Skylar Nemetz Trial Defendant Testifies Part 1 02/11/16

- Skylar Nemetz is charged with the Oct. 16, 2014 shooting death of former McKinleyville High School cheerleader Danielle Nemetz, whom he married and moved with to Lakewood, Washington, when he joined the Army and was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in 2013.
A professional soldier who doesn't know how to clear a gun before messing with it? A professional soldier who puts his finger on the trigger when not using it? A professional soldier who pulls that trigger with the barrel of a gun pointed in an unsafe direction? A professional soldier who happens to be standing behind a person with a loaded gun pointed at the back of their head and pulls the trigger? Guilty.
I understand what your saying. There is so many friendly fire deaths that is not covered by the media and are done by soldiers that are overseas. They are done more then you can imagine and this is coming from someone that been in the Army for over 17 years straight out of HighSchool and been deployed 3 times. In this case everything is raising red flags and no type of real tears. But professionals no amount of any years in service make big mistakes.
I agree with you. After hearing her text to her friend, I hear a narcissist! Accident or not, he is suppose to be a professional soldier and should know how to handle that weapon. Friendly fire on the field is one thing but in the home is different! I don't believe his wife took that weapon from the bedroom and brought it to the guest bedroom just to turn around to tell him to put it away. His story does not make sense. Why would he take the safety off? Makes no sense. Told the attorney she walked him through the apartment to show how clean it was, but tells prosecutor he don't remember. His wife pours a drink and he pours a shot, but after shooting his wife, he was more concerned about his career by pouring alcohol out instead of what he testify how he was so distraught, make it make sense.I do believe he loved her, but I also believe he was mentally abusive, physical or not, it probably would turn into physical. Guilty!
At 21 years of age I don't think there is professional on anything...
Exactly.. I'd really think he would know how to handle a gun without shooting his wife dead. Wtf is going on here. Also when one cries with such a tone in their voice, as in whimpering.. isn't it naturally accompanied by a tear or two?He sniffles his nose but does not wipe one tear? This is pretty insane to see..
This dude looks like Amber Heard with a buzz cut in a suit! He faked crying directed all of his comments directly to the jury. Repeatedly restating the lawyer’s questions, asking him to repeat or restructure his questions, repeatedly saying to the best of my memory, I do not recall and on and on! This kid is guilty as sin. He thinks he is the smartest person in the room. His mistake.
He seems so smug...laid back on the stand. Not nervous, a complete sociopath.
Duping Delight with this one.
'Smug' is exactly the word I was going to use!
I believed him during the interrogation. I'm seeing the same smug now. Wow. I wonder why he did it.

Perfect example of a guy who had everything anyone could want, a career, a beautiful wife, a bright future….and yet he’s so narcissistic that he throws it all away in a moment of jealousy and poorly displaced anger. He didn’t get enough punishment in my opinion. He will be 34 years old when released.
He is a mean drunk yet not 21.
@@spicyirwin5835 that too, but also from watching him in the stand as well as media interviews since the incident, he is currently still a narcissist, just currently a sober one. When he’s released at 34 years old, let’s see if he has learned anything.

Got to be the most unjustified arrogance on the stand. Where is the shame, guilt and extreme sadness. All we see is a crappy egotistical attempt to explain a mistake away as if it’s a video game.
Fake crying… worst acting I’ve ever seen.
First thing I thought of too
I personally dont know anything about this case but this guys before looks completely fake on this witness stand!!! Does anyone know the outcome of this trial?
@@wilmakruger8738 Just do a search. There's tons of coverage. Here's one excerpt from the day of his sentencing:
'TACOMA, Wash. -- Former soldier Skylar Nemetz has just been given the maximum sentence of 13 1/2 years in the shooting death of his wife, Danielle.
His family is heartbroken; his wife's family says the sentence isn't long enough.'
How revolting that this murderer got only 13 1/2 years for shooting his wife, in cold blood, then trying to cover it up, then telling lies to the neighbors, and the police, and the detectives, and to pretty much anyone who would listen. He's a real POS, in my view. This is after first seeing the video of him while he was locked in back of police car, immediately after; then watching the full police station interrogation by detectives; then trying to watch a portion of this court testimony, and be nauseated by his inauthentic performance here. Let us hope he is NOT granted early parole. Better yet, let us hope he acts up in prison and gets extra time.
Worst acting you've seen? What did think of Amber Heard's testimony? Maybe the bad acting is a tie??
Want to know the conclusive proof of guilt? Emotional crying and whimpering until his attorney finishes each question, the emotion magically drains out in favor of confident, rehearsed responses that he’s been coached to give to the jury in that manner.
It’s like bad directing a bad actor.
That is a way of describing this psycho punks lame attempt at lying 🤥 I don’t know which one is worse him and back of the police car acting or him here on the witness stand acting they’re both pretty bad
As bad as Amber Heard 🙄
God, that was disgusting to watch. The absolute psychotic way he can go from choking up about to say how he shot his wife, then get interrupted by the lawer asking him how he was holding it and answering with a totally straight face, then going straight back to the choking up.
@@78twood "As bad as Amber Heard" --OMG, Goldheart, that is EXACTLY what I was going to say! bobby kelley's description here, of Skylar Nemetz's fake crying, perfectly fit what we all observed in the Depp v. Skylar Nemetz is a whole other level of narcissistic psychopath, though. Jeezus! 😖

Been following this case, hes much more rehearsed than his initial interview and interrogation but is still tainted by the same degree of narcissism. Scary. dude is detached. Big piece of info is that neighbors heard them arguing all the time until the last 3 weeks that he was gone.
"Im having some trouble remembering" means "I cant remember the rehearsed lines my attorney taught me. This dude murdered his wife and claimed it was an accident.
I thought the same exact thing.
He can shoot a rifle but he can’t shoot off one single tear.
The fact he's mentioning that he watched this really weird movie and starts laughing about it to himself, while explaining to the court his wife's death...... He seems so disconnected from reality
19:47 "I dropped the weapon and I went up to my wife on the left side". That's a very specific detail for someone who has a "fuzzy" memory.
Right after it happened he told police he shouldered the weapon, clicked off the safety and pulled the trigger.
He keeps calling Danielle "his wife" instead of by her name. That's odd and it appears to suggest possessiveness.
I didn't hear him say he kicked the magazine under the bed and ran emptied the alcohol down toilet, put dogs on porch - all just after he shot (murdered), his wife. He failed to do what any normal person would do (even if it looks like she is dead - you'd call an ambulance!)
How can they sit there and listen to the text of this woman, and not think that he had anything to do with this? Do the words from the dead victim not matter🤦🏻♀️😤
No one could possibly think he had nothing to do with it !!!!! They were the only ones there !! Wtf
He got first degree manslaughter, so they definitely did think he had something to do with it. But he got off too lightly imo
He truly believes the Military is going TO SAVE HIM from any consequences. He acts like he thinks he's going to get off. He's a bit cocky.
Very cocky! Arrogant and full of himself is the vibe I'm getting
For sure
I can’t believe he’s blaming his wife for the ammo being inside when in his own interrogation he said “she doesn’t know how to get into the safe”
I bet he didn't let her have the code to the safe.
I feel like he's telling himself... come on self I know I can shed a tear.. I can get at least one out..
Hard to cry when you're not really sad or upset. 😔
When the prosec asks defendant to show he cut himself 'many times' with gun- and defense lawyer stands up and says 'we need to do this first outside jury', you know the defense lawyer is scared to death of what his cocky client is going to let come out of his mouth.
To me what shows dudes disingenuous ness was his 'clever' cocky attitude in beginning with his eyebrow lift like " yeah aren't I cute, ain't I just charming the pants off ya" demeanor going suddenly jarringly actually- into his "accident" schpeel. Nobody who has done what he did and truly did it by accident and has remorse - would dare be behaving with cockiness or trying to 'charm' jury. He is one hell of a piece of work.
It is so obvious his mommy spoiled him rotten to the absolute core. His entitlement is just so offensive.
@Cate Ellington , Ditto , couldn't have said it better.
I found his demeanor in the beginning particularly disturbing.. Especially paired with his choice of words like calling himself a slob and he was "dead tired"
Well, the guy asking him questions is trying to lock him up for his life, so his demeanor shows that
You can't tell anything about his parents!
@@littlesmith5005 No you can certainly tell his parents sucked, i mean REAL terrible parents. The parents are basically at fault for creating such a pile of scum and naming it Skylar.

I only have one thing to say……… PUTTING THIS GUY ON THE STAND WAS A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE MISTAKE !
Apparently not in Washington. What can u expect from a state that let a bunch of high school rejects tear up there police stations and riot freely with no consequences. Washington hey grow a pair!

There are tears. If real, who knows.
No, it's not possible.
I'm a veteran from 02-06 and I accidentally ran over someones puppy this summer. I shed plenty of tears because it was an accident and I felt bad.

I am here, 6 years late, because of RWP posting Skylar’s 3 or 4 hour interrogation. I wasn’t planning on watching the entire thing, but I did. As I watched I was convinced that it was unintentional, and even thought the detectives were too harsh at times. Even though Skylar’s recollection of the events of that night changed several times, I thought that was possibly just from the trauma of what had occurred. So, after I finished watching the interrogation I immediately searched to see if there was any trial video and, sure enough, here it is!!! So, I load it up and start watching. After several minutes of Skylar’s testimony, I realize multiple pieces of information that he never mentioned during that 4 hour interrogation, where he changed and added pieces quite often. Then something came up and I had to pause this video, then other things came up and a couple of days went by and I almost forgot about this … until last night when another police interview popped up on my feed. RWP uploaded the interview of Danielle’s new boss!!! So I pull that up and in the description they mention a comment that someone left on the video for Skylar’s interrogation, which they have pinned to the boss’s interview. So, I read that comment … remember the inaccuracies that I picked up on in the first few minutes of this video, then click on the boss’s interview. After I finish the boss’s interview, I notice there is yet another video of her friend Jeremy (I forget his last name) so I watch that as well. And then I come back here … I am only 16 minutes in now, but I had to stop to write this because I thought I was pretty good at “seeing” people for what they are. I honestly felt that he didn’t intentionally murder his wife after watching his interrogation. But my first thought in just seeing the thumbnail for this video was how smug he looked. Then, in just the first few minutes, the way he was talking and the new information he added … I now believe I was too quick to believe that he didn’t intentionally murder his wife. So here I am, 16 minutes in, and armed with even more information from her boss and her friend, I am almost sick to my stomach. I still have to watch the rest, and if I’m wrong yet again then I will be back to admit it, but all I can think right now is … this guy is a monster!!!!
Sorry Sheila, but if you watched that entire 4 hour police interview where he changed his story four times as each lie got exposed. How he tried covering his tracks instead of trying to give aid or call 911, and how he never shed a single tear through the entire interview, showing more emotion for his dog and fear of getting kicked out of the army than for his poor dead wife, then you are absolutely NOT good at (as you put it) “seeing people for who they are”. His smug cocky attitude was obvious from the very beginning of that interview, and only changed when the cops finally called BS.
His demeanor only changed when he realized they weren’t falling for his fake story. That “meek” and seemingly “obedient” demeanor afterward was just another ACT tailored to make himself appear more innocent. If you couldn’t detect all those glaringly OBVIOUS things, then you, my friend, are actually TERRIBLE at “seeing people for who they are”.
@Sheila Jenkins Sometimes my hope that someone is innocent can cloud my impression. I admire the fact that you wanted to hear all the footage you did, knowing that your impression could be wrong. The fact that you continued taking in the evidence, especially knowing that sworn evidence is of higher weight, and that you did change your mind based on the sworn evidence - this all shows that you would be an excellent juror. Thanks for posting. Cheers and all the best to you. It sure sounds like you’ve more than survived a very raw deal. Peace.

Defence is leading the witness.
Why isn’t the prosecution and the judge objecting?!
You don’t object if your opponent is laying fertile ground for cross examination.
During Discovery, the Prosecution knows these questions will be asked and answered. If Defense goes off topic, they most likely would object to leading without prior knowledge of witness testimony.
Why? He’s digging his grave
@@cynthiagalloni3410 I agree to a certain extent. The Defense definitely won over the Jury with how much he loved his wife and Managed to make believers out of them that killing her was not pre matitative, however the sloppiness of the Prosecution and not being able to conclusively prove that Nemetz committed a Murder in the First degree, also showed that he in fact did hold some water towards..ummm that in the end, neither side really knew what the heck he did or why this happened according to him only getting 10 years in which he'll probably serve 8 to 9 and then Supervised for God knows how long with incredible sanctions that he obviously be dishonerably discharged from the Military, never to be able to possess a firearm, and be stuck with that Murder charge again obviously for the the rest of his life. He did it out of anger and jealousy. If any real emotion would be when he talks about killing himself. Selfish idiot. Took her life. I bet he aimed. He knew better being in the service. Weapon Safety is drilled into your being. Weapon on safe, never flag anyone whether loaded or unloaded. This guy cant remember things about her but can remember he was watching GI Jane. Psychopath or sociopath or whatever this maniac is.
Yea his smugness is nauseating. Plus he starts to do that Amber Heard thing where instead of answering the person who asked you the question, he turns to the jury. Now I know that he's trying to convince the jury but it looks so suspicious when you turn to them. And around 17 minutes or maybe a little bit longer he starts the fake crying and he jumps from smug to crying to smoke in a matter of seconds which is not normal
He's a Psychopathic sociopathic maniac. There
I happen to know body language when someone is being deceptive. this guy is full of it.
Wow really how can u tell?
His looking straight at the jury with every answer as to be cocky and look so honest…. His shifting, no tears, his incessant blinking, etc. etc…
I absolutely love the people who can cry without tears. Red face, all sniffy nosed and grieving liars. Hard to believe that they think ppl don't notice. First thing I look for is tears and usually find "crocodiles".
Right on 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My nose always runs along with the tears.
It drives me crazy! I look for tears too but in many cases, none.
I am still unable to cry without tears. He did a fine job of it, however. That is talent!
I saw tears.
@@dsab381 Me too
@@dsab381 where?? Can you time stamp it? Not saying you're wrong I just would like to know.
Pretty terrible job imo !!!!! Sooooo fake !!
@@HedonicMedia This video is too grainy to see it. Search for a higher res version on RUclips. It's right where he's whining about not killing his wife on purpose. A tear clearly wells up, and trickles down his right cheek. I'm not defending what he did, but it was a real tear, that's all I'm saying.
One of my issues with Defendants testimony is the Defense Counsel is "leading" any other trial they are objecting to leading and the judge sustains it. Why can defense lead in this trial???
Because the prosecutor isn’t objecting. If he doesn’t actually have a problem with the way the testimony is going, why object just for the sake of objecting? The same testimony is going to come out and it’ll just take longer if the prosecutor makes the defence go the long route just because he can. There are also sometimes behind the scenes reasons for the leading questions and the fact that they’re going unchallenged. For example, when they’re getting into areas that are a bit dicey because there are things that have been ruled inadmissible and everyone is worried the witness might inadvertently spill something they weren’t supposed to, the lawyers might agree ahead of time to allow the lawyer to ask more leading questions in order to steer away from the danger zones.
Edit: I just got to the part where the prosecutor asks the judge to admit previously inadmissible evidence because the defence “opened the door” to it. That’s why he wasn’t objecting. He didn’t want to mess with the way the testimony was going because he found the things coming out to be beneficial to his case.
I just love this prosecuting attorney - not taking any crap from this murderer.
So he "accidentally" shot her in the back of the head? You have to aim for that
In the back of the squad car he said "I was supposed to protect you, not some other guy". Makes you wonder if it was a jealousy killing.
Hold up! I just watched the interrogation and already at 2:34 his story is different here! He said in the interrogation that he went out on the porch and then his wife BROUGHT him the dogs. Now he’s saying the dogs were already out there. Why even lie about that little detail?
Because it fits the narrative.
I saw the interview with her young boss/peer who said Danielle told him that she had to steam the carpets and vacuum the floors spotless before Skyler gets home. He was a controlling husband, no doubt in my mind. He was also jealous and went to look for evidence of her cheating which she wasn’t. I’m sure he pointed that gun at her and maybe he didn’t mean to pull the trigger but it doesn’t matter, he did.
The attorney is feeding him lines. Those are not questions. As everyone already said, NOT A SINGLE TEAR!!
13years seems insufficient.
Prayers for her family
Why tf did he start laughing about the pizza like that…his act is so cringy 🥴
You always must consider that a weapon is loaded and make sure that the safety is on.
What type of questions is this attorney asking?? Where did the dog pee?? Really???!!!
I know right ? They ask the most irrelevant questions sometimes.
Right, and like what was that supposed to prove? Because all it told me was his dog doesn’t see him as the leader of its pack.
He’s incredibly smug, confident, and just overall relaxed, for someone on trial for murdering his wife!!
Maybe he’s already come to terms and doesn’t care…
No! He did not shed one tear after the act when being questioned by police. THAT is NOT love!!
My dad and brother are Marines. That being said , I was taught since the age of four not to point a _toy_ _gun_ or a bb gun or any type of gun at anyone or anything unless I wanted to hurt or kill someone .
I take weapons very serious .
If Skylar would not pretend crying so much , he'd be a little more believable.
darn it. i wish this whole trial was streamed. its good.
I haven’t seen it yet but there’s a second one .. or are you saying that you watched that too? And there’s no end? Hope not
This is scary....that poor young girl.🙏♥️
Acting in front of the patrol car camera is ridiculous. As soon as they told him there was a camera going he started talking to himself
He couldve been drunk.
what is this in reference to? sorry I'm a little lost.
@@Jaebird82 I’m assuming the video of him being arrested and in the back of the patrol car….‘real world police’ has it on their channel and interrogation videos of him and others from the case as well
My mistake he did get convicted of shooting his wife, but only a sentence of 13 years. Not nearly enough. I think a life for a life is more then fair. This was no accident. The same way he held that gun away from the jury for their safety is the same way he should have held it away from his wife’s head.🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
💯% it just shows his arrogance and not everyone believes only the innocent take the stand. This dude is trouble at 22 i can just imagine what he will be like after 13 years of prison.
It’s called mommy’s money
@@sundragon1976 you got that Right💯😒
This guy is not even remotely credible. The way he goes in and out of emotions is sickening. Pay close attention to the very beginning and expression on his face, it resembles sadness then as soon as his lawyer asks him a question his expression switches immediately to a look of hubris as he raises one eyebrow multiple times. Then later on cue he switches to sadness then in and out as his lawyer asks him questions he calmly answers with no real raw emotion of sadness in his voice. As the questions become more pertinent to the moment he kills his wife in cold blood that’s when the deceptive behavior starts in the form of his body language. You’ll notice he swivels and moves his hands unaware of his involuntary deception of movement. For a comparison to when he is actually telling the truth refer to the beginning when he talks about how the night began. Sickening.
Yup, then he's talking about being romantic with his wife. Then him speaking about the movie gi Jane, he thinks he's the smartest most clever person in the world 🌎..smfh...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
Will you be covering any more of this trial? I hope so.
Correction , he gave the cops one story and told others a different story.
You can hear in the crowd his drama teacher is absolutely bawling
For a 19 year old he comes across as a very overly confident young fella, almost to the point of being smug which isn't a very good trait!
as a friend of danielle and a united syayes marine ..his whole story turns my stomach..hes so trained in weapon saftey there is ABSOLUTLEY NO EXCUSE FOR HIS ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE THAT MAN INTENTIONALLY AIMED DOWN THE SIGHT OF THAT GUN HIM & GOD Both know the truth
I agree. I recall seeing this on Dateline? I believe. His crying is so fake.
@@the-finn Yeah Dateline... but now Real world police is covering it new... they have about a half hour of footage immediately after he shot her and they will be coming out with other footage and interrogations soon.
You can find them on RUclips under real world police... if you don't already know of them.
I would like to know more to this story. I've tried to go in and out of it to see what problems they had or if she was having an affair or something like that that might have triggered him or if anything else. maybe you can weigh in on this I'm just curious to know.
I believe he was drunk.
@ALLisOn e what’s the name of the dateline I’d love to watch it! Maybe just search his name and dateline? Probably best bet! Thanks
If my best friend and I watch this and he said he believes this guy he automatically becomes my long lost friend overnight
I wonder if he was advised not to take the stand but because he thinks he’s the smartest in every room, he declined to follow recommendations.
3 minutes in and hes so smug and smiling??
Is this Amber Heard's little brother?
Surely the jury didn’t fall for this act? Is it because he speaks well? Is it because he fake cries? Is it because he doesn’t look like one might expect a killer to look? I really don’t want him to leave after only 13 years. Where’s the justice for Danielle? 😡 I’m so disgusted at this sentence. Even 30 years would’ve been a travesty. The fact he will leave prison in his prison in his early 30’s, makes me sick.
And his dog stepped on a bee....
Crying-calm-crying-calm.... Make up mind up #GuiltyAsSin
Gimme a break. Wolf of Wall Street here was in the infantry and doesn't know how to properly clear a weapon? And then points the weapon at his wife's head 'accidentally' shoots her? No magazine in? Any boot camp recruit learns how to make sure a weapon is safe.
LOL he practically has a glass of champagne in his hand
Wow. He's the definition of smug.
That's the driest cry session I've ever seen
I’ve notciced while watchin these guilty defendants is that they always take cry and never have a tear AND they talk while loooking at the jury. It seems so staged!!!
Amber heard did it 🫣🤣 And it looked just like this.
no tears falling. he changes his dementor to fast.
Not. Even. A. Single. Tear. 💧
I believe he got upset about his wife saying she had to go back to work for a couple hours after she was just on the phone with her friend. That's my take on it after a few minutes in..
Less than 5 minutes in and he calls himself a slob. What an odd word choice instead of messy or unorganized
I am literally disgusted and cannot go past just before 21. This is too vile to watch.
Not a single tear shed, then goes from the voice as if he were crying then straight to normal facial expression and normal voice. This alone tells me a lot, not even taking into consideration how his story doesn't make sense.
I’m sorry but if I accidentally hurt someone in my family (or any innocent person) I would be inconsolable from the very start of the story. Every detail of that night would be torture to me.
He seems amused and fascinated by his retelling of the events.
He looks really cocky!! Like he’s untouchable
He thinks he is.
