    I just did an amniocentesis this morning. The pain was 3/10 and only 5-10 seconds. Different people have different experiences. Pray for my nany 💚

    oops! I forgot to add the timestamp for skipping the "why" portion at the beginning! You can skip to 3:20 if you watched the 24 week update and already know why! :)

    Thanks for sharing your experience, it takes me back to my pregnancy 8 years ago. I was pregnant with twins and baby A was believed to have spina bifida as well as other issues. The hardest part for me in getting the amino was having to get 2. You are terrified of everything that can happen by getting one, including the pain, and then you have to do it twice. The male nurse was nice enough to hold my hand during the procedure and it helped. The anticipation/knowledge of what was to come the second time was the worst. Thankfully I had no adverse reactions to the amino. I am praying for your baby and family and hope she gets her heart repaired safely soon.

      So glad my video could help you! I know it’s something no one wants to have to make a decision about because it really is so difficult and scary. Unfortunately when we face atypical pregnancies we are put in these situations ): just make the decision that makes YOU feel the most peaceful, not what anyone pressures you to do. I know a great mom that chose not to do an amnio but was prepared for her baby to have a diagnosis of T18 based on ultrasound findings. Everyone’s situation is unique! You got this!

      Hi there! I have been gathering data from other T18 moms to help counsel those planning to carry/debating carrying to help provide information about what being a trisomy parent is like. Many doctors do not paint an accurate picture. I would love to chat with you! Please feel free to reach out via instagram @Emmakatespringer

    Thank you for posting your experience. I am currently waiting to get an amnio done because my daughter is at risk for Monosomy X (Turner's syndrome). The genetic testing showed an increased risk for it but the ultrasound looks really good so far so that made it a bit hard to decide. But as Turner's has a 99% miscarriage/stillbirth rate, we thought it was worth the risk to find out a clear answer.

      I am curious too. We are in a similar situation waiting to see a specialist because the NIPT screen said our baby might have Turners.

    Were you worried of the risk to baby? Or needle hitting baby? Did they say what to do if you began bleeding?

    • @emmaspringer201
      @emmaspringer201  4 года назад +1

      Catherine Flaucher I was definitely concerned. However, because there was a lot of indications that my daughter had Trisomy 18 (which is a life limiting/fatal diagnosis) I felt that I needed to know for certain in order to prepare to cope with/take the best care of her that I could. Unfortunately there is a small risk of miscarriage which is really really scary, but you have to just weigh the risks and benefits for yourself and your baby to make the decision you feel the best about.
      They did! They gave me a paper with a list of symptoms and which things were normal and which I needed to call them about right away. My dr did really good education that made me feel like I knew what to expect and what to be concerned about!

    It was the most painful thing for me as well. I have been in car accidents that hurt less. I don't know why people make it seem like it doesn't hurt. I was screaming. Like the entire floor could hear me and I couldn't move. It wasn't quick enough for me.
