Thank you PTPop for helping me get out of my call center hell. I was working as a CSR for the largest power company in South Carolina. November 1 I went back full time with the company I was working at part time before I went to the call center in March. I am now working again as a lead cook for the largest catering company in my state and about to take on a sous chef apprenticeship and get a culinary certification from our state’s flagship university. I am doing what I love and loving what I do. Peace to you!
I once knew a guy that paid med school working in a callcenter and selling clothing. Not sure if he made it but man, I admired him. he used to work one year and study another one, His brother also used the callcenter as a stepping stone and now I think he is managing a restaurant. Stories that makes me laugh sometimes but it's true. Good luck everyone
Currently stuck in the call center twilight vicious cycle... Iv taken up doing two free martial art classes and I realized how much I hate this job and how much stresses me out... The rush I got fom the classes was concrete proof that I need to RUN from this horrendous so called job
Excellent job on this video. Super positive. I like the idea of "dreaming" and writing down (or typing) career goal action plans in-between phone calls. I will do this today whilst taking calls for Target.com (holiday temp job). It would be great if at some point in the future you could create a video which describes alternative work to call center jobs. I live in the Phoenix East Valley area and a plethora of call center jobs exist. Unfortunately, there aren't as many non call center jobs. For those of us who have worked in call centers for years now (pigeonholed), I think it's easy to lose sight of what other type of non call center jobs are available. A few non call center jobs I can think of are: Admin Assistant/Clerk, Caregiver, General Laborer, Waiter/Waitress, Corrections/Police Officer, any type of processing job (i.e., Loan Processor), Uber/Lyft Driver, Doordash, Shipt shopper, Sub Teacher, Pearson Scorer, and several others. When call center jobs are in ample supply it becomes too easy to apply for more call center work. I know one way to avoid call center work all together. I have viewed numerous LinkedIn profiles over the years and if one can get hired right out of college or better yet while still in college as a Corporate Recruiter this looks great on the resume. Often, Corporate Recruiters move on to become Managers. For the rest of us in call centers besides lucrative vocational training, I am not sure how "climb" the career later when working in call centers as the competition is fierce and opportunities are limited. I think the negative videos on call center work are quite beneficial because they help current call center workers relate to the intense chronic stressors of call center work and hopefully help a few others steer clear of call center work all together. They also help to provide a sense of "togetherness" within the call center worker community which allow us to share our frustrations about call center work in general. Several other benefits of the "negative" videos as well. Essentially, a balance of the positive and negative is probably ideal.

If you are interested in what I can tell about my experience (call center in general, plus the mere fact of being on a different continent), I would be delighted to share some thoughts with you.
Starting next week I'm going to be seeking out TRADES that pay well enough to live So my days off will be focused on investing in my self to get out of the vipers pit. I'm tired of the abuse and I'm always afraid I'm going to get a call I lost my job or they call me in the office. Its fucked up...call centers need to be BANNED
