Years ago i sat in w a jazzband in S London .. Tony Archer was on Bass , he was on the Roarin, record on Jazzland . He told me he thought Graham was a Genius .
I saw GBO 66/67 a few times they were the best small club band. Fleetwood Mac /Chicken Shack etc were good but the atmosphere GBO created was quite frankly astonishing. Fame eluded him despite him mentoring Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. He used to drink about 8 bottles of J.Collis Browne Cough Mixture….. RIP the man….
I had some correspondence with your Aunt and with Pete Brown in the early '90s when I was still running a tiny one-man Graham Bond fan club. Unfortunately, my worsening state of chronic exhaustion forced me to give up any correspondence with ANYONE and also, the running of the fan club. I sooo wanted to someday get back with Dianne -- but I found it quite impossible. Although, at my age, it shouldn't be long before I'll be able to meet her in person, for the first time!
Wow Phil, I think I remember her taking about a fan club. She was a really special human being. I miss her more than words can say. I hope you do meet her - but not too soon! Namaste, tim
@@maudclaud6132 Hi Again, Just quickly, back in the '90s I received a call out of the blue from a man who claimed to be Graham's son. It was a very brief conversation but his voice SOUNDED like that of man who could have possibly been in the age group of a son of Bond. I never heard from him again. At that time, he said that he knew very little about Bond's music or of his career. By the way, one of my fondest memories of those days is that I had the good fortune of interviewing Dick Heckstall-Smith -- by proxy -- for the fan club quarterly newsletter! In a different edition, Dianne made an entry as well !!
I have a Graham Bond question. It's not necessarily related to the above video, but I figured you might be of some help. There is a 1971 single Water Water / Twelve Gates To The City. It is available on CD as bonus to Holy Magick. But it is in stereo and the songs are 3:46 and 3:38, respectively. This matches the timings on the German single. However, there is a bootleg CD of Graham Bond non-album tracks where these songs are in mono and run 5:26 and 4:23, respectively. I'm assuming it's a rip of the UK single but the UK single doesn't have timings listed on the label. (There is also a CD of Mighty Grahame Bond with the single of Water Water, again in mono and 5:26 but with just the first drum bit cut off!!) Just looking for confirmation of my theory. Thanks for treating the above session with the TLC is deserves! Some stuff on that BBC set immediately sounded "off." Glad someone is treating it right.
Hello, on the 2006 CD reissue, they used the German 7" edits which cut out about a minute or so of each song. The only way to hear the full versions is to purchase the UK single. Great catch!
