Thank you, thank you. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with the Bibio, tying it and at the end of your cast. I fished it from Spain to Norway and had fish everywhere on it. So it is a real allrounder. Tight lines and all the best, greetings from Ireland.
You were very right. Great fun tying and fishing the Bibio. Caught me two 25 cm trout to day under rainy conditions. I also tried out the Soldier palmer with succes. Thanks for the inspiration Dietrich and greetings from Denmark.
A very effective fly it saved me two times this year of going home as a Schneider !! It is real fun fishing wet flies wether in mountainlakes or in rivers, thanks Herr Bohnhorst for showing us this classic Irish pattern! It is an Irish one isn't it ??
Bibio is my when all else fails fly and I particularly like your dressing. I feel that the red is so important and much more visible with floss than seals fur.
Shayne Phelan Thank you Shayne. This Bibio is a very effective fly, catching fish almost everywhere and all the time. Though supposed to imitate the hawthorn fly, it imitates really all and everything, insectwise, somehow. That's probably the reason for its fish catching propensities.
Dietrich. Try using a lighter tying thread with your patterns. Try an 8/0 or 70 Denier. I think your bodies will be smoother and the heads a bit smaller.
Hi Dietrich I like a lot of people get a great deal of enjoyment from your videos of fly Fishing and indeed fly tying I have to say to you and your very entertaining and able fishermen friends, well done and long may it continue. I have to ask out of curiosity what make and where is that impressive fly tying vice from. Tight lines for 2020 good luck and good health to one and all. Regards Eddie
Hi Edward, thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, once the season starts we intend to do more fishing movies and, as you say, long may it continue. That vice was given to me by a friend, he in turn got it from a friend who made it as a prototype; alas, it never went into production, so it is a pretty unique little thing. All the best and take care, greetings, Dietrich.
Why I do not wonder that I am watching videos of a German living in Ireland. I know so many Germans living on this nice green island and oh wonder I am there too very often. But I fish further in the south around Lough Corrib. :D
I'm not much of a trout fisherman, but I Like your fly tying videos. Looks like a great place to fish. Do you have any videos on flies you would use for pike?
The guy at 5:20 is so crazy. These loughs are so freaking cold. :D But I understand his commitment I probably would have done the same especially if you really want that fish and the bait back. :D
Thank you Dietrich. I have been going to donegal for a long time to visit family and to fish. I have caught many trout but never a salmon. Not many videos on how to actually fish for a salmon.
I am going to tie the Bibio to day, hopping to have as much fun with it for the rest of the season as you have had. Excellent!

What a fly ' The Bibio'. Love watching your videos
Thank you, Graham.

Great, Ole. Very good to hear about you having fun with Bibio and Soldier Palmer. Greetings to Denmark from Donegal, Ireland.

Thank you, for your comment. It is an Irish one, tied first in the 1930s in Burrishoole.
All the Best for 2017 Dietrich, for you and your friends. lots of beautiful fish, Bertrand
Hello Bertrand, thank you for your greetings. Hope you have a great 2017 too, all the best and tight lines, Dietrich.
Great to look back,,,& Mr ron carlos
Looking back is great, sometimes.

Agreed floss slim body. Hen hackle on a 14 ✌

Thank you for the tip, David.

If you were still tying a bibio would you still tie them like this one
Exactly like that one.
The guy at 5:20 is so crazy. These loughs are so freaking cold. :D But I understand his commitment I probably would have done the same especially if you really want that fish and the bait back. :D
Yes, particularly since he was on the brink of loosing one of the Bibios tied by me. :D
Do you fish the Bibio the same way for trout and salmon?
Pretty much the same, just on salmon gear, of course.
Thank you Dietrich. I have been going to donegal for a long time to visit family and to fish. I have caught many trout but never a salmon. Not many videos on how to actually fish for a salmon.
If you have caught trout, you'll catch a salmon. Just stick with it and speak to local anglers, to get an idea of where to go when.
thank you for the advice. your videos keep me going until my next trip home
Thank you. Tight lines and take care.
Hilarious!
