Wow!! I NEVER knew that Lady Caroline Lamb was married to Lord Melbourne!! I learned something new today!! I remember the Lady Abergavenny story!! These naughty nobles!! I love these stories of salacious scandals!! Keep them coming, Robin and team!! 👏👍❤💙💞💕
Yes, we have a few stories we wanted to bring over from News. They bprobably never really should have gone on news - this was one of the reasons we started up Chronicle - we have a surplus of "juicy" non-crime stories we wanted to share.😉 Yes, the Lamb story - there is a lot of romantacising about the relationship of Lord and Lady Lamb. She was absolutely being as difficult as she could possibly be and impacting his political career. And really, his first love was politics - he was really clear about that. Her affair with Lord Byron was EVERYWHERE. Everyone knew about it - she was not one to keep it to herself. It was like she was egging her husband on. And then THE BOOK! An expose on her affair with Byron, her love life with her husband, and swipes at friends and people she knew in society. very omg. And making her coachman catch her when she jumped out of her carraige! The only thing she did not do, as far as we are aware, was run around nude. Very diffcult for an up and coming political figure. He was, by all accounts, an exceptionally good prime minister - and certainly a trusted friend to Queen Victoria who was fairly alone and trying very hard to disengage from her mother and mother's husband who wanted to use her for their own designs. Lamb is not often quoted as a great PM - there were no huge major wars - so he was not a war pm. But, he had the gift of compromise and working with both parties - even if he did not agree - to get the best outcomes. 👍
@@nadiabrook7871 He was a lurid kind of guy!😁 It is said it was Caroline lamb who coined the phrase when referring to him: "mad, bad, and Dangerous to know"😉There was talk of threesomes as well with his half sister....you can see why he was "forced" out of england.
Fascinating research Robin, told in your inimitable style. Marvellous!
