It's very clever! In 1/1 rib there's a strand for knit and a strand for purl. It would be very nice to show us a few pieces of twined knitting because it's a scandinavian specialty and us from other parts have never seen it up close. I'd like to see what it's used for, what are its properties compared to regular knit stitch etc. And some artistic knits done this way, too! Many thanks for the fascinating video.
But only is you are doing a purl knit pattern. Twining can be done with a multiple of knit/purl patterns. It is all about the twist that overlaps the yarn behind the needles and makes the fabric denser, wind and water repellent and gives the classic appearance to the fabric.
I agree with Agneta. Traditionally this technique is done with the yarn in the right hand. After we started to knit continental, the twined knitters kept on throwing. It is part of what makes it special for us. Nothing wrong with a little creativeness though. But I would only call it twined knitting and never Tvåändsstickning if done continental.
Thank you very much!
I have been searching for this method for a long long time.
how lucky i am!
Thank you so much! This is the first instruction for twined knitting in continental stylel that I could find!
So helpful. Thank you so much for this video.

In Sweden we always hold the yarn i the right hand when twined knitting.

Who cares , the outcome is the same. No tradition in the world would make me choose to change to throwing. So twined knitting work for me any day!!
