Catching up on older episodes that I missed. Love your channel and comparisons. Just restarted my bourbon journey in December 2022. I actually found a Weller Full Proof last week for $54.99! I have Barrel batches #31 and #33. I like them both, but 33 really stands out.
How did they compare. I've got a 35 thats good but maybe not $90 good (Pretty much aligned with Erins thoughts on this bottle in video) and my store just stocked a bunch of 34.@@stuffandwhiskey
I saw the thumbnail and immediately got excited! Big fan of Barrell products and was curious to learn how it would do. We don’t see their offerings in many tastings. A Costco near me recently had Batch 30 for $69. Worth shopping around for. You both do not get enough credit for how great your channel is!
You don't get enough credit for how great you are, Dennis! Thank you so much! You're the second person that has mentioned Costco as an option for finding Barrell products for $20 less than in liquor stores too. That's a steal of a deal for a quality blend!
I'm fortunate that standard Barrell products go for $75 at my local store, Seagrass included. My personal ratings have the 27 as very good, but of recent batches I've found the 21, 25, 26, and 29 to be exceptional.
Never seen a Weller FP in the wild at any price, I have bought a few Antique 107 and quite enjoy it. Barrell on the other hand is pricey but readily available. I've killed 6 or 7 bottles, have 19 more! Batch 21 (empty), 24 (empty), 25 (open) & 26-32 full plus a whole bunch of seagrass and some single barrels. Never been disappointed by Barrell.
They're so solid and so often overlooked. We haven't gotten into the 30s yet but 26 is a personal favorite for sure. You're in for a treat once you get into that one, Ferd!
Nice showdown. You two play off of each other so well. I think I’ve mentioned in the past that Weller FP is a very rare find in L.A., and when available, it’s ~$225 - maybe $250 now. It was ~$100-125 in 2019-2020. Retail for Barrell batches ~$84-90. The batches can vary a lot. Batch 27 was very good - picked up extra. But batch 28 was excellent if you like older bourbon - deep, dark and rich. #28 vanished around here pretty fast. I found one lone bottle at the local Trader Joe for $89 formerly local/now national quirky discount grocery chain). I think them carrying Barrell was part of the COVID weirdness - Barrell is not usually found here. Keep an eye out at your local Costco if they can sell spirits. My local Costco regularly has had Barrell products appear for $70. That’s where I found batch #27 as well as Seagrass which has been on the shelves here for well over two months now.
Thanks so much for the kind words and for the Costco tip, Mark! We don't have one near us, and Tennessee doesn't allow liquor sales in grocery stores, but your comment will surely help some people. Barrell for $70 is a fantastic price!
This is a really interesting match up. Most common complaint is typically you can never find a product. Here you have something comparable and readily available but costs more. I won’t pay secondary for anything, but for a quality product like barrel I’m ok with the pricing if it means avoiding the time and effort spent hunting other products.
Thanks Eric! We knew it wasn't a popular comparison but we thought it was interesting and informative enough to put it into the blind head-to-head sample pool. Glad you enjoyed it!
For sure. Weller 12 is solid, especially if it were priced at $40ish like it should be, but it's just so hard to get. A good Full Proof pick is definitely more in our wheelhouse though, but we're a house divided on Weller overall.
I’m a big fan of batch 27…that being said, if the price creeps up any higher it might be hard to pull the trigger. Overall though, I think Barrell puts out great blends worth looking into.
We're with you there. We do like their batches well enough, but Seagrass and Dovetail are truly standout products--especially when you consider their pricing on those two compared to the landscape of finished whiskey.
Sounds like you got into the BARRELL 😂. Watched this today because just got Weller at MSRP today and was store pick. Will open soon. I like all Barrell bourbons.
Awesome episode once again guys!! Best part was the outtakes and you both hum/singing to Ridin' Dirty by Chamillionaire only because it makes me laugh out loud remembering the Weird Al parody White and Nerdy with Donny Osmond and let me tell you Donny steals the whole video!! If you haven't seen it is a must and I will even provide the link. ruclips.net/video/N9qYF9DZPdw/видео.html
The price on barrell is too high, but you can always always get them (at least here). weller full proof is a good $60 bottle. It just isnt worth secondary, which arguably no bottle is.

33 is definitely one of the best recent batches. We’ve just gotten 34 in and can’t wait to try it next to 33 to see how it stacks up!

Love Erin's facial when she exclaims, "I'm torn!" That was an excellent moment!

Weller Full Proof is one of our faves and I would buy multiples at $70, but the last Kentucky store I found this in was $399.00.

We're tracking with you on the same batch love, Doug. And $75 is a steal! That's awesome!

"I want to drink all of this, immediately"...I know the feeling, sir. That WFP was amazing to me...so much more than W12!

I've had both but don't own either. WFP is great and Barrel is really good.

And they do it for $40ish less than Bardstown Bourbon Company. There's something to be said for that in our book. Cheers Mike!
Never seen a weller full proof in person, but barrell is usually solid. Price is just high. I think seagrass and dovetail are their best

Barrel is soooooooo great!!! I love enjoying stuff so that’s regularly available. WFP is pretty solid, too 😉
They see me rollin, they hatin, patrollin, and trying to catch me ridin dirty

Haha! And congrats on the Weller score!
Erin your dislike for Weller improving. Do not feel bad. Dickel also some do not like. They laugh at me cause I like a lot.
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎
Nice video! I wish I could get my wife to drink Bourbon with me!
There's a video for that! ruclips.net/video/VnE_gOGi-S4/видео.html Cheers and thanks for watching HT Guys!

Weird Al? You're speaking our language (especially Erin's--one of her favorites)!
Wait, did the world just shift? Erin rated a wheater higher than Josh? WTH
There's a disturbance in the force for sure. 😂
Haha #tipsytalkin
We plead the fifth.😂
Thumbs down on both due to cost

We can't say that we disagree with either of you on any of these points. Especially the "no bottle is worth secondary" one, Aidan. We'll cosign that.
