Boy was this video perhaps just about perfect in how it describes all possible scenarios in choosing a Critical illness insurance policy. Nicely covered by the way Nicola, and I doubt there is a more detailed or comprehensive source I would find out there.
I came here not being able to decide if I want to continue an existing policy - A Critical illness rider (34 illnesses) coupled with Life insurance. Because I was wondering if it would be smarter to save money going for a cheaper possibly Standalone package starting this year. I simply hate forking out 15000 credits every year on something I am not sure I would ever need. Sorry but that's me as you mentioned I really can't help thinking of cheaper options that could be possibly out there.. So I am turning 41 in two days, YEAH I KNOW - TIME TO MAKE A CHOICE I GUESS! 🍷

Just can’t get them to pay. They keep saying they don’t receive my documents. Keep asking to send the same thing over and over. Knowing the hardship my family is facing it infuriates me how difficult they make it to get such a small amount of money.

@@Stillaways2go sitting in a big comfy chair waiting to do my pet scan and wife just texted me that the third party company that is used to collect medical records has received my records. It’s been a month. Hopefully this is progress. They want for us to give up but that’s not happening. It is sad. Wish you this best. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Wife had a mild stroke (not a TIA) and since she recovered except for speech issues, the insurance (Metlife)claim was denied. Apparently you have to be in bad shape/permanently to be approved.

@@coppingtonfarnham7731 they paid my cancer claim after three months. I had the same medical records they received so I was able to repeatedly tell them the page numbers of the documents every time they tried to say they needed more. They will tell you they need documents that they already have.

Hi mate, I also work in the industry. You can have as many policies as you like, you aren’t limited to just one.

Hello, question my father has a Critical Illness policy. He took the policy in 2008. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005. The insurance is saying because he had the diagnosis before the policy, they can’t release the benefit claim. Can I fight this? Also, my dad had CDK (stage ll mild) in 2010 and in 2020 an acute renal failure in his last days last year…. Because it wasn’t chronic renal failure, the insurance still denied the claim. Can I still appeal? Also, minutes before he passed he had a cardiac arrest. Can I use the medical records to prove heart failure/ heart attack as a claim? Please note my father also had respiratory failure and covid when he passed. I’m still working on this and writing an Appeal Letter because of the denial letter received 8/6/21. Could you please help me with the process? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

It is not unusual for a pre-existing condition like prostate cancer to be covered, so unlikely you would turn over a challenge in that scenario though in the first instance you are best speaking to the insurer and finding out more about the specifics of the policy and what part of the criteria wasn’t met.
Without knowing the full background it is difficult to say if a challenge would be accepted and also - the financial ombudsman would deal with scenarios like this and be able to help you.
