This Car , when you can drive it properly, gives a lot of goosebumps and smiles. But It can scare you sometimes also. I will never sell our E55K. (Germany).
I keep coming back to watch this video! I found a well maintained 2 owner E55 with under 100k miles about 2 years ago and have been slowly replacing the suspension bushings, flex discs, mounts etc. and did an i/c pump upgrade and a VRP clutched 77mm blower pulley w/RaceIQ tune. I’m looking for some long tubes headers and going to do 550lph injectors, a looped fuel rail and 80mm t/b and ported blower inlet while I’m in there. Since COVID I have only put 9000 miles on it and I get all of my maintenance parts from FCP Euro and just did an oil change, conductor plate and fluid service so I hope to keep it forever and have already turned down random people offering to buy it!
I've got a 04 E55K 7 seater Estate. Absolutely love it. Sounds amazing, immense torque but super comfy seats and air ride. New ones are too stiff cheaper interior and rock hard seats .
If there’s been one odd obsession I’ve had with a car I never owned it’s this bad boy. Ultimate daily with an attitude. Glorious exhaust note out of that v8, pretty quick, super comfy and roomy for yourself and passengers. And best of all, extremely affordable right now. I add a lot of power to my cars so I always stuck with Audi for its AWD traction but was always tempted by this baby. Great review👍
I own an 05 C55 and have had zero issues with it. Only 81k miles. Same motor but no super charger. I’d love to own an E55 for a weekend car. C55 is a great daily and sounds exactly the same minus the whine.
IIya PimpDaddy and no airmatic suspension and braking issues like the E55. I might drop a M113K in my C55 some day but that will be a few years down the line. Once I have an Accord 2.0T for a daily to replace this and just use my C55 for fun.
Just Wryt the E55 really is and these aren’t constantly broken. The V10 M5 is commonly know as a problem child to even BMW fans. It’s an awful car. You can buy an E55 with low miles for $14, they’re are very reliable and get an ECU flash and do 200mph all you like. The community and support for these cars is massive. Don’t take my word for it. Call some euro tuning shops and ask them what they think.
The E55 is a great car with virtually no engine/trans issues.. makes it difficult to compare it to a E60 M5 with virtually every trans/engine issue.. I own an E60 myself, but the 550i m -sport, that's the E60 to get
Austin H while the e55 is great and the tranny and engine are very reliable the air suspension has problems failing and that can be very expensive to replace and I’ve heard that the break system is kinda finicky
Back again on that great Channel. The W211 model is the best E-Class ever made by Mercedes Benz. I own one of the first models built in 2002 with now 300K Kilometers. M113 is a real beast-machine. This car will never getting old. It's timeless...

Mercedes V-8s sound so damn good. This one especially, Sheesh! Only motors I can think of that sound as good(to me at least) are Chevy LS motors. Especially with a supercharger. But I don't know, Mercedes may have the edge sound wise. My old man has a Tundra with an exhaust alone, and that Toyota 5.7 sounds pretty damn good too. Sound is the main thing is dislike about all of the turbo 6 cylinders nowadays. I know they make good power and some of them sound decent but for the most part you just can't beat the sound of a V-8, especially with a blower.
Glad to see the distinction as the M113 is 5.4L in this case, the 5.5 NA engine is a 4valve coupled with the 7G tronic as it needs the closer ratios. Not less power than the M5 which came out later so on paper it had to have more, but it's not any faster. It's not a progressive ratio steering, it's the car leaning so the effect of turning is delayed

In the old days, all you had to have was a glimpse of a car and you could identify it. Sometimes now you have to take a doubletake to figure out if you're looking at Land Rover or Kia. I think we're entering the last decade or two of cars as we know them. ICEs will be replaced by EVs, and car ownership will change.
Im looking for a E55 here in Germany at the moment. Unfortunately the E55 doesn't sell AT ALL here at the used car market so Im a bit concerned that I will never be able to sell it again...But its a fantastic car!
I bought one (550hp) in Germany, early this year. I dont sell it again. It is not a Car ( as all with lot hp) for people with normal income, except you work yourself on Cars. Expensive in maintaining, insurance, Petrol. In this case , it is better to rent supercars for a day or Weekend. .. and you have to learn to drive such cars properly and safe on real german streets ( I come from 350hp).
Peter Hert Unterhalt ist eher das kleinste Problem. Auch Reparaturen sind bis auf SBC ja ziemlich günstig bei dem Auto. Da ich selber bei Mercedes arbeite eh kein Problem. So ein Auto fährt man ja eh nicht als Daily driver. Ich mach mich nur sorgen dass man selber so doof ist das Auto zu kaufen und es dann nie mehr los wird. Die meisten E55 stehen Monate lang und für wie viel die verkauft werden weiß kein Mensch. Das stört mich an dem Auto.

Same. I have the S550 and was thinking about getting an S63. The 550 motor is really great though. It’s super fast for what it is and surprises a lot of people. Have you modded you E550?
Tyler Beeson not yet but I have seen tune kits from OE for less than 700 that opens up the throttle response of the car and give you a bit more HP and torque.
I have a 07 E550 as well with O.E Tune. Very smooth motor and it has a slight kick in power just slight when it hits 4000rpms love the way it pulls but still pedal lag regardless of the tune just slightly better.
Stealth 63 I also have the OE Tuning kit on my S550 and it really opened the car up. It’s much faster and will easily light up the rear tires all the way to 50 mph with traction off and a good launch. I got mine on sale and it was like $450 total for the tune and MyGenius upload device. I highly recommend it. But one caveat is you have to have access to a windows computer because the software isn’t compatible with Mac. Used my friends computer and it was relatively painless.

Unless that is aftermarket interior trim and headliner I think this is a presidential edition which are crazy rare (only 7 were built). If so it's insane that someone did the E63 front kit/repainted/modified it. What a waste SMH.
Haha, I couldn't hold myself back, they at 1:45 of this video you start talking about car, you say " 2008 E55" they didn't make E55 that year, E55 is 2003-2006 only, anything up is E63.
I used a lowering link off ebay to lower the front and a razor blade needs to be thin in between the lowering bracket and the frame to lower the rear. Hard to explain how I lowered the rear.
One of the baddest ass cars I’ve ever owned. Took me a week to find the traction control button then you can whip it around like a vette. I roasted a set of tires off easily.
Austin Melser I did but I left the comment because how can you love a car and been wanting to drive it and get the engine size wrong and the year...back when the E55 was out it was for the engine. The M156 cars used the 6.3 badge as a way to describe engine size and homologation back towards the first AMG.

2006 was the last year for the supercharged e class. 2007 and up was the n/a 6.2 in which they labeled it as the e63.

Had my 04 for a year at this point. Done lots of maintenance and a few repairs as I noticed things but overall very pleased.

Simple spring in the door lock that is cheap and easy to replace
The throttle lag is probably the early drive by wire pedal. My c230 had the same hesitation if you floored it

Check your motor mounts and transmission mounts - notorious for wearing out and causing vibration
If it's referred to my car they were changed 2 months before with tranny mount.

I used a lowering link off ebay to lower the front and a razor blade needs to be thin in between the lowering bracket and the frame to lower the rear. Hard to explain how I lowered the rear.

Austin Melser I did but I left the comment because how can you love a car and been wanting to drive it and get the engine size wrong and the year...back when the E55 was out it was for the engine. The M156 cars used the 6.3 badge as a way to describe engine size and homologation back towards the first AMG.
