This is a Porsche 911 restoration that was abandoned in 1994 after being converted to a race car. My plan is a twin turbo Subaru EZ30 porsche engine swap with 400+ HP to the wheels. Stay tuned.

About a month ago, I actually ordered the Classic Retrofit kit for my 1986 Carrera. It should arrive in the next couple days. I have to confess that I am a bit anxious about the install. I’ve watched your handful of videos when you originally installed the kit, but you are clearly a more talented wrench than me. Wish me luck!

High Five. Awesome video, watching your videos on this air conditioning system has really made me want to get one. This will definitely be in my build plans when the time comes. Especially, considering I live in Phoenix, it was 115 yesterday!

Some useful thoughts as to how to do such an installation. Thank you.
With ‘Potentially the worst drought in 1,200 years’ (according to Kathleen Johnson, California
, Associate professor of Earth system science at the University of California, Irvine) quoted in yesterday's copy of "The Guardian", perhaps the organisers of the Targa California should take note for the next edition...

Awesome. I think I'd be concerned with those clamps on an air conditioning hose, especially as it looks like you are using them on the high pressure side unless I missed something. Oetiker clamps are great but the kinds of pressures on an A/C system are beyond what I'd be comfortable using. Hence the crimped hydraulic fittings on most A/C hoses. Great work as always though.

Those are the supplied clamps. They’ve been used on hundreds of installs with no problem.

This is a really interesting product. I have a '72 MGB-GT. Back when it was new it was rated at 95hp gross, which was probably more like 80-85 net. My 130k mile car is probably more like 50. Even a healthy stock engine loses a lot of performance with an A/C compressor. The MG cam stock with 2 small batteries in individual compartments behind the seats. Most cars, including mine, have been converted to single battery. Based on the info on their website the compressor setup should fit right into that empty battery space. Pulling together the rest of the parts you need will make the total cost far more than the conventional kit from Nostalgic Air, but saving the draw on the engine and taking up more of the limited engine compartment space would be worth the cost as long as you can afford it. If you are in a state where you must retain the stock air pump saving engine compartment space is especially handy.

Haha! I'm the "I hope it works as well as $6k says it should" bitching guy- and I see your point- our cars are only going up in value and certainly having a comfortable ride is indeed a game changer- I think it's just more sticker shock at how much we spending on these cars to upgrade compared to other cars- but yeah- having them be comfortable is for sure a game changer. I have a 1990 964 so I already have factory A/C- but I'll admit- although I have great venting- the system itself either needs to be upgraded and re-charged or replaced with something like this instead- I also like that it takes the A/C load off the motor (free HP when A/C is engaged- which is nearly all the time) and cleans up the engine bay a bit- plus the upgraded alternator would allow me to finally have a decent stereo installed. I also agree too- yeah the engine noise may be magic- but not for 100's of miles. I love music too.

Really enjoy your masterful work !! BUT: a correction from an ex-sub crewman & a Rolex owner - The watch name is pronounced Submarine-R, not SUB-mariner, which is a sub-standard sailor...

    Great!
It is a wonderful pipe in a limited space.
Sporty cars have very little extra space, so it's a problem when customizing.

Classic retrofit. Fan and housing fan are still yours? The kit could provide also hot air or only cold?

I’m nervous about your sticky tires blasting the heck out of those condensers. Your plugless relay wires could be sheathed with heat shrinks just in case they inadvertently come loose and touch each other. I learned that the hard way lol

Definitely getting this system. I’m a novice mechanic, it took me 16 hours to adjust the valves and change the oil on my car for the first time. I think I’m getting faster at stuff as I go (rebuilding suspension at the moment), but how much time should a true novice budget for this install soup to nuts?

Hi! Just finished installing my CR AC and super thanks for all your how to videos. My set up: 69 911E with '74 2.7L motor bored to 2.9L. CR AC with double CR condenser and CR 110 amp upgrade alternator. AC running good except on IDLE which is at 750-800 RPM. Compressor cuts off after 2 minutes or so. Voltage on DIAG tool reads 11.7V at idle and reads BATTERY LOW . At engine speeds higher than 1.2K RPM, AC is all good, blows really cold, BATTERY GOOD, ETC! Is this normal for the system on IDLE? I really dont want to raise idle to 1.25K RPM. THANKS!
