It amazing how much influence P.T made for this game. The hallway lights, the close up in the face...Basically yeah outlast was out before but if P.T wasn't made, I'm pretty sure this game wouldn't look like this.

It looks great a game that is only about escaping dangerous things that you can´t do anything to them because they are immortal and 10 times more dangerous than you. Besides that the person that incarnates does not move like a real person, but yes like a slug.
Personal pro's and cons from this trailer and the demo:- Pro: -An Inventory system with limited space. -Limited ammo. -The setting is one isolated location. -Backtracking and looking for items. -Multiple endings. Cons: -Enemies are way too scripted and predictable (atleast from the demo), and some of them in the trailer seem to be a bit scripted. -You can't experiment with items on contraptions, making the the "Use" option on the menu totally useless...you just just press X on the contraption and it's only available when you have the right item, and on top of that the right item is highlighted...killing any thought process or experimentation. (Atleast from the demo). -Aiming is terrible. (And before you say the classic games were "terrible at that", I'd argue they had good shooting mechanics...for one thing it had auto-aim that compliments the fixed cameras. -The puzzles (in the demo) were just a no brainer...just over complicated with stupid requirements like "Get the VHS tape before you can trigger the laugh while staring at the light in the attic" or having to restart the demo if you shoot/hit the painting out of order instead of allowing you to solve the puzzles in a non-linear succession like the classic. -The Silent Hill meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe simply doesn't feel like Resident Evil and goes against Capcom's claims of "Taking the series back to it's roots". All in all, I am still on the fence on this game.

I've watched all the trailers and I've loved everything about it so far I can say that I'm hyped for this game I can't wait to go visit the bakers and he can welcome me to the family. I don't care if this RE looks like PT or outlast or a combination of both I'm not in the habit of comparing every game I play.
This game is going to be good. Just don't think of it as a Resident Evil game though. They are just using the Resident Evil title for exposure. This looks and feels a lot like Outlast. I swear, I played Outlast and wasn't impressed at all. I felt that it failed to build tension adequately that should've made me feel truly afraid of the monsters rather than "I'm bored, maybe I can sprint past the enemies and get to the next area. If they catch me and I die, oh well, I'll just resart at my last checkpoint." But this? Oh my...RE7 is another Call of Duty game but with shadow monsters and some crazy man that's as durable as a tank. It's worse than Outlast when it comes to its scare factor, and that's coming from a guy who didn't even think Outlast was that scary. P.T. though, holy shit, now that was fucking scary. That game made me feel terrified of Lisa thinking about when she'd snapped your neck again. Sometimes I'd even just run straight to the door to reset the room thinking that she would attack me soon. UndertakerU2ber Objectively, Resident Evil was never really scary compared to the Silent Hill series. RE was more puzzle zombie shooter while SH was trippy town demon world shenanigans. I really do hope this 1st person thing comes out good for Capcom. I believe that although RE7 demo was "highly inspired" by PT, it was there to showcase how the game functions, not how it would be entirely story wise or enemy wise (seeing that we got the weird Mold monster in the new update). And yeah, Silent Hills would've been a phenomenal game, but now we pray for Death Stranding.
yea if you felt like that there insane difficulty for a reason i highly advise you go back and play the way it was intended to be played.... you lose you restart from the begging hows that for a penalty I have tryed it truly gets the blood flowing if you make it 4 hours I ihave beat it on nightmare and would love to attempt the insane mode again

nathan basford yeah an insane asylum with crazy people in it. So original. It was farthest thing FROM original. The camera was stolen from condemned as well as 90% of its style. The whole concept was ripped from the suffering, and it ripped almost all of its gameplay elements straight from the whole amnesia crowd. Only it didn't do anything as well as those three titles. RE7 actually looks pretty awesome.
People that are saying this doesn't look like Resident Evil haven't played Resident Evil 1 or 2. To me it looks exactly like a modern FPS style Resident Evil 1. It's set in a mansion, has limited ammo gun play but mostly revolves around running and avoiding, herbs, etc. Maybe it doesn't have the quintessential zombie walkers, but the whole Baker family sure do act like zombies, just with a little more character.
I still need more info on this game. I am intrigued but also hesitant. I really think a game wherein I am pursued all game will get rather boring. Especially with how long it takes him to swing that pick axe or shovel. I am literally just waiting for that remaster of Resident Evil 2.

They should literally go back to their roots and use fixed position cameras with very limited control. People loved the difficulty of Resident evil with these 2 things. If put all the work in making sure that every single HD camera shot was a gloomy masterpiece with the technology we have today, they could literally make the best resident evil game of all time. Instead they keep trying to mix it up or just remake the old ones we have played a thousand times. And the HD remakes could be 20 times better than they have been... I will still have to play this game though even if it is not really resident evil, it looks like it could easily stand on its own.

Resident Evil fans are the most eternally dissatisfied people I have ever encountered. No sequel is ever going to be just like (insert butt-hurt fan's favorite iteration of the series here), and in my opinion it's how each title differs that makes this series so special. It's a consistent theme with a wide variety of gameplay types, so you can go back to the series regardless of what you're in the mood to play. This game in particular looks very special, and I can't wait to see where Capcom goes with it.
in my opinion honestly im excited to see this game in action. its a new way to play RE especially since theres going to be VR compatibility. and quite frankly its returning RE to its survival horror roots better than ever I think Capcom is doing an awesome job with this one
This game is gonna be interesting. Their plan ? Simple, take the roots of early resident evils and explore it in new ways. You can see how much detail they put into the bakers house, at last in the demo, just as the mansion in resident evil 1. I hope they revive the franchise.

This game is going to be good. Just don't think of it as a Resident Evil game though. They are just using the Resident Evil title for exposure. This looks and feels a lot like Outlast. To everyone complaining, give the game a chance, and I'm sure they will be coming out with a Resident Evil that goes back to what made the franchise. Just be patient

Its better that way.If they wanted to make RE7 make the a new character , with prev franchiese as supporting character, Then put the plot like the Last RE:6 about Jake Muller except Horror and Survival genre with less action. No fully remove action, making the game literally remove all of the RE 4-6 (gameplay) and RE 1-3 (fixed camera), the only thing i see the same with previous franchiese is zombies,virus,puzzles. I swear, I played Outlast and wasn't impressed at all. I felt that it failed to build tension adequately that should've made me feel truly afraid of the monsters rather than "I'm bored, maybe I can sprint past the enemies and get to the next area. If they catch me and I die, oh well, I'll just resart at my last checkpoint." But this? Oh my...RE7 is another Call of Duty game but with shadow monsters and some crazy man that's as durable as a tank. It's worse than Outlast when it comes to its scare factor, and that's coming from a guy who didn't even think Outlast was that scary. P.T. though, holy shit, now that was fucking scary. That game made me feel terrified of Lisa thinking about when she'd snapped your neck again. Sometimes I'd even just run straight to the door to reset the room thinking that she would attack me soon. What a masterpiece...

I mean, you're right when you say that the game is still in development and things could be different upon release when we actually play the game. UndertakerU2ber Objectively, Resident Evil was never really scary compared to the Silent Hill series. RE was more puzzle zombie shooter while SH was trippy town demon world shenanigans. I really do hope this 1st person thing comes out good for Capcom. I believe that although RE7 demo was "highly inspired" by PT, it was there to showcase how the game functions, not how it would be entirely story wise or enemy wise (seeing that we got the weird Mold monster in the new update). And yeah, Silent Hills would've been a phenomenal game, but now we pray for Death Stranding.
yea if you felt like that there insane difficulty for a reason i highly advise you go back and play the way it was intended to be played.... you lose you restart from the begging hows that for a penalty I have tryed it truly gets the blood flowing if you make it 4 hours I ihave beat it on nightmare and would love to attempt the insane mode again

Trust me dude. Guns and gunplay in general is gonna be cartoonish, weak, unrealistic. In other words they are going to fucking suck here in this game. CrashBurnman95 not every resident evil is rotated around zombies. most of the recent games aren't even viruses, they've been parasites. los plagas was a mind control parasite in resident evil 4 and was seen throughout the rest of that generation, though Ouroboros became the next parasite that they focused on. so really there hasn't been any zombies since like code Veronica... main storyline that shit stopped at resident evil 3.. so since this is the start of a new RE generation we'll just have to wait and see what new thing is taking over.

It was farthest thing FROM original. The camera was stolen from condemned as well as 90% of its style. The whole concept was ripped from the suffering, and it ripped almost all of its gameplay elements straight from the whole amnesia crowd.

People that are saying this doesn't look like Resident Evil haven't played Resident Evil 1 or 2. To me it looks exactly like a modern FPS style Resident Evil 1. It's set in a mansion, has limited ammo gun play but mostly revolves around running and avoiding, herbs, etc. Maybe it doesn't have the quintessential zombie walkers, but the whole Baker family sure do act like zombies, just with a little more character.
I still need more info on this game. I am intrigued but also hesitant. I really think a game wherein I am pursued all game will get rather boring. Especially with how long it takes him to swing that pick axe or shovel. I am literally just waiting for that remaster of Resident Evil 2.
I don't really like how no matter the situation, your character is always quiet and only jogs very slowly to get away. His demeanor never changes. No adrenaline rush, heavy breathing or anything.

I agree with how you feel, how ever, the series lost a part of itself when Shinji Mikami parted ways with CapCom did it not? I have to applaud them for taking the game in a completely new direction, RE 4 did it and it was phenomenal. Just give this game a chance even if you just watch someone stream it.

I don't hate on RE7 but after playing the demo...I wasn't too impressed and I can elaborate on why if you want.
Miyakolover RE 4 was the reason many people got a GAMECUBE, Nintendo's sales skyrocketed because it was a GAMECUBE exclusive. RE 4 was so good, they had no choice but to multi platform the title. RE 5 hurt the series and RE 6 killed it.
Game Life I know that, and I love RE4 for what it is...but it's the one that started the whole process of killing Resident Evil as a survival horror.

They should literally go back to their roots and use fixed position cameras with very limited control. People loved the difficulty of Resident evil with these 2 things. If put all the work in making sure that every single HD camera shot was a gloomy masterpiece with the technology we have today, they could literally make the best resident evil game of all time. Instead they keep trying to mix it up or just remake the old ones we have played a thousand times. And the HD remakes could be 20 times better than they have been...
I will still have to play this game though even if it is not really resident evil, it looks like it could easily stand on its own.

Resident Evil fans are the most eternally dissatisfied people I have ever encountered. No sequel is ever going to be just like (insert butt-hurt fan's favorite iteration of the series here), and in my opinion it's how each title differs that makes this series so special. It's a consistent theme with a wide variety of gameplay types, so you can go back to the series regardless of what you're in the mood to play. This game in particular looks very special, and I can't wait to see where Capcom goes with it.

I don't get it? The atmosphere and movement makes you feel vulnerable and weak but you can also tank 3 full fledged axe chops to the face? I know I'm nitpicky for a resident evil game but to me it just doesn't collide well. It seems they are trying to approach a more realistic look of things but I don't understand how you can be completely fine after a pickaxe was just thrusted into your gut at 80mph.
