  • The Sound you hear is in the recording. Sorry about that!
Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey, both 21, were convicted of multiple counts of aggravated rape, aggravated sexual battery and other charges after a 12-day jury trial in January 2015. A new trial was granted after it was revealed the jury foreman has been a victim of statutory rape. According to evidence, including graphic images and videos shown during trial, Batey sexually assaulted an unconscious student in a dorm in June 2013 while Vandenburg encouraged and filmed the act.

This whole situation is so sad. when people say that Cory Batey is a good person. HE IS NOT. He lied throughout his entire testimony. He said he did not look at the pictures on his phone before deleting them but later talks about the pictures. Then he says he remembered nothing but yet he was able to meet up with his friends later on to tell them he "got it in". Then after they were finished he was able to eat his food, call his old girlfriend, take a shower and go down to the lobby and let her in. if he was drunk out of his mind how could he have done this? Also he refers to her throughout as a bitch. While sober. 15 years is not long enough for this man. What is so awful is they are only trying to reduce their time in prison, never once thinking about what is right. Lying on the witness stand under oath still evading the truth pretending like it was the alcohol or someone else's fault for your own actions. None of these football players did anything right. Not a damn one of them. How could this young lady be seen by so many people and not one if them did anything to helpbher. Not even check on her afterwards to make sure she was alive. Wonder if they had accidentally killed her. I am disgusted by this entire event.

He got a 20 year vehicular manslaughter charge for his death and the injury of front seat passenger. So yeah, being drunk and committing a crime is not a defense. Not a good one anyway. 😔

BUT....dear defense attorney, I hope you're reading, were I on the jury your attitude would absolutely play against your client, no matter how wrong it is. Lose the toooood and do your job. I'm listening only and I imagine you doing the whole 'suck the teeth, z formation snaps, neck roll..."girl please"' every time you speak. Practice in the mirror, darlin...you need it! He wasn't as aggressive as he could have been, but he was good enough. He got the information out of him that he wanted and was helpful to his side. The problem with asking question after question about what he did to her just gives him another opportunity to say over and over again, "I don't remember." It provides him with an opportunity to deny culpability and another attempt to possibly invoke sympathy with the jury. Virtually nothing beneficial could have come out of that line of questioning. That being said... I was really looking forward to assistant district attorney Jan Norman eviscerating him on cross but I guess they had other plans for dividing up the work load.

I go to church because I know my way isn't working. It's not a sanctuary for people who have it together but it's a haven of rest for people who don't have it together so maybe that's why CB goes. I don't know his heart

Mr. Corey Bailey sure is a handsome man, however I do see traits of a future cop traits maybe leading into a detective officer and I do see arrogants in him some things I don't like not good it is caution to look beyond looks one thing here is his strong eyes it's in the eyes and between them along demeanor mannerism check it always. The lady defendants' attorney is good at her job . And after finding out all that batey did and said he ain't that handsome no more ugly doings make you look ugly I pray for every girl and woman

If there was any doubt that this defendant was guilty
It was when he testified why wouldn't you want to know what you did if you don't remember
You would look at every video and picture on your phone you wouldn't just deleted them just shows you how guilty you are

If it were me, I'd probably take my phone to my coach or another adult I trusted, and beg for guidance. I wouldn't simply delete the photos and pretend nothing happened. But I have a conscience. 😊

For being ignorant you pay a high cost. If he taped this assault. That was the most ignorant thing. He could have done for that. Yes he should pay for it. To think you can assault someone. Then tape it Ike it's a joke. To show others is just beyond ignorant. Ppls stupidity today has no limits.

I agree with chris bruner, brock turner got off with 6 months because he is white, cory batey got 15 years because he is black. Although slavery, of the physical kind, has all but been abolished, the remnants of slavery are alive and well with institutional and judicial bias. Whites will never admit the brock turner was just as nefarious and displayed a blatant disregard for humanity. As Batey did. Amazing, the bigotry of white america behind computer screens. But is no shock at all. They love Blacks when its beneficial, spit on them when convenient. Not all though, just Trump supporters.
