I am 70 years old. I was born in Massachusetts, but all of my grandparents came from
Greece. I always have felt like a bit of an "outsider" in America. Being Greek is something that most people in the world can never understand.

I'm only half Mediterranean but I feel more comfortable in Greece lol. I might move there.

I always live places where the small Greek community is scattered. I've been to Greece 3 times but I'm 50% Greek but 1000% American.

I hope Greeks don't lose their identity and start becoming too global in Greece!

Everything they say about being "experiencing freedom" and "coming from poverty" and "maintaining identity while becoming American" is the exact same rhetoric of every group that comes to the United States.

Looking at Greece's declining birth rate, these Greek Americans are the last hope to preserve Greek culture.

My mother is Greek but other than 3 trips to Greece my Arizona small town has 2 full Greeks and about 4 who are 1/2 like myself. I go to the Greek festival in Tucson but I tend to see myself as American vs Greek or German. My paternal grandmother's family goes back to the 16-1700s in American history. I'm proud of my Greek heritage but few Greeks to connect with here.

Sadly durring the nazi occupation they as all jews were marked out only as jews and deported to be murdered in Poland.Only my parents survived each of them the only survivors of their relatives.Very few jews in Greece survived the horrors of the nazi occupation. My mum and dad came back with their loyalty to Greece in the greek nation 100%.But sadly due to the terrible civil war in the country and my mum pregnant with me felt grateful they could accept a new life offer out of war to move to London.

Other than the Greek festival at the Greek festival I rarely meet other ethnic Greeks and most I meet in my small Arizona town are half Greek like myself or less. I've been to Greece 3 times and I taught in Constantinople. I'd like to attend the Greek church in Tucson but it's a long drive. My older brother doesn't give a rip about our Greek heritage. I'm 100% American with deep roots on the other side in America but I embrace my Greek heritage. I'm just a plain American with no hyphens.

Always be proud of your Greek fore fathers and your heritage. My two sons are in the same position as you, Greek father, English mother, I tell them its not a case of where you are born but your genetic background. If you feel Greek then you are Greek.

Fellow Greek here. I feel you man! Never lose sight of your roots 🇬🇷. I am from the DC area where there are tons of Greeks, I moved to Birmingham AL 8 years ago. Small scene here and nice church. Cheers

Unfortunately once you reach second generation in a foreign country you tend to lose your cultural identity. It gets much harder especially if you live in an area where there aren't many from your background. You see it happening worldwide.

Lest we forget Greece’s role in halting the AXIS aggression 1940-1941 Greece’s forces drove Mussolinni into the Mountains of Albania where Hitler had to come to his rescue Throwing off his timetable for his invasion into Russia. He started June 22 by the time he got to Stalingrad the winter set in and Soviets were given time to counter-attack -- I am getting old and cannot the thank the Greek people whose resistance won World war 2 ==Joseph Stalin Moscow Radio Speech 1945 WE GREEKS NEVBER LOST IT

So many Greek Americans can hardly speak Greek. Loss of the language is loss of the culture. Being Greek is not eating moussaka and Greek dancing. BTW, modern Greeks have complete freedom. Mr. Dalis is out of touch with present day Greece.

Amen to that. I'm 17 yet learned Greek as my first language and constantly went on study/work trips to my country. Giving back to the motherland also contributes to being Greek :)
