    Wow! The building blocks of soloing HEAVEN! To step this out like this is so kind and generous Charlie, Thank you 🙏🕊️ So important to keep in mind ttat scale and shape learning is just to get familiar with the fretboard. Ive only recently started getting a bit more confident in the major arpeggio/pentatonic/full scale shapes and it is so easy to get hypnotized into hearing these as the end goal. i noticed my pets will settle down and get sleepy as im practicing... I think the harmony of the scales played gently and fluently just adds that atmosphere of peace, the ole "music hath charms to soothe the wild beast" thing. Made me realise i could get caught in practicing that way forever.. what a nice place to be.. but theres a side of me that wants to rock too.. te he he.. time and place for everything...
    Thanks again!!! Legend!
    Have a great week!!!
    😎🙏🕊️✨🎸😉

    So when you’re playing the Dm7 arp in the beginning of the video, as an example, are you technically descending the D Dorian scale (aka C Major) or are you descending the D Minor scale?

      @CharlieLongGuitar  Месяц назад +3

      @@Mikeaguado great question - it’s D Dorian. All those examples were from the key of C major. 🎸🎶🔥🎶🎸

    I blame myself for lack of progress in soloing. I've done the nuts & bolts work but seem to lack the creativity in spontaneously improvising melodies.

    Good lesson! My favorite was B min 7 you added C# note? B min 7 add 9? You didn't use (B min 7 add 9)when you played along backing track did you?? Maybe I'm wrong? When I hear guitarist say "it's not about technique".they are beginner. Because advanced guitar (you DONT want to LIMITED by technique. A flamenco dancer would NOT hire a guitarist like Slash' to perform with. Slash is flat picker limited by technique.flamenco requires basic fundamental no matter how much Spanish guitar slash knows.

    Thank you for this. IJS, if you can’t apply them “real world,” all the techniques are basically useless. This is how dudes wind up in “scale jail,” get bored, discouraged, even give up the instrument. My experience, anyway?
