I was once tripping on shrooms and watching one of the off air episodes which featured Dans song and pretty much the visual and musical synchronization was so beautiful that I cried tear of sweet joy,
Fuck yeah, I knew of The Space Lady before Dan Deacon, I will consider that an achievement for me. I will try and remember that on the days when I feel like an uncultured swine.
I know EXACTLY what he's talking about with the buying records growing up based on their covers. Its what I spent my weekly allowance on every week, a new record, and even if the record sucked i'd cut up the album art and paste it in my journal so you know, win-win.
That Death Waltz record was staring at me the whole time. Great video, completely agree on Bungle being a "gateway band", at least for those in a perticular age group... It got me into so much experimental stuff, at least. I will definitely look into these albums, very intriguing.
Dan Deacon has the most interesting and exciting stage show. It's too bad it doesn't really work super great in the covid era, but I'm sure he's creative enough to work around it.
The Space Lady is THE SHIT! She's a absolutely legendary street performer in Boston and San Francisco, plays weird, spacy psychedelic covers of 60s and 70sn pop and rock songs. Uses only a delay pedal and a Casio.
dan deacons work reminds me of chad vangaalens. is that how you spell his last name? anyhow, they're both magnificent artists both also have music videos on adult swim
+buttrock obama also rock and roll was definitely called guitar music. man pretentious hipsterdom can really be a pain in the ass sometimes. especially when this guy has only made like one decent song that i know of.
I'm a fan of DD, and I met him once, super nice guy, but for someone like him with his knowledge and eclectic taste in music, I would've preferred if he picked records that he knew would blow our minds or whatever, instead of a bunch of records he chose randomly cause he liked the cover art.
Hey can anyone tell what that one vinyl is. It says "only god" and has a chinese dragon or an oni on it. It looks interesting but google isn't giving me anything.
This is my favorite "What's In My Bag?" thus far. Dan Deacon is such a character; I'd love to meet him. He's made some great music, too.
Why? I luv DD, but I'm not going to listen to his picks, based on purloining something from the New Age section based on its cover art.
Whenever I'm in a temporary depression, I always listen to this dude's music. It really, really helps. Like, a LOT.
he is one of the best live DJs I have seen!
For real bro
For real man! Definitely got me through early years of college.
"This is from before time started getting catalogued with numbers"
That Space Lady album is just amazing, it's a reall must have for anyone that loves The Shaggs, B.J. Snowden and Lucia Pamela.
Didn't she recently start touring again and have a bit of a revival? Seems he just discovered it without knowing who she was? Pretty awesome.
Was that a cover of Rush's Animate she was singing in the clip?
I bought that I Am The Center compilation after watching this video about 5 years ago, it's great.
Dan Deacon was amazing when I saw him in Omaha like 10 years ago. The nicest guy and the funnest show. People remember these things.

"does that make sense?" This dude is basically a professor and I love him.
Dan Deacon mentioning Mr Bungle just made me love him a whole lot more
California and Disco Volante are both the best albums ever in their own ways.
Those guitar bands are wiiild~
That "I Am the Center" private pressing new age boxed set is an amazing listen.
Yeah! He likes Mr. Bungle! Sweet! At least it gives that impression...
Plus, he seems like a really nice guy.
Fuck yeah, I knew of The Space Lady before Dan Deacon, I will consider that an achievement for me. I will try and remember that on the days when I feel like an uncultured swine.
+jacobsenx2 Ha, same! It's strange, I would have assumed Space Lady was a major influence on him!
I also came here to say exactly the same thing haha
I know EXACTLY what he's talking about with the buying records growing up based on their covers. Its what I spent my weekly allowance on every week, a new record, and even if the record sucked i'd cut up the album art and paste it in my journal so you know, win-win.

Great guy, great vibe. Loved it
I had no idea he was such a fascinating character, what the hell
Good ol' Dan Deacon. What a mensch.
I totally agree with him about music awards, because almost everyone has their own standards to almost everything
Dan Deacon has the most interesting and exciting stage show. It's too bad it doesn't really work super great in the covid era, but I'm sure he's creative enough to work around it.

I am the Center DOES have an incredible album cover! I'd buy that as a poster!
this one was long overdue!
The Space Lady is amazing!!!
He was cool. For sure. Does that make any sense?
I didn't dig his set when I saw him live, but he's damn fun to listen to here.
What?
His intuition based on the cover art is insane
Dan Deacon is a cool dude.
When they played smash mouth in the context of dan deacon, i can hear their influence lol
i just wanna listen to him
Check out Dan Deacon Bromst In The Studio.

What a down to earth fella. ;)
@1:09 "The Beautiful Sounds of Wherever the Hell He is" - I must make this song

Mr. Walkway does that make any sense?
i'm taking a "you know what I'm census" on this guy and he has said does that make sense three times now by 349.
+buttrock obama also rock and roll was definitely called guitar music. man pretentious hipsterdom can really be a pain in the ass sometimes. especially when this guy has only made like one decent song that i know of.

Lol Dan's uniform in 2015 was a striped button-up, hoodie and baseball cap
hey ya ya
I'm a fan of DD, and I met him once, super nice guy, but for someone like him with his knowledge and eclectic taste in music, I would've preferred if he picked records that he knew would blow our minds or whatever, instead of a bunch of records he chose randomly cause he liked the cover art.
habe you seen CHEF? (*points at record in the background*)
It's interesting that he likes Stockhausen, I could never figure out if Stockhausen made credible music or he was just playing nonsense.
His piano music (as featured in this video) is unlistenable, however his electronic and operatic stuff is often amazing.
what song is playing att the beginning
+goaway when i was done dying
Space Lady!!!
Has Kurt Vile or David Yow done one..I would love to see them do one..
+Most Types Of Music Kurt Vile, yes: ruclips.net/video/zb4BkiqTLHI/видео.html
David Yow, hopefully one day.

I saw this guy for free in my city, basically in a warehouse
i like how consistently inconsistent these video are in quailty and editing
Hey can anyone tell what that one vinyl is. It says "only god" and has a chinese dragon or an oni on it. It looks interesting but google isn't giving me anything.

Hes just an older me. Social awkward but adorable.
Weak picks.
I can't be the only one who thought "fucking hipster" the entire time I was watching this.
I mean he played with big name music artists. I doubt he's a hipster.
