Whats the ratio of the Nutrients in the water please?
Mike keeps it so real my 6 year old. Learned how to do it on lockdown! And has been seriously bit by the garden bug! Great job Mike! Farmer Lilly says high! Her basil garden is growing well
Awesome! That makes me smile! Tell Lilly Keely and I said Hi and we are proud of her!
@@KeepOnGrowin for sure! I have been sharing weekly on fb! Once they get big enough ahe is going to break off pieces for her second rail on the other side of our porch :) late is better than never! #growallthebasils
I think I live for these videos-So Inspiring! Love the clean-cut tape scene! Brilliant!
Thanks so much for sharing Mike!
Thank you Susan. I always appreciate you! Have an awesome week!
Sir your inspiration is contagious. I am new to the world of hydroponics however your level of enthusiasm and generosity to sharing your expertise is heart warming.
Thank you Nick. Comments like this make what I am doing worthwhile. Have a great day my friend.
I think it's amazing how thoughtful you are to come up with yet another way! God bless you above and beyond!!
Thank you Victoria, I really appreciate that.😎❤🌱
I wish i discovered your channel a long time ago. Ive spent a fortune over the years buying soil, amendments, tools, vertical stacking systems etc
I spent a lot over the years too, it is so much more satisfying for me now. Thank you!
Thanks. Now I'm going to soon be able to do my dream on my budget.
Interested in how the cut a hole 🕳 with cracking the top I have an idea how but always good to see someone show me the best way thanks Mike see on the next one 😁😺❤️✌🏼
If I you don’t have a drill, using a soldering iron (for about $6) to melt a circle.
This is brilliant in its simplicity. I love, love, love it! Thank you!!
You are so welcome! Have fun and Keep on Growin'!
On the totes though I have been buying 5 for 8 bucks at walmart not necessarily the disposable type. Heavier rubbermaid types. TC and ATB love ya for all ya do brother.
Thank you. Yes, those will last longer.
Newest continer has 1" holes. Cut plugs from car sponge to fill 1" holes in pool noodle or container.
Just found this channel and love it. Ordered drill bits today to make my own!
Awesome! Keep me updated!
Transparent container easy to grow algae.
Watch the video and listen
Thank you! You’re so sweet to share with us! God bless
Thank you too Jeanette! Have an awesome day my friend!
@@KeepOnGrowin thank you! You as well ❤️
Well done. New to this type of growing.
Awesome! Let me know if you have questions.
Very cool, I'm going to try this for my Basil. Thanks Mike!
Awesome Julie!!! Thank you!
I love this new technique.
Thank you Scully😎👍🌱🌱🌱🌱
Drill plastic in reverse, no burs. Just friction burn through.
Try cutting the pool noodle to fit container, split in half for 2 floating rafts with cut side down. Fit plants in the holes you cut in noodle.
That's a cool idea!
@@KeepOnGrowin $1 dollar store auto sponge makes soft 1 inch collars for sprouts.
@@KeepOnGrowin I float pool noodle slices in 8-24 oz plastic & styrofoam cups with several cuttings.
Don't have a pool noodle, then here's where all those rockwool cubes can come in handy.
Yeah but pool noodles are a lot cheaper and found at almost any dollar store all through the summer.
Im doing your way this winter Mike!
Mt man Brad!!! Awesome! Hope you are doing well my friend!
Can you grow broccoli and cauliflower in a tote inside the home this way
Thanks
You used a tube with sprayer but I didn't see it explained in this video. Where do I find them and how are they put together?
Not a sprayer, an aquarium pump and air stone.
Adding air adds magic
Yes it does!
Crap! Guess I need to buy a pump! 😉
The real business idea would be to sell containers with the holes already made. Alot of us don't have the tools to make them.
I sold a lot of downspouts, I just don't have the time to keep up. Maybe some others will.
can 1/2 strength seaweed fertiliser be used for hydroponic?
yes
Beside the pipe noodle what other material can you use? Can styrofoam, aquarium white filter, kitchen sponge, green flower arrangement sponge be used?
use your imagination and experiment
Hi , Mike. I am new to this . Just starting , with this container if I don't have the aeration will it work just as good ? Can regular led lights work for grow lights ? I am retired and have limited funds , so if you could recommend a low cost grow light that is budget friendly I would appreciate it . Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Have a great day Mike . Stay safe
Terry
Yes, you can do without the aeration. Start with LED shop lights.
Ok! I'm inspired! I want salad greens during the winter so I don't have to go out and shovel my car out. Can you tell us which pump you used in the video and whether you had to buy one for each container? Also, please link to the nutrients you recommend with a second option in case they are not available (I'm in The Great White North) Thank you so much Mike :)
Hey Kate, here is the nutrients: amzn.to/3H9chMy
The pump depends on the size, you need a larger one and a manifold to feed several containers.
So cool!
Thank you Jeannie!
Mike: Is Styrofoam safe to use for growing lettuce in? I have two large BEAUTIFUL Styrofoam boxes with fitted lids that my intravenous antibiotics & saline solution filled syringes came in. Can I use these? Thanks for any response. - Susan Burns
I don't know. You could always line it with a large plastic bag. (black)
Where's the buy one get one??
That was over a year ago.
Just got my 2 downspout planters and am now growing some fall microgreens to get started in the planters a couple of weeks. I'm so excited !!! I just have a question, Mike. If I don't use all the 5 gallons of nutrient liquid, can I store what's left?
By the way: I was doing some Dollar Store shopping and happened to notice those cup-shaped ashtrays with a cover that has a hole in the top where you would drop your cigarette butt into. They are heavy plastic and completely opaque. I figured they'd work as planters also, so I got a couple. We'll see!
@@KeepOnGrowin Many thanks!
Try dollar store auto sponge cutting 1 inch sleeves instead of pool noodles.
I agree...but pool noodles give you more collars
@@jujube2407 Pool noodles are 2 inch sleeves, not 1.
@@jujube2407 Newest vid is with 1" holes. Cut plugs from car sponge to fill 1" holes in pool noodle or container.
@@FlashToso where did you see Mike use a car sponge? I only saw holes cut from the pool noodle? Did I miss a step somewhere?
@@jujube2407 I suggested auto sponge since Mike wants soft sprout holders in 1 inch holes in pool noodles or containers.
I am seriously looking to possibly doing an indoor grow system. My only real worry is taste. Do these veggies taste good compared to garden grown veggies. My family doesn't like the chemical taste some veggies have when grown hydroponically.
Is the pool-noodle material toxic?
I don't think something a kid might bite on would be toxic
why not use an ice cream tub or other food container rather what looks like a purpose bought sandwich box. Recycle
Great idea!
@Barbara Rocca you should watch more of Mike's videos before jumping to conclusions....just sayin'
Mike - I bought a deburring tool at Lowe's that really cleaned up the ragged holes I was getting on my downspouts.
Kobalt Deburring Tool, Item #2146944 Model #58737 (half the price of Amazon)
I have several friends following your videos.
Thank you so much Ben!!😎👍🌱🌱🌱
