Keep er up captain, DP needs you more than you think. Keep up good content gentlemen. 💪✌
Been watching your videos on dirt moving, truck fixing, excavator fixing, etc. Was thinking just another good old boy doing good. Then on this one saw for the first time the Form-A Drain stuff, and a disertation on siesmic requirements for stuctures. Appreciate the information, and Merry Christmas.
Nice job and HEY, this RADON stuff is serious. Where I live, don't think about selling your house without having a RADON test done FIRST. THEN any adjustments must be made and tested again. Often time it results in drilling a hole in the concrete floor to expel the gas. Fine but if you're sitting on a high water table, that hole now receives water. Quite the mess and I think hats off to you for bringing it up. Good job cuz it's serious stuff! Good job crew! Sonny (CT)
What a Great crew . Thanks for explaining about the forms y'all used . Another great Dirt Perfect video . And your Best Unpaid helper even brought you a Pepsi . Can't get better than that .
Been watching your channel for a while I'm an old 76 year old farmer - - drainage contractor - Township Trustee- workaholic I'm laid up right now can't do much but I love watching your Channel yes I have poured my share of concrete and it's typically work especially if you don't have enough help I put in millions of feet Farm drainage custom work and on my own Farms behind a trencher first and now we do most of it with a drainage plow but ten years ago I bought my first mini excavator and I love it to death I didn't buy one until I should have been retired but I would take that over a boat or a set of golf clubs any day I use it all the time and help the neighbors out with it I got a big brush cutter that I put on it and I can cut off about 4 inch rims in a couple seconds I should be completely retired but I just wish I had more work for my mini excavator cuz that is my plaything I wish I was young enough to be back in the heat of bad one like you but I didn't realize that back then take care
Great video. I haven't seen a basement job in about 35 years. No basements here in Hawaii, one hurricane and it would become a pool or water tank. Lol The last concrete job I was on was a 5 floor parking structure, that was a project. I think it used 2 million cubic feet of concrete in the foundation mono-floor, columns, deck floors, walls, buttresses, structure beams, bridge supports, skyway, and staircase structures. The columns and beams used a multi- layer 3, 4, 5, 7 rebar combination with all post tension cable floor suspension systems with 60,000 psi pulls and triple locking cones. The concrete was a dry slump 15,000 psi something or other specialty mix that had to have 12 core samples per truck batch to monitor consistency throughout the entire project for seismic/ unstable ground requirements. Nothing complicated, just a footing that took 2 and a half years to complete and you could not remove the forms from a section until the cores were cured 28 days then tested 14 days later and finally certified. Of course each section took about 2 week longer than certification, so once the first sections were certified things moved right along, except one section that had cable failure and had to be redone. I learned a lot on that job, wow.
The relationship you have with the Captain reminds me of my time working in construction with my best friend. We need to see more of you two working together. You both have great channels, but you are even better together!
Can't imagine why the worker you expected didn't show up. Bet there are a dozen or more of your regular viewers who would love to spend a week of their vaction on a Dirt Perfect experience.
doing a great job, all the while having a great time doing a JOB. Love watching someone else do concrete work, I always hated to do it. Love your channel and all the people that appear. Keep up the good work. OH and a Merry Christmas to you all.
At least you’ve got Mr Millennial and Kleeman showed up free of charge for part of the day haha. I’m about a week or so from finished for the year landscaping, wouldn’t be a far drive to Derby for some winter work for me. You guys remind me of the landscaper I used to work for before going out on my own, that was a joking, fun bunch to work with.
Like the looks of that form-a-drain. Radon is radioactive, which is why it is a problem if not vented properly, it can cause an increase in cancer. Enjoyed this build.
Love those Form-A-Drain beams for the footers, if I can ever afford it, those will definitely be used on my home along with ICF for the basement/first floor (depending on where the build is LOL)!
Food for thought. Years ago we furnish concrete for a couple bothers. When they pure the footing they would turn a 2 x 4 on it edge and put a V in the center of the footing that where they stuck the vertical Re bar in the center of the V. I ask what this was for? He said that this help block water from entering into the house basement floor. Just thought you would be interesting in some old ways of doing footing and walls..
Good video again The basement is looking good my friend that is going to be a big house but what do you expect dirt perfect on the job always going to be good work Y’all must not have a water problem there if you Doug a hole like That at my house it would already have a bunch of water in it Captain it’s always funny to watch tell him what’s up y’all be safe
Take you any day as a basement/crawlspace contractor take a drain to daylight! I know or hope the form a drain isn't tied to the sump or floor drain of/for the basement and it goes to daylight as well. My contractor said no sump just a P trap drain said yes I will take responsibility for any issues and a sump just another place for the boys to pee in we won't go into that discussion. Back filled system entirely with pea stone 2 outer perimeter tile ,1 inner ,basement floor P drain and 2 floor garage drains all schedule 35 to daylight with rat traps on the ends since Nov 98 no issues ever with water to date none expected. Good work guys shows you care about you workmanship !
Interesting to see how things are so different in different parts of the country. Down here you'd spend a couple days clearing and building up a pad for the foundation to set on, build your forms out and then wait three years for the county to show up to do an inspection before you could pour the foundation.
I was hoping for the ERICSON skycrane , helicopter, to drop in dozier ,lol,, but ramp is ok, formers look cool, like the work, I will be operating a E85 bobcat excavator for first time , wish me luck.. HAVE a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I wouldn't trowel a footing (footer as you call it) 'baby bum smooth'. If you just give it a rough hand float to make it level for the forms, when you pour the wall the base of the wall gets a bit more grip on the footing making it even less likely to move. Being able to smile and joke after the pour is done is a very good day in concrete.
Hello guys, form a drain looks good. I tried to contact form a drain people's, but they didn't reply. Usually form a drain is leveled straight with leveled footing to be poured in it. How water moves in form a drain. As Inside of form a drain also have straight divider. Unless we decline the form a drain. Which we don't, we level the form a drain to get leveled footing. Please reply. I am going to start my home build in next two months.
Those form-a-drain are the cat’s meow! No perforated pipe afterwards, don’t have to remove them, lug around form boards, allows for radon to be vented etc. Gosh, wish that I would have known about them 30 years ago! A bargain at twice the price! Cutting edge technology brought to you by Mr DP and it’s free.
Nothing wrong with getting free concrete. We got 37 yds one day that we were not quite ready for. But everyone kicked it in and made it happen. Form-a-drain is great stuff.
Good of you to keep all of the ner do wells in the county gainfully employed. That gravel under the footer would be a big no up here. Along with a day lighted drain. You can build a house on top of a ridge here and they still require a sump and pump. Why? I do not know. I do like that form a drain stuff but shouldn't the slots be on the bottom of it? Just my thought. Good video thank you. Merry Christmas and best regards from Boone county.
Landscaping mighty slow in the winter, wish you were closer. I'd love to work on my off days at the powerhouse just to get away from the pandemic which has caused my house to be full of wife and kids during the week. I want my daytime during the week time off back! I cant listen to another "What are you doin now?"
Can't imagine why the worker you expected didn't show up. Bet there are a dozen or more of your regular viewers who would love to spend a week of their vaction on a Dirt Perfect experience.
How many yards of concrete can the concrete truck haul because of weight limits on the roads? In central NC where I'm at it's only 9 yards which is almost full anyway because I think they only hold 10 yards.
Radon is a radioactive gas that occurs during the decomposition of natural uranium or thorium in the ground. Not a big deal outside - but inside is a different story. Interesting story is that a mine worker discovered his house had radon when he kept setting off the geiger counter at work and ended up bringing one home.
How long ago do you remember front dump cement trucks? I know when I see rear dumping cement trucks there is a Union workers. When I went to the city in 1987 to build homes there were very few rear dump cement trucks. They built the front dump trucks in the area we were building homes.

Do you order your spacer straps for the form a drain or do you have a local supplier? I’m getting ready to do my footers and my most “ local” (1 hour away) supplier of form a drain don’t stock the spacer straps
An attachment idea for you I’ve seen fancy skid steer concrete poring buckets but could you make almost a funnel that would attach to thumb pins and swing down to the bucket for poring stone like this or concrete? Don’t know if it would work like that
How long before the rebar you wet set in the pour begin to swell due to rust due to the bottom end not encased in concrete, i.e. in contact with the ground or loose rock?
It's fun to see your professional skills in your work I have the same profession, yes I know that people I am crazy who look at you in my spare time. Capt killman on the job and no broken mirrors. Have a great and safe week.
that is because there were no unbroken mirrors on the equipment. ;)
⬆️ the cement truck drivers knew their mirrors where safe. They saw he was in the hole. 😜

My back started to hurt just watching y'all screeding that concrete.
Innovative system to form and drain the footers. Keep teaching us neophytes
What a Great crew . Thanks for explaining about the forms y'all used . Another great Dirt Perfect video . And your Best Unpaid helper even brought you a Pepsi . Can't get better than that .
Must be great working with that Chris guy. Dude has an awesome personality.
Turned out great, good to see the Captain working with you. Thanks for sharing. Kevin

Must have missed this one good job on the basement slot of corners on this house
I like the details on how the different components work. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas.
Lots of corners. Good video.
Thanks buddy
Hard work demands laughter and a good time. Nice job on the footers. That’s a big basement
Bruce from Mason Michigan
This looks easy. Just straight edges
and almost no corners. A dream job.
Lol
Awesome work DP

doing a great job, all the while having a great time doing a JOB. Love watching someone else do concrete work, I always hated to do it. Love your channel and all the people that appear. Keep up the good work. OH and a Merry Christmas to you all.
You should get a go pro mount for your hat or like a chest mount so we could watch you work with both hands!
I love seeing the concrete work!
Thanks 👍
"A pallet full of mirrors." That cracked me up.
Ya, the look on CK's face about two seconds after DP said that.... Priceless.
Nice work. No one uses that system around my area I suggest it to contractors all the time.
That's a day of grafting looks good 👍

The basement is on the top of a hill. The drains will slope out of the side of the hill. Any water will naturally drain away.

Lol and a pallet full of mirrors. Too funny 😂
How did you get captain out of the equipment and dow on his knees????
There was a time when it was difficult to find people to do good work. Now it's difficult to find people to show up.
Sad and very true
How can someone contact you about helping on a job site?

Yes

How do you get away without embedded #4 rebar verticles
We always had to use embedded j stubs for seismic. No big deal to work around
You gotta fill the windshield washer fluid when you do the walk around.
👍😁
I love the music 🎶

love that plastic tube - shut no big splat around cool thing

Do you order your spacer straps for the form a drain or do you have a local supplier? I’m getting ready to do my footers and my most “ local” (1 hour away) supplier of form a drain don’t stock the spacer straps
We have done both
Where can I order them? Menards can ship to me but I thought they were too high it was gonna be $200 for 70 straps
How come you don,t Key your Footing ?
Coved that In the video not required with pins
An attachment idea for you I’ve seen fancy skid steer concrete poring buckets but could you make almost a funnel that would attach to thumb pins and swing down to the bucket for poring stone like this or concrete? Don’t know if it would work like that

One piece of advice only: use cheap work gloves and throw them away after you have finished the concrete job for the day. the concrete corrodes hands and wounds.
If you have time, a link to the sock you put on the concrete truck.
Thanks buddy
Good morning fella's!,,,,Look's cold there...time here 10:56pm monday here in South Australia Take care guy's! 🦘🦘🦘
Should you not have a keyway in the footer to prevent shear between the wall and footer due to earth pressure? At six feet below grade the lateral pressure at the junction of the footer and wall will equal equal approximately 480 lbs/sf lateral pressure and if water in trapped in the soil on the exterior you will have a condition of soil and water, thus the lateral pressure will increase unless relived.

glad to see a drain going outside the basement, is the homeowner getting a basement door by chance this time
Thanks and no sir
So is that a 10 tall for a drain set 20 inches wide? My house sight is well drained and somewhat sandy soil so I was looking at going 24 wide but will talk to a soil guy to be ceritian what size footer I need as I am going to do the basement and main floor all the way to the trusses with ICF. Love your videos!
10x24
Good job always doing something a little different
Thanks
Do you strip the form a drains off and reuse them or keep them on? Where do you get your spacers ?
Stay in place and become the drain
So what is the height on those forms??? Also the width?? Tough to guesstimate with a camera view
18” x 8 feet
@@DirtPerfect so is that 18" tall and 8 feet wide??
Looks great ! Gotta have some fun while workin bustin ass ! Lol
WOW use to dig basements of that size and bigger in 1 day with a 955L by itself
Awesome
