    Just finished it.
    Last sex scene was. What. The. Fuck.
    I like the representation of psychological trauma and character building.
    Overall pretty decent manga.

    Just fully finished the homunculus manga and damn, I love your interpretation of the story. Also also I kinda felt like this whole manga was telling a story about a self loathing narcissist. I cross checked Nakoshi's character with common traits associated with this personality disorder and bro fit the description so well, he fit 13/14 of the traits. I think this story is a cautionary tale, warning us about the dangers of having low self esteem and a poor sense of self.

    Uroboros
    ( ouroboros)
    Is a pretty good manga, you may enjoy. It tackles a lot of real life problems that exist in japan, but many other countries have the same issues.
    ( Living in Japan, knowing how they hid information about Fukushima, and continue to hide CV19 issues. And how the government will halt ones naturalization process( citizenship) for even claiming anything slightly negative about any part of its government. I’m surprised how much the manga tackled, and real classes some of the stories were based on.)
    Also Sun Ken Rock is another manga I think you’d really enjoy. The art is truly astonishing. ( Above things like Vagabond & Berserk, due to how many different styles are used.)
    Thanks for reviewing this! Haven’t heard of it before!

    SPOILER******************
    ive read a chapter where the protagonist is getting his right eye stitched, i was under the ketamine (went to k-hole) and the experience was outstanding.
    I was in the world of homunculi and whatever was happening i experienced it to the fullest and i can totally tell the experience was as same as watching a 3d movie.
    other than that, i think i can easily place Homunculus in top 3 and ive read more than enough mangas in my life..
    there was a lot of mental moments and kinda got the me thinking about stuff and i'm really grateful for this masterpiece (had read it at least 3 times to fully understand the entirety of this masterpiece)

    There was something so fkn haunting about that ending, man. So many elements converging and pretty much no words. Just seeing how gone and demented Susumu became, while also seeming so peaceful - man! And not even knowing what really happens, just that scenery, Manabu crying, policemen just going for Susumu. I don't know, it did something to me, I'm not good enough in this language to properly describe it.

    I remember the car scene with the mc and the girl-- and a lot of ppl thought it was disgusting. When you delve deeper, I realized how since the girl felt so tied down by the norms her parents put on her, that feeling of the "grossness" is what made her move on. Made her feel in control and independent. Ik it sounds terrible but that's how I took it lol. She even says it herself as the blood splatters on the window calling it, "beautiful" (one of my fav panels.) What do you think? also, awesome analysis.

    • @user-kb2ti4zo3q
      @user-kb2ti4zo3q 2 года назад +20

      I think most people understand the scene, but having a character liberated through rape is not a good trope no matter the context

    • @roverlimao1944
      @roverlimao1944 2 года назад +4

      The car part with the girl doesn't make sense to me. She felt bad about being forced by her parents to follow the rules and not having control over her life. And he "cures" her by forcing her to have sex and taking away her control?????

    • @Neinteen91
      @Neinteen91 Год назад +7

      Nakoshi didn't rape her to "cure" her but more so following the girl's homonculi, or her deep desire, which also was his own desire, of wanting to become whole and that the only way to fill the unsatisfaction from lack of identity was to have sex. He was also disgusted of himself and her homonculi because her body was made by symbols and numbers which reminded of his trauma from his old job which involved driving companies into bankruptcy and affected many lives, and felt the need to punish her/himself. Yeah there's actually alot of layers to that scene.
      Edit I do not support any act of sexual assault and rape even in stories, and hopefully people don't interepret this rape scene in a wrong way. I think the writer wrote this scene to show how the main character was starting to lose the grip with reality, and the nasty side of power dynamic in sex.
