play it. It's also around $20 to $30.
2 games I would love to see remastered for the switch are Epic Mickey 1 + 2 and Super Mario Maker (maybe add some new tools, objects and skins).

I think arms is a perfectly valid game for the holidays, it has both online and local multiplayer, I actually have 20 more hours put into arms than splatoon 2

MasterLINK657 I don't like comparing arms with splatoon 2, where as splatoon 2 is a sequel and has many assets and ideas it can recycle from the first splatoon, arms is the first of its kind and is truly unique. I'd rather it compare to the original splatoon which have very similar amounts of initial content. On top of that, arms is getting continuous and frequent updates. there have been 4 new stages, 4 new charectors, an acheivments system, a new game mode, and a splattfest style online competition that encourages player to try unique arm and experiment with fighters. And that's not the end of it. who knows what's to come in the year ahead. I beleive that all this makes arms a perfectly viable Holliday gift
Splatoon also has free updates. And, it also involves the community with splatfests.

Honestly didn’t expect so many people backing up ARMS. I absolutely love the Splatoon series so naturally I gave ARMS some thought. I haven’t picked it up yet, but I just may.

Backing everyone else up on ARMs, I have the switch pretty much exclusively for local splitscreen with my friends and ARMs has been a staple in our gaming line up since its release! Definitely an amazing game to pick up and quick fire a few rounds for an hour or so!

X_AAero_X ok I need help. I got the game and. The season pass but the graphics and the characters screaming the same thing over and over gain are stoking me from enjoying it. Does it get better?
The graphics you can't really help but the annoying repetitive dialogue in combat can be turned off. I set one of the sounds in the options to 0 and it fixed it. Personally during my first 5 or so hours I thought the game wasn't all that great. Thankfully after that it started to pick up and be more enjoyable. I think it was shortly after I teamed up with Vandham that I started having fun with it. At that point you have a good couple of rare blades and starting to do all the combos.
There's a ton of spoilers so if you have to look anything up online you'll run into them with ease. Didn't bother me any because I don't care, infact I enjoyed it since I like to plan ahead.

Sonic Mania was released earlier this year and appeared on a few consoles, so check if the person in question has played it already. It's a nice budget title that I highly recommend.
To ease confusion: Sonic MANIA is not the same as Sonic FORCES. Mania is available as a fairly small download, so an SD card isn't required. Hope this helps!

I don't have Splatoon 2. I got it on the Wii U, played it for a few hours and dropped it. One of my biggest regrets was buying that, so not making the same mistake here.

If you get games not digitally you can hold a lot more space. I have not bought a micro sd but I have Mario+rabbids kingdom battle, doom, mariokart 8, skyrim, and Mario odessy and have like half my storage leftover. I think it’s worth buying physical form everyone. Saves you lots of money!

I put over 70h into Has Been Heroes and I´m still playing it. Sure duo to its difficulty it is not a game for everyone but once you figured out how it works it becomes an addicting action puzzle. You really should read some beginners guides and give it a second try. Anyhow thanks for the good video I enjoyed it. *thumps up*

I would also recommend Shantae Half-Genie Hero and Rayman Legends. Two good side-scroller platformer games, the latter I consider being fantastic. Definitely pick them up if you haven't played them before.

honestly if you have mario kart, that is a game worth keeping, if you already have it on wii u, there little reason to get it for switch unless your a massive mario fan, but if you don't then get it and keep it, a great game to play with friends in person, seems like you ( beatemups ) said to avoid only cause its been out for a long time, but got to think of those who never played mario kart, or just got a nintendo switch, i would say this is great to keep even if you may not play it much, if you got friends in person who you hang out with, most likely you will be playing it at least once :)

The BIG thing about Bomberman, as always, is lots of people all around the same TV/screen, with a few beers. There is no game better in that situation, (including Puyo Puyo Tetris) and it doesn't matter that it's the same game as it has been for 20 years, in fact that's a plus point.

markusgrenable I say that you should probably try out the first game before you play the second. You can see if you like the combat style and the length of the game. Although they have two different stories, the first Xenoblade is more critically acclaimed. I think it’s best to play the one with the better story and hopefully you’ll like it enough to play the second game.
I am a MASSIVE zelda fan. Like MASSIVE. And i think it ties zelda for the games you HAVE to play on the switch. If you really don't like a good jrpg maybe that is the only situation i wouldn't recommend it. I still haven't been able to get very far because I am a full time student and I have a job but I hope to beat it between semesters. So I have not beat it but feel confident wholeheartedly recommending it.

Yes, this game is really good : story is very interesting, gameplay is addictive and content is huge. Really huge. I took some time to end the game but I took 160 hours, and at 215hours, now, I haven't got all what I was looking for.
dude! i cant believe you didnt recomend Arms! i have so much fun playing that game, they are constantly adding new modes and characters. every day at school me and my friends play split joycon mode and have a blast, if you are into fighting games you have to pick it up its sooo good!

I'm surprised by your comments about Arms. It's one of the only fighting style games I've enjoyed playing, and continue to play. The regular updates of new characters and levels have been great. I rate Arms up their with Splatoon 2.

I definitely agree with Zelda BOTW, Mario Odyssey, and Splatoon 2 being the three Must Haves. I keep going back to Arms after updates, and then I remember how horrible I am at it. I actually traded Bomberman R in towards Splatoon 2 back when I got that. Skyrim is alot of fun on the Switch, but LA Noire annoys me because of the Switch Tax of $10, so I may get in when it evens out with the other systems.
SnivyLitten I'm not saying get Splatoon 2 over Zelda Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey, but I do think it's a solid third purchase after them, plus I think it's a much deeper experience than Mario Kart 8 and ARMS.
