I think that putting half of the list in reserve may have helped more. In this way you have less "traffic" on the board and it become a bit more realistic...@@theministryofminiatures
@samreds6808 maybe, Michael wanted to run long ways as he wanted it to be difficult for the Germans to make it off of the board (possibly scoring extra points), and probably worried that his second wave would then not arrive as they were all inexperienced! The width would have given us an extra 50% space, but we will take that into consideration for future games 👍🏻
What a brutal slugging match! The Soviets really came out punching at the start. I do agree with what you said about playing length ways to avoid the bottlenecks on the field. However, this battle report was fantastic. Glad to see you getting more Patreon supporters too, very well deserved!
Thank you, our Operation Barbarossa campaign is well underway now and hoping to fight all the way to Stalingrad and back to Berlin! Thanks again for the comment, it is much appreciated 👍🏻
Great battle report. Love the content. Bigger table for this many dice for sure. As soon as Russian infantry came on I thought to myself nooooooo! vehicles first with infantry supporting!
Yes agreed! Was a fun battle but should’ve either gone across the wide edge or doubled up… The infantry for the Soviets definitely hindered his ability to maximise the fire power of those tanks… lucky for me 😉
The list for SD Kfz 250's are 1 is the transport variant just like the larger 251, 250/1, the 2 was for field communications wire laying type with a spool on the back to string field phone lines between front line areas to rear switchboards and phone exchanges. 3 was the field communications/ command with the steel frame aerial bed frame mast. 250/4 prototype anti air with dual MG-34's but never entered service despite Warlord adding it to the 250/7 model kit. Then the 250/4 Beobachtungspanzerwagen/ for forward observers attached to Stug 75mm batteries to direct fire from said Stugs that didn't see the target due to terrain blocking with indirect fire. 250/5 another command variant with more powerful and longer range radios with the same bed frame steel antenna as the 3. 250/6 ammo carrier usually towing an ammo carrier trailer for 75mm rounds for Stug units. 250/7 is a 81mm mortar carrier for moving and shooting to avoid counter battery fire. 250/8 had the same L24 short 75mm cannon that the 251/9 Stummel for fire support for the troop carrier 250/1's. 250/9 is the recon variant with the 222 turret with 20mm auto cannon and coaxial MG/34. 250/10 was recon leader variant with Pak 36, 37mm anti tank gun. 250/11 had the 2.8 cm squeeze bore AT gun. 250/12 was forward enclosed armored spotter vehicle for field artillery units instead of Stug units like the 250/4 did. Just figured I would add the list so as to tell what they are without trying to guess.
another great battle report what a massive game! @16:15 your panzer 2's should get two shots each (and all auto cannons I realize you most likely just forgot during the turn ) . Just so you know you would need a tow to bring the flak 88 on due to its sheer size . Those I want say T-35s look beastly. keep up the great games you guys are amazing!
Yes I probably forgot, the 88 we agreed would be allowed one free move on, in essence being set up by the crew. I think the Soviet heavy and larger tanks dominated the field, but sadly were hindered by not moving forward… close game up until the end. Next game in the campaign is the encirclement at Kiev…
Yes it would… we would just struggle to put two tables together! although I think playing across the long edge would also have helped… …thanks for the suggestion and comment, much appreciated 👍🏻
Really enjoyed watching this one play out. I've played a number of scenarios and often been frustrated by the ineffectiveness of the light autocannons on the German vehicles. Not second guessing but "maybe" the two stugs could have been more effective if moved and firing over direct sights as opposed to just becoming mortars? Also with all of the buildings and congestion did the Pak 36 even get off a shot?
Love the terrain mat...Looks like a Geek Villain one....Im planning a Russian campaign...any suggestions on which ones to go for if this is a Geek Villain...thinking of savannah or stoney ground
Hi the mat is from Gale Force 9. We have a great selection of mats, but by far the bast value and versatile are the Geek Villain mats. I always try to get mats that can be used in different areas, so get the bast value for money… either of those Geek villain mats would work well as you will likely add scenery on to it too 👍🏻
Cool report. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend.
Thank you for the sub and comment, much appreciated 👍🏻
Have a great weekend too!

Epic
Thank you, was a long tough game!
Been looking forward to this one!
Thank you, we are slowly getting through the campaign…. Kiev encirclement after this one.

Thank you 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it, we are getting through it nicely now… still a fair few battles to Stalingrad and back to Berlin though!
That was pretty intense
Thank you, our Operation Barbarossa campaign is well underway now and hoping to fight all the way to Stalingrad and back to Berlin!
Thanks again for the comment, it is much appreciated 👍🏻
I really do love watching you battle reports. May I ask what colour grey for the tanks? I've used German grey vallejo on mine and it seems too dark
Thank you, comments are always appreciated 👍🏻
The base coat is Vallejo Primer: German Panzer Grey. Hope that helps?
Thanks a lot.
You’re welcome 👍🏻

Love your knowledge and insight, and thanks for the comment… great bit of background information 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing
great game chaps
Thank you 👍🏻

A little bit crowded, but great work as allways.🙂
Indeed, should’ve played across the long edge… will remember that for next time 👍🏻
A bigger map would have worked better ;)
Btw really cool battle!! We all need more of these!
Yes it would… we would just struggle to put two tables together! although I think playing across the long edge would also have helped…

What a game!!!! Love the T28s. Who makes them?
Hi, thanks… it was a tough game, but great to play.
The T28’s are by Mad Bob’s Miniatures, reasonably priced and very nice models!

I agree, unfortunately space was tight so really should’ve played width ways to create more space and more opportunities… I’ll get him next time!

The sdkfz 250/9 unfortunately didnt enter service untill late 1942
Oh well, maybe the Germans sent the trial version to the Eastern Front a little early 😉😂
How many points was this game?
Good question! Michael wanted a big tank battle with all his Stalingrad tanks… so we did, just not really sure how many points that is!?!?
