Hi Elena, I am a travel agent from Germany and this is by far the best video I have found for an island comparison/summary! I haven't been to Thailand yet and this video helps me so much to support my clients in their decision where to go. Thank you for your great work!

Thank you so much for this fantastic video. I am really grateful to you for pulling it together. You mentioned at the end that you had a list of acomodation and places you stayed. It would be amazing if you were willing to share this with me. I am going to Thailand with my wife and two teenage children in December for a couple of months and am trying to choose which island to stay on and where. I have got lots of great tips from your video and any more would be lovely. We are wanting to stay somewhere with a community of other semi long term visitors and not just people on short holidays. We don't need big parties though we used to party a lot !. Somewhere with good snorkeling , interesting walks in the forest ,not too crowded but with a few small restuarants and cafes and shops would be ideal. Thanks again, and great video Robin
Hi Robin, Thanks for your kind comments! I really appreciate it.❤ Please email me (address in the video description) so I can attach a PDF with the places we stayed at and recommendations for your trip. Islands with a community of semi-long-term visitors: Koh Lanta and Koh Phangan could be good options for you. Koh Lanta has fewer visitors in general. You can rent a little house on the beach and have a fantastic time. Koh Phangan is a bit more crowded, but you can still find beaches on the island that are more quiet. Koh Mak could be an option too, although the community of expats there is much smaller.
I would add that you can book an amazing snorkeling tour from Bang Bao pier at Koh Chang. You will go to Ko Rong and Ko Yak Lek that are one of the best snorkeling spots in Thailand.
Absolutely! ❤ Koh Rang/Koh Yak (near Koh Chang); Koh Ha (near Koh Lanta) + Koh Nang Yuan (near Koh Tao) are some of my favorite snorkeling spots in Thailand. 😍 Thanks for the kind comment!
Awesome I have been to Thailand 4 times and been to Phuket, Railey, Koh Yao Noi, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe, Koh Kradan, Koh Muk, Koh Ngai, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Krabi and Koh Lanta. I would like to visit Koh Kood and Koh Chang.
Very interesting video. I have been to Chang, Samui, Phucket, Krabi, Railay, and Lanta. I really was looking forward to spending a week or so on Koh Lipe, but I don't know after this video. However, the thing that makes me want to try is I really liked Koh Samui and did not like Koh Lanta at all, I thought it was boring. You literally felt the opposite. I like the quiet uninhabited places, but only for like a day or two. I prefer places with more going on.
Thanks for your comment. ☺ We've met fantastic people on Koh Lanta. Our friends made us feel like family. We ended up living there for 5 months and got to know the island and its community; this is why I am attached to this place. But overall, I agree with you. Compared to other places, Koh Lanta is a bit more boring. To me, Koh Lipe feels claustrophobic and unkept. It's a pity because this tiny island probably used to be a real paradise. The water around the island is gorgeous. It's a bit of an investment to get there, and the hotels are not cheap. (I have a detailed video on just Koh Lipe on my channel.) An alternative to Koh Lipe is Koh Kradan. It has the same amazing water and is easier to reach. Let me know if you make it to Koh Lipe. I would love to hear your opinion. ☀🙂
Thanks for summary information. I totally agree with your viewpoints in andaman sea. But I did not visit the gulf of thai. Your streneous video will help next our visit. I give you thumb up. Most of all, I wish your happy and healthy travel in future.
Hello Eli! Amazing video! We would love to visit Koh Chang / Koh Mak / Koh Kood and I would like to ask if there is any good snorkeling from the beach on these islands or if you have to take a tourist boat tour to Koh Rang? Thanks!
Hi Kristijonas! Thanks for the kind comment! ❤ During our research, we couldn’t find any recommended beach snorkeling spots on these three islands. Instead, we booked snorkeling trips from Koh Chang and Koh Kood. The snorkeling trips took us to Koh Rang and Koh Wai, among other places. Enjoy your trip!!
I've been to almost all the places in this video and agree with everything you've said (and your favourites are the same as mine!) Thanks for a great video - I'm ready to go back!
Hi Ben, I did not use Malaria pills in Thailand. You're good in the main tourist places. If you do go to some very remote jungle areas, you can always ask the Thai Travel Clinic for advice on pills and vaccines: www.thaitravelclinic.com/
Thank you for the very well made and informative video. I just was in Thailand in Railay, Koh Tao and Koh Samui. I share your opinion of Koh Samui. Too touristy, much more than i expected. You made it easier to choose already for my next trip to Thailand. Greetings from Belgium.
Thank you for your very informative, interesting and well put together video, it is just what I needed for the trip I am planning, I didn't think I would be so lucky to find a video that would give me such detailed information....I appreciate and thank you as you have really helped me see and choose where to go on my bucket list trip. Thank you for sharing information about especially for remote work islands. I am trying to me a trip plan to get 2 weeks off from work and 10 days remote work so entire trip might be 1 month , how would you make this trip with adding 3 days visiting Siem Reap cambodia ? I would be greatfull for your suggestion. I have been in Thialand 2 time and the last one was last year for 4 days in Koh Samui , 4 days Koh Phangan and 8 days in Phuket. So Phuket and Koh Phangan is my favorite so far. I am not able to decided to stay in Koh Phangan or Phi phi don for my remote work days ..
Hi! Thanks for your kind comment and for watching this video. Phi Phi Island is too wonderful to be able to focus on work. 😆 You will be OK anywhere in Thailand - the internet is strong on all the islands you mention. Check on flights or a bus to Cambodia to add this to your trip. You will be closer to Cambodia if you stay on Koh Chang, Koh Mak or Koh Kood. Have a fantastic trip!

I loved Koh Phangan the most of all the island Ive been to. Could easily move there (i wish!) Koh Tao, Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta are also favourites. But I loved them all (except Railay, over rated and packed with tourists). I love Thailand so much! 🌴🦎
I have recently bought a couple of hotel rooms in Jombien. Now I want to explore Thailand as a whole. I would really appreciate the list that you mentioned of the best places to stay. I will travel to Thailand from Australia later this year for eight weeks and then keep on returning until I retire and relocate on a permanent basis. Overall, the mosquitoes are about the same. I am allergic, so I pay attention. Our hotel on Koh Ngai had the most mosquitoes flying around. We had a net over the bed, and that was really needed. The main beach on Koh Mook has tons of sandflies. Sandflies can be worse than mosquitoes. Their bites stay on my skin for weeks. Koh Kradan was the island with the least mosquitoes/sandflies. There's a nice sea breeze at night and not too many mosquitoes. If you venture into the jungle behind the hotels (ex: go to Sunset Point), then you will need repellent. I did not see many mosquitoes on Koh Libong. This is the only place I got food poisoning (out of 3 years living in Thailand). Koh Libong is very interesting as not many people go there, but you need to be careful where you eat. Overall, take a repellent with you to avoid getting bitten. I use a completely natural repellent, and it seems to work.
@@TravelRoads Thank you for the info! Makes sense about the mosquitos on Ngai because of the standing water by the resort. Did Charlie beach have a lot of sand flies as well? Sorry to hear about the food poisoning in Koh Libong. Can i ask if it was at a restaurant or resort? I would like to avoid that spot. If you don't want to mention the name on here, I can email you.
@@Farmer-l8f You're right about Koh Ngai. Lots of standing water next to the resort. Charlie Beach was ok. We went there only once, right before a storm, and there was a breeze that could've prevented the sandflies. I'm not 100% sure about the ordeal on Koh Libong, but I blame it on a street food stall. It might be best to stick to reputable restaurants and hotels for your meals. I'm not sure if the hygiene is very high on the island.
koh lipe 12 years ago, didnt have one real road, only sandy hikes to walk around on. and there was one hotel that they started to build. almost no longtailboats by the beach, and it was a real paradise. now it has been to much exploited sadly. Koh Kradan was and still seem to be a real paradise. but with a few never acomondations it seems. was only 1 before. nice video, i would love to back anyday.
Thanks for sharing your memories, Magnus! I cannot imagine Koh Lipe with only one hotel. A real undiscovered paradise. You're lucky to have experienced the island before the crowds of tourists. Koh Kradan is still a great place. Tons of people visit during the day, but at night, the island is very peaceful. Thanks for watching this video.
As a budget Solo traveler which islands in Thailand are the best for privacy, making friends & suitable to stay for couple of days each, Pls help, I need tips..
Hello Gannu, for a two-day stay, you can try Koh PhiPhi, Koh Mak, Koh Chang, Koh Lanta, Koh Tao, Koh Kradan, or Kho Phangan (it's a bigger island, and two days here is not enough, but you can easily make plenty of friends on this island). Enjoy your holiday!
Hi M. Goldie, if you email me, I can email you all the information back. I cannot attach a pdf file in this chat. My email is in the description of each video. On Koh Chang we stayed at a friend's place on Bailan bay. I would not recommend this hotel for your trip. On Koh Mak, we rented two houses from Good Time Sports Resort. One of the houses was on the beach. The other house was in a beautiful garden. We also rented a scooter from the hotel. Good Time Sports is a family resort and Yodying, the owner, is a great guy. Have a fantastic holiday in Thailand! ❤
@@TravelRoads Thanks Elana ☺️ I emailed, i actually got it wrong (so many islands!) I ment koh Kood. Any suggestions for 2 or 3 quiet guest close to a beach and some eateries?
@@Snuffkin Hi Marielize, I just emailed you some information. Look for a place on Ban Ao Jak or Bang Bao Beach. Most beaches on Koh Kut are amazing, so no matter where you stay you cannot go wrong. You just need to figure out your transportation so you can see the entire island. It's worth going around Koh Kut. There's also the Khlong Chao waterfall you can swim in. It's a super fun experience.
There are many websites that track the local weather in real time; please search online for accurate 2024 predictions for June and July. I'd look into Koh Phangan/Koh Samui/Koh Tao despite the weekly rainfalls.
Tough question to answer without knowing more about you, your lifestyle, and preferences. ☺ They have great hospitals in Phuket, but it's really not my favorite island. Do you need a fast/immediate connection to Bangkok (Phuket, Koh Samui) or are you ok traveling a bit further (Koh Phangan, Koh Lanta)? What type of community you would enjoy living in? For myself, I would pick Koh Phangan or Koh Lanta.
@@TravelRoads I would love Koh Phi Phi. I am retiring with my wife. Need things to do. We are very active. Cycling hiking swimming. Want some live music. One good hospital
@@darkmattersproject2951 Koh Phi Phi is very small. I would not recommend this island if you are looking for cycling, hiking, swimming, etc.. Try Koh Phangan or Koh Samui. ☺
Sorry if I am wrong. ☺My impression comes from the people we've met and stayed with. Like the rest of the Muslim islands in Thailand, Koh Kood doesn't have big supermarkets, bars, or clubs. Are you sure Koh Kood is not a majority Muslim? 🤔
@@TravelRoads ok, learn it, you have a strong russian accent haha, which could be two options: 1 - you are russian, but dont want to confess it, and 2) pretend you are not Russian ))

I'm not 100% sure about the ordeal on Koh Libong, but I blame it on a street food stall. It might be best to stick to reputable restaurants and hotels for your meals. I'm not sure if the hygiene is very high on the island.
Im interested to know of the real estate in Koh Lanta
Hi Susan, send me an email. ☀🌴
May I ask you the name of the villa in Koh Yao Noi? :)
Hello Nicola, the villa of Koh Yao Noi is this one: www.luxuryrentalthai.com/bungalow-en (Bungalow Cha Cha).
koh lipe 12 years ago, didnt have one real road, only sandy hikes to walk around on. and there was one hotel that they started to build. almost no longtailboats by the beach, and it was a real paradise. now it has been to much exploited sadly.

As a budget Solo traveler which islands in Thailand are the best for privacy, making friends & suitable to stay for couple of days each,
Pls help, I need tips..
Hi Elana, can you please provide me with that accommodation list? I'm mainly after ho chang and ko mak places. This is for my daughter and me.
@@TravelRoads Thanks Elana ☺️
I emailed, i actually got it wrong (so many islands!) I ment koh Kood.
Um sonho de todo mundo ir à Tailândia ❤❤

Which island are best to visit in June and July
There are many websites that track the local weather in real time; please search online for accurate 2024 predictions for June and July.
I'd look into Koh Phangan/Koh Samui/Koh Tao despite the weekly rainfalls.
hello, does your friend have a website, with different real estate for sale, we are looking for a property to buy in koh lanta
Hello, just send me an email, and I will forward you some information.

Which island is best for permanent living? Medical etc etc. Cost of living
Tough question to answer without knowing more about you, your lifestyle, and preferences. ☺
They have great hospitals in Phuket, but it's really not my favorite island.
@@TravelRoads Thank you
Humm
basically the best island is on the east near cambodia
yes :)
Great video. But sorry, Koh Kood is not a muslim island.
Sorry if I am wrong. ☺My impression comes from the people we've met and stayed with. Like the rest of the Muslim islands in Thailand, Koh Kood doesn't have big supermarkets, bars, or clubs. Are you sure Koh Kood is not a majority Muslim? 🤔
@@TravelRoads Yes, i am. Koh Kood is located in eastern Thailand, near Cambodia. It is a buddhist island. You will not find a mosque there.

почему не по-русски? теперь понимаю, когда говорят из деревни можно уехать )))
Hi Albert, sorry I don't speak Russian :)
@@TravelRoads ok, learn it, you have a strong russian accent haha, which could be two options: 1 - you are russian, but dont want to confess it, and 2) pretend you are not Russian ))
