My niece had to sit on two chairs at Dennys, then it broke, it was so sad. We were having a hard time lifting her up. She was 25 years old, over 500 lbs. Sadly to say she died at the age of 32. She worked from home from her bed. Wish mounjaro would have been available then. Please, everyone, help yourself to get healthy. I am on mounjaro age 65 years old finally after 33 years under 200 lbs. From Austin Texas.
Wow, that's so profound Ali! I was tearing up as you were sharing your reasons because they resonated with my reasons so closely. Some I hadn't even admitted to myself. Thanks for being so vulnerable with our community ❤️
Wow - You are telling my story or what I thought was only MY story. The Harry Potter ride… I lived the same experience on a different ride. Had bruised ribs as my reward. The stairs and coming up with an excuse to stop and catch my breath so I didn’t pass out. So much misery and time wasted faking my way through life. Smiling through all those times I allowed people to make me feel like $#@% for being a fatty-fatty-boom-bah-lattie. Carrying on half my wardrobe when I flew to Paris because I knew if the airlines lost my luggage there was no way I could walk into a store and buy anything other than a scarf. No more freaking circus tent outfits that cost 4x what “normal” clothes cost. Thank you for the therapy session! I need to send you my co-pay for the visit.😊❤
You are SO REAL. Thanks for sharing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone sharing such an emotional topic in such a genuine way. Your wife is a lucky one. 💜🐾 (and so is Kevin, of course).
So much love to you Ali. I have been the fat spouse too, the need to eat, the one who slowed us down and stopped us from being able to do the fun things 😢. My reasons: Having energy to play with my future grandkids. Not dying first, my husband and I already buried a child I don't want him to have to bury me too. Better sex/ feeling more secure being naked with my husband. Being able to move easier and gaving less trouble breathing going up stairs. Less morning pain (my rheumatologist put me on zepbound to decrease inflammation) even if I didn't lose weight I feel like it would have helped.
OMG, I can so relate to this video. You probably already know this, but for me as a gay man, it is maybe even worse. Not all, but many in my tribe value looks above all else. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It’s nice to know we are not alone.
One of my many reasons is that I want to be in photographs with my children again. For several years I've been the one that takes the pictures to avoid the embarrassment of being photographed
I was in a friends wedding about 3 years ago and the bridal shop said they were just going to order the largest size bridesmaids dress for me and alter it down to make sure they had the right size since there weren't any close to my size to try on. 😔 I was devastated. Part of me felt like they just wanted to upcharge me the alternation fee. When the dress came in, I told them I'd alter it myself, and the head of the alterations department offered me a job! 🤷🏽♀️
I think you covered most all of the reasons. My very specific reasons are 1) I want to be healthy and active again and lower my blood pressure and 2) I want to be able to walk my dog again. He gets SO excited on the rare times I can manage to get out to walk him with my husband but chronic hip and back pain makes that impossible most of the time for me right now. It makes me so sad. Happy part though is I'm down 3lbs in week two on tirzepitide. Yay!!!
I was 425 pounds when I was given custody of my 1 year old grandson. I was mobile, but barely. Both he and my 4 teenage/young adult daughters deserved better. I was a single mom and in my late 40's. I still had alot of living to do. I can proudly say that 6 years later, I am 161, happy, healthy and active. I am living life to my fullest, and my now 7 year old grandson is able to do all the things, because I am fully able too! We have Universal and Disney annual passes and enjoy going to the parks frequently, as we are locals. For many many years, I was too big for the rides, and at one point stopped going to the parks, because the walking was too physically demanding. It is SOOOO refreshing now, that I don't have to fear doing the walk of shame, after not fitting on a ride. It too, happened to me at the Harry Potter castle. It was so humiliating to me. 😢
I have lived with all those "fat fears" for 60 years. Going out to eat...thinking everyone is judging my food, afraid of booths. Flying...the attendant standing at the front of the plane asking who needed the seat belt extender. You have hit so many, many real life situations. I'm sitting here feeling sad about all the times I missed out because I just couldn't do things. Thank you for putting it all into words.
My reasons for going on Mounjaro was my blood sugars were getting out of control (I'd swing from 250 after breakfast to 70 by lunchtime). I probably would have asked for another diabetes pill (in addition to my metformin) but then I had bloodwork done and had two liver enzymes that were high. After doing my research I asked the doctor about Ozempic. My doctor said Moujaro had fewer side effects so that is what she prescribed. My a1c and liver enzymes are back to normal levels. I don't think I ever had an a1c of 5.2 before. The weight loss is just a wonderful side effect.
All of the above…and then some! There are a couple more that I can add to my “why” list. I want to feel ok to have my picture taken so my kids and grandkids can remember me when I’m gone. Also, personal hygiene was getting more challenging at my HW of 311. Thankfully, I’m down about 80 lbs (not all from Mounjaro) and feeling younger and more vibrant than I have felt in a very long time! Thanks for keepin’ it real Ali!
Not enough people talk about the rides. It’s a HUGE factor for me personally. It’s really insane how much it affected me. Looking back it really is so emotional, I wish I could go back and hug my pre-GLP1 self. We are avid theme park goers and it was awful every time there was a lap bar. Whether it fit or not, then if it did and it was a shared lap bar my kids would be falling out because it barely kept them safe covering my huge belly. 😢 never mind the attraction photos. I remember having to get an employee to help me push it down so it would lock shut. It is the best NSV now to go to the theme parks, what a great feeling for your butt to fit in the seat! And feel secure in the lap bars. And not sweat to death 😂
Oh boy I feel all of this so much!! ❤ My last trips to Disney and Universal over the summer were a huge wake-up call for me. Having to adjust and barely fitting, being so miserable from all the walking… I decided to ask my doctor about Zepbound shortly after. Going to Disney again tomorrow, 50 pounds lighter, and I cannot wait to see how much more enjoyable it all is!!!! 🎉
Thank you so much for putting the truth out there, I get a little tired of all of the videos and comments that say oh I’m doing it for the Health, yes, of course we are doing it for the Health. I love that all my labs are improved, that being said, of course we want to look better. We want to look thinner. We want to have cuter clothes, but people seem embarrassed to say that. I don’t get it. Just be honest, there are multiple reasons we want to lose the weight. And they’re all fine.
Aww that put a lump in my throat 😢 I’m on this mission to be a fun Nanny for my 20mnth old Grandson, which involves jumping and running and being goofy, all the things he will love and my Daughter will also love watching. For my younger Daughter also, who enjoys fitness and swimming and holidays lol, can’t wait to not feel conscious at pools and beaches and not be wrapped in a towel!! Most of all I’m doing it for my mental health as well as physical health. I want to see my young family go through life and be here for them to lean on ❤
Great Video. I have million reasons or at least 467 . One of my reasons is to fit on rollercoaster rides. I have had to do the walk of shame after not fitting on the Batman ride at 6 flags. When i started I could barely do stairs and there better be a strong railing. for me to hang on to. So my main reason is to get my life back tie my shoes fit in a booth I could go on and on . These drugs have saved my life.
Wowww you have me sitting here crying cause I understand and feel your pain with everything your saying I had so many of the same feelings people just don’t know what we go thru on a daily basis but now we cry tears of joy cause we are so much better thanks for always expressing these things and thoughts ❤🙏🥰
Almost everything you describe, that was me😢 I'm so grateful for mounjaro, now compound. I don't want to go back to that old me because I was very unhappy. Thank you for sharing, and Ali, I'm so proud of you🙏🏾🙏🏾
You are ABSOLUTELY the best. So vulnerable and so many of the same thoughts that I have had all my life. I actually flew without a seat belt years ago before knowing there were extenders. I put a blanket over me so the stewardess didn’t notice. So stupid to put ourselves at such risk. So nice now to not have to get to a restaurant early so I could make sure we get a table, not a booth. So much time wasted beating ourselves up and blaming ourselves when it was our bodies that weren’t doing what they are supposed to. Truly the only thing my mom, who was so wonderful, ever fought with me about was my weight. She would say you are so good at everything, why can’t you lose weight? ❤❤❤
I dealt with most if not all of those situations. How painful. I don’t ever want to take for granted being able to fit or act however. I’ll never forget having to use a mobility scooter at Disney. Thank you!
I see you, I went quite some time ago to Disney in CA. When I started to be unable to get weight off, I remembered seeing folks trying to fit, for the sake of who they were with. I was quickly gaining >50#. Food noise, had never heard before, but it was loud. Pre-diabetic, cholesterol through the roof. Worked hard with diet, but Twizlers were my insomnia friend. Im only 65! I want to live!! I want to do all the things in retirement besides being a couch potato. 😘🙃
Wow Ali. I have never heard someone explain it so well. It felt awesome to hear you explain my experiences and feelings in such an articulate way. You're fabulous! Thank you.
Ali, you forgot I just want to be accepted because of who I am instead of how I look! I have spent lots of dollars to dress so people wouldn’t see a fat slob. I am seeing therapist now to learn to value myself because I have accepted the world’s treatment of me as a fat woman, they didn’t see a reason to respect me as a brilliant, kind, loving and giving woman. Their loss! GLP1 gave me a chance to fight back! It’s worth for me has been a serious Me First movement that has made me be self full now because I deserve more! So glad to find you Ali! You have made my journey a hoot!!! This video was the best!!! Love you my sister!!!! We are worthy!!!
I feel so bad that you went through so many negative experiences with your weight. I feel blessed that my own experiences pale in comparison. The rarity of family commenting on my weight or eating habits. Even now comments are restricted to making sure I'm eating healthy for my diabetes. Not too much candy or sweets and half the time I remind them I can't eat too much sugar. My reasons for losing weight are truly related to my health I want my diabetes under control. I want to keep up with my nephew. I want to feel strong. I dont want to die young from diabetes complications. I want to witness all the accomplishments of my siblings and their families and be there to celebrate with them. My heart aches for you and what you went through. I hope you experience only positive things in your journey forward. I wish you good health, fun, and joy
Felt this to the core. Those who know know. When I see those who are 300, 400 pounds or more acting like its not a struggle and all is great I just feel for them because that was me… I have family members like this. Its so freeing on the other side and I want that for them. Everyone has to make the change when they are ready so I never say anything, but we cant deny the fact that being a “normal” size vs morbidly obese isnt easier… It just is, in every aspect. Im finally free 🙏🏻
Ali i could relate to every single one of those. Thank you for being so transparent and putting it all out there. I was always the funny one of our group. The bigger the issue, the more embarrassed I was. I always put a funny spin on it and tried to laugh it off. To detour my friends from my embarrassment. Yes, I was the funny one, but really crying inside.
Thank you so much. My reason are the same as yours and more. I want to be the best and original version of me for myself, my family, and the vocation to which I am called.
Even at a fairly normal weight/BMI, I have difficulty getting things that fit because of bone structure. The "average" woman is 5'4" with a much smaller bone structure. I am 5'8"--not gigantic, but with a much heavier bone structure. My non-fat weight is 115#--add in the fat that we all carry around and you can figure out what I weigh. I wear a 12 pants because my body type is rectangular with a straight waist and women's pants are made with a smaller waist. Why am I on Mounjaro--to manage T2D. It works. I wanted to be small all of my life. Now I just accept who I am and this is the way I am made.
Excellent video Ali! Thanks for the transparency & vulnerability. I could feel so much of what I've experienced through your truths. People who love us will try to understand, but as someone who still struggles with a desire for invisibility, my biggest roadblock is understanding myself.
Ali, you make my day - I love your "wideos" (I'm dying!!!) 😂 Your reasons are all my reasons - I'm 5'3" and was 262 pounds. This journey of 18 months has brought me to a weight of 147 pounds and better physical as well as better mental health. Keep up the amazing work, videos, and posts, my friend!!! ❤
Of course we want to be healthier. And all the same reasons you mentioned. And I don’t want to worry when my boss asks if I want a new office chair and my first thought is does it have arms, will I fit, what is the weight limit? I said yes to the chair and for months I sat in it so gingerly. And it has arms so I’m using it to measure my shrinking hips. 😂 And I want to fly comfortably on a plane and not have to pay extra to ensure I can get the window seat because I’m terrified of getting a middle seat.
Ali, you are amazing. Thank you so much for these reminders. And for your vulnerability. You impress me every day but this one had to be hard. You are appreciated! 🥰
Excellent video, you speak for a lot of us that are too ashamed to admit it, mounjaro is definitely a game changer and I feel it has even the playing field for all of us disadvantage players in all categories. I love mounjaro it has put an end to all of the snakes that have drilled holes in our pockets with those fake diet pills and drinks that don't do anything except keep you giving them more and more money and praying for a miracle. The sad part is I have heard people online talking bad about mounjaro and ozempic like it's a bad thing and trying to shame us for using them but I feel they're just jealous and insecure and they know the playing field is getting even now and they are losing their home court advantage
I’m so sorry you had all those rude, hateful comments! Celebrate your weight loss victory! You are amazing! 🤗 As always, I Love your videos. You are so kind and inspiring. I admit that vanity is one reason I want to lose weight, but I realize that if I get to a healthy weight I will have less risk of many serious diseases and I will improve my chances of living longer. It’s so good to do something good for myself after the first 38 years of my life being told I don’t matter and I’m worthless-but that’s another story and it’s ancient history now. 😊
I am a twin and we are both big. I remember in middle school, kids making fun if us because we were big. They would call us Bing and bong walking down the hallway nit realizing how much that hurt.
I know how you felt Ali, but you’ve done a great job. And still accomplishing your goal. I am trying to do the same. Great job keep it up. Everything you say makes me try harder.
Ali, this is GREAT! We all say (and mean it) that we want to lose weight for our health (especially T2Ds like us), but these other things you mention are super important, too. Your list has inspired me to write my own list of all the reasons I want to lose weight. I think it's going to be a pretty long list! I identify with the amusement ride story. I squeezed into a ride on the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas so that my son and I could ride together. They had to use multiple tricks to finally get the latch to close (skootch this way, hold your belly that way, deep breath, etc.). It was mortifying. Thanks for all the great "wideos!" 😉
Why would anyone ask someone that?! I understand all your reasons. I hope you get to where ever you want to be weight wise. You will always be a beautiful and wonderful person no matter your size. I like when I get my blood sugar in the prediabetic range and insist I want it in the normal range and the doctor says It's okay we just want it under 7. Oh no, I want to be normal not just a point or so away from diabetes. The medicine got me to the overweight range and I stopped losing and the doctor acts like it's okay cause you've lost 76 lbs. Oh no, if I'm going to go through buying and taking this medicine and putting up with all this I insist on getting to the normal range and having a few pounds up or down for a cushion so I don't have to worry about diabetes anymore. I got off of two insulins and I will NEVER go back. I've been diabetic for 24 years. Mounjaro literally saved my life.
Great video, sorry for 2nd comment, I got interrupted watching yesterday but 😂 I want to reduce weight for many of the reasons you mentioned but this is really making me think about it more … homework😘
My wake up was at Universal as well when I took my boys. I hadn’t even realized how big I had gotten. I plan on taking them back and we will have a totally different experience. They were and are supportive btw…all of my kids are.
To be seen and not the one in any crowd that everyone gets as far as they can from. To do my job without being out of breath, tired , hungry and angry all the time. To have energy to be there for others rather than my food task master.
Great video as always that resonated deeply with me. I keep a daily gratitude journal and I think I need to incorporate all the reasons. I am grateful for with weight loss. I’m type 2 and of course, my journey is for that reason, but there are so much more, like how my husband is a runner and it is something I could never have aspired to do until now. We used to walk the dogs twice a day during Covid and I used all of the excuses that you have used just to catch my breath and take a break. Thank you for being so open and vulnerable.
I cannot explain enough how much I hate Layne Bryant. Their clothing is such low quality, but for many, many years, it was my only option. Their clothing shrinks, after a few washes, looks like crap and so many of their styles are so unflattering. I had great luck with Avenue, I am actually sad about not shopping with Avenue anymore because I don't like a lot of the modern day fashions. Modern day fashion has inspired me to take up sewing again. When I was in my at teens, I worked at a fabric store, the mature ladies I worked with taught me how to sew my own clothing. I could get everything for free from the store and display my creation for one month, then it was mine. I have not touched a sewing machine in over 20 years. I have purchased a sewing machine and a coverstich/serger and ordered a bunch of vintage patterns off of ebay. I am in the process of making my first dress in over 20 years and I am so excited. My first dress is a vintage Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress from the 1970's.
Breaking a chair at a bbq . Everyone concerned about me and also laughing . Walking across the street and having a carful of teenage yelling out. “ hey fatty fatty. OMG . Thanks for your vulnerability. I have lost 90lbs . I can forget sometimes how bad it was.
Plus size clothing also seems to be made cheaply. Cold shoulder 😂 holy crap try fitting in an MRI machine they are gonna shove you in there no matter how much it hurts and breathing? Forget it. Horrid.
This was a sincere and thoughtful video- thoughts so often unspoken on social media. Thank you- brought a tear of agreement, chuckles of “yes! Me too” I’m going to watch again- this is a keeper. 🥰❤️😳⏮️⏪⭐️😥😉🥰🤣

Their loss! GLP1 gave me a chance to fight back! It’s worth for me has been a serious Me First movement that has made me be self full now because I deserve more! So glad to find you Ali! You have made my journey a hoot!!! This video was the best!!! Love you my sister!!!! We are worthy!!!
Right back atcha Sister!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
These Scenario are all perfect examples of what I go through.
My reasons for losing weight are truly related to my health
I want my diabetes under control.
It will be!🎉
Felt this to the core.
7:32 hi Bear!! 🐻 Showing Bear some love! 🩵🩵
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg..my heart hurts for you! your Universal story is my story..but at Disney World and it was a work event and I was the biggest person in the group 😢
Be healthier. Look nice in my clothes. Feel confident. I was small all my life until health issues. I want to take my life back.❤
Excellent video Ali!
🤗 As always, I
Love your videos.
Very Profound. Thanks for sharing.
Love it. Great video.
Great one because this is so true. Love you Ali and what you do and say for us.
WOW, it’s like you are reading my life story Ali! Loved this video…❤
So many of the same reasons I am on this journey and ugh flowers!
Oh, man...I have been there, done that...thanks for video
Welcome for da wideos 😂 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great post very relatable
The ride!! Been there…
My wake up was at Universal as well when I took my boys.
What is your K9 channel? And you are a breath of seriously fresh, smart, honest air!

Brutally honest. Kudos. Have you found that being a You Tuber has helped you lose more weight and keep it off longer than if you were not a You Tuber?
Almost made me cry today. Universal last month was a nightmare at 275. It was so demoralizing.
Nope. I lied. Now fully in tears after reading the comments 😢
Sending hugs!!!!!
me too. It’s not surprising that we have all had experiences like this. Very painful…😭💜🐾
Thanks Ali
I feel like my family and friends comment on my body and watch what I eat more now that I have lost over 75lbs.
That’s gotta be rough. (((Hugs)))
This is true, don’t forget to set boundaries ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@FitFlavorFun I was caught off guard but you are right. I will be prepared next time.
Your beautiful face on the thumbnail 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
💚💚💚💚💚
I wuv your wideos 😊❤
I wuv YOU!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
@FitFlavorFun right back at ya ❤️
Ugh, so many feelings of the past…I can so relate.
I’m not crying.
Sending you hugs❤️❤️❤️❤️
More ((((hugs)))). Me too😢
I had no idea they had “do you fit” things like that. They didn’t have things like that the last time we went to a park. I’m so sorry.
I think I’ll start with the carbs
Hi ALIS can you send me the FDA link to report zepbound shortage here in Puerto Rico everything is red Thanks maria
Same! 🤗
Bottom line is I want to feel better AND look better.
Breaking a chair at a bbq . Everyone concerned about me and also laughing . Walking across the street and having a carful of teenage yelling out. “ hey fatty fatty. OMG . Thanks for your vulnerability. I have lost 90lbs . I can forget sometimes how bad it was.
So relatable..."thin and pretty" your face looks so thin now???
Thank you!!!! It’s the camera angle ;)
I found the south was especially brutal with the fat shaming comments. Signed, "Such a pretty face" 😢
Soooo true
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
🧡🧡
❤😢
You forgot one reason, probably because you're younger. One of my reasons is that I don't want to die fat.
Me too”
I’m going to watch again- this is a keeper.
🥰❤️😳⏮️⏪⭐️😥😉🥰🤣
