I did make it to the end and something really stuck with me: Seeing jealousy as a symptom of something that's not right. Whether that be a headache caused by dehydration or just the impulse of moving our hand when we get burnt, jealousy is like pain, our bodies and mind's way of telling the self to make something about it.
This really helped me because for so long I've been feeling guilty for being jealous, but now I understand it's ok, it's just my traumas returning to the surface, showing me I need to change something in my life and to take better care of myself and my sense of self-worth.
Thank you very much for this video

Totally agreed. Most poly relationships fail and there is a reason for it. We are not made of stone and feelings cannot be helped. I used to feel guilty for it too and then realized I had put myself voluntarily into a poly situation which is not normal or healthy - as for most people. I too decided to take care of myself by finding a man who was happy with 'just me' ..I don't know why i put myself through all that pain and stayed as long as i did. Kudos to those that can be poly if they enjoy that sort of thing. Conor has moved out btw.

Here are three things I learned from you today, that I want to mention: 1. being grateful for past experiences, and even struggles, or bad relationships, 2. look for security and all the things that you are looking for within yourself and work on that first 3. don't get mad at yourself for feeling parts of past trauma, softly allow it, and then work with it - and if you are lucky enough to have someone communicate deeply and honestly. - thank you for that, and all of the other beautiful lessons that are in that video. These are just the ones I need to work on right now. Listening to you is a spiritual experience, and I deeply thank you for that.

I only don't feel jealous when I'm with someone I'm not into, or have lost feelings for. So I would love the freedom of being jealousy-free with a person I DO like.

Red tail hawk ❤️Thank you so much. My bf and I are experimenting with a polyamorous relationship. We've been together for 5 years and are super open and honest and genuine and loving towards each other. We are the coolest relationship I've ever seen (in real life) and now we are trying to open and see what that brings. I want to heal. It's my biggest motivation in this. An md now comes my time to face these things. I am so thankful that this content is out there. Thank you all for your beautiful work x

It’s interesting to see things from the “I’m jealous that that other guy is looking at my woman like that” vs “I’m jealous of the fact that my boyfriend might look at her and want her more than me” expression of jealousy.

Red Tail Hawk is one of my favorites. I was thinking when you said you no longer feel jealousy, but rather other emotions, how wonderful that you now, after all your work, are able to go right to the true emotion that was once masked by jealousy. What a huge shift that is! Rather than creating a divide by pointing a finger at someone's behavior as the cause, instead you are able to readily address the true issue, the insecurity within yourself. That saves a whole lot of time and conflict and makes for a much more loving world.

Not because it's not our most natural state to be yearning for this freedom .. but also because the norm that's portrayed everywhere is not this freedom. And so thank you because you keep showing up. For yourself. For us all. Thank you. Love you Conor McMillan, you rock. x

Thank you for sharing your experience. Every time I'm struggling to come back to a place of love with myself or I'm feeling overwhelmed with my being human, I watch your videos and end up feeling inspired to do healthful and loving things. I once heard the analogy that it's "planting good seeds in the mind garden and nurturing them." It helps me to hear about other folks experiences, ways they've navigated, and how they continue to grow. It shows me that the journey is chaotic, beautiful, and worth it. I'm going to learn about Red-Tailed Hawks now... :)

Your story hit me on a deep level, Conor. I can't stop crying because I feel like I'm releasing years of shame, guilt, regret, frustration, loneliness, and a longing for a better life. I feel so much relief; this huge weight is lifting off me with the realization that I can start to change right now. I don't have to wait anymore. I feel like I just hopped onto a new timeline, and now I'm in a different demension! It's gonna take me a while to process all this, but I'm just feeling a whole lot of gratitude for all that you guys put out into the world. I feel so compelled to be part of what you all have to offer on your website. I can't wait to dig in and feel deep healing. I've been running away from it for so long that running towards it didn't feel like an option. Illusions can be so convincing, but they are truly what keep us trapped---not our external reality, which constantly shifts. I see this theme time and time again with your content. I just can't thank you enough. ❤

the internal process of dismantling jealously applies to so much more than just that trauma reaction! that place you can to get to where openly expressing what you're feeling (while taking radical personal responsibility) is safe and received with love is SO HEALING. red tail hawk all the way!! this video is great and I have already shared it with someone. great tool, ty!

Red tail hawk - one of the best talks on jealousy I have heard. For growth to happen we have to test and challenge ourselves and monogamy just does not do that. Monogamy makes cruches for people to use all their life and never learn what you have on self love. Jealousy is not to be avoided, it is to be looked at to find the opportunities in it. For you, those opportunities were to become a more whole human being who loves himself more so you can love others more equally.

Hey, Red Tailed Hawk! Coincidentally I've seen a few Falcons lately and have seen a countless number of owls over the past year that my friend quotes Harry Potter, saying "You're a wizard, Anna." at me all the time now.
That's all beside the point, which is to say thank you, Conor. I love this. I love how it's naturally honest and raw and vulnerable. You give me hope in the human race, dude. . I feel I could philosophize with you on the topic for days! It made my night. I appreciate what soul you have.
You are so damn worthy. I don't know you but I have watched so many videos of yours and Brittany's that I feel excited like I do when I get to see a great friend when I see you post a new video. Compliments are hard for me but I really feel drawn to be totally open with this appreciation I have for your way of life. I watched the video of you and Britt sharing what you appreciate about each other after camping and it was so beautiful- I felt that in a far away humble way, I fell in love with both of your spirits. I shared it with my friend and her smile when I asked what she thought of it was so beautiful too. I hope your life continues to unfold ever beautifully for you! If it's not creepy I'll cuddle/movie watch with you in spirit. Haha. Also, I would love to hear more on your poetry.
Where can I ask you guys anonymous questions? I thought I remember hearing that existed in a recent binge. And I have a weird, funky life that comes with a lot of questions which are on a unique level that may vibe with the wisdom within you two.

    Thank you for this.
I have recently lost my partner because of my insane jealousy. I have been taking so much from him and not really giving much. I was so possessive and he just got tired of it. He left and now I realize how him being with others would never have impacted our love in a negative way, and even though I lost him, I finally, for the very first time in my life, have the opportunity to truly work on myself, take care of my self and start a journey of loving myself.

Red tailed hawk! Thank you so much for this video Conor. I had to pause a bunch of times (like with most of y'all's videos) because it made me ponder so many things in my own experiences on a deep level. I laughed, I cried, I processed. I've had a bunch of false starts and bad experiences with polyamory in the past, but I'm trying again, and one of the reasons I feel good about it is because of going to therapy and getting in touch with myself and my emotions, and also watching and learning from y'all - which has given me the confidence to become the person (and partner) I want to be. Much love!

Listening to your story, I felt a lot of your feelings in myself when I was younger too. I used to deal with a lot of anger and jealousy issues, still do sometimes. I think I just got to this point where I've learned how to deal with it, but the path to get to this point was sure not easy, but I'm happy and proud of myself for getting to this point. I still do have work to do (I think we all are a work in progress), but for right now where I'm at is good compared to where I've been.

Red tail hawk. I loved this video, Connor. I’ve been following you and Brit for a long time and to see your journey is absolutely amazing. I know your living situations are different now but your connection to each other is SO strong that I know you guys will make it. I too have felt jealousy and I always knew that it came down to me, not the other person. Knowing that gives me so much more power and autonomy over my own feelings, and puts things into perspective. The hard part is recognizing that it’s internal rather than external in the heat of the moment.

  • @christismith8052

Red tailed hawk!! 💕 soooo amazingly helpful! You are so real and open and vulnerable and make me feel like I can do this! God has me in a place of healing, too - and what I am learning is to share my man and encourage him to be HIM - not just ask him to cater to me. This is soooo powerful, but also sometimes soooo difficult (because of my own past trauma). I love watching you and Brittney share, because you demonstrate how to love non-exclusively. And even for those who don’t choose a poly lifestyle, there are always more people to love than just our partner - I think real love is way too huge to keep between yourself and only one person. But this isn’t possible when a person struggles with their own insecurities that lead to jealousy. So thank you, so much, Conor, for sharing this. I will revisit this video often - so encouraging! You are a real person with real problems that you are really showing us how they can be overcome! I really resonated with your “this is your future self talking to you” comment - I know I am destined to share the same type of success in the future. Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart! Love you guys and your demonstration of love 💕❤️🥰

I saw a red tail hawk in my yard today! 🦅 Now I know why it was here. My therapist calls what you talked about here "state-dependent learning." The past emotional feeling state of abandonment, for example, has to actually be recreated and felt again in order for true healing to occur. It is not an easy thing to go through. Yes, it is painful to re-experience those black-hole emotional states. But, through that, comes healing and the peace you speak of. I love your videos Conor. I hope you will do more of them. Thank you so much. 💛

Red tail hawk! Ms. Lauda here. Thank you Connor for going through all of that. The beauty is you did it just for you and are now realizing that it was really for all the rest of the world too. Emotions have always been really intense for me and i see alot of myself in you and am going through exactly the feeling to heal.it journey you were talking about. Seeing your health and wellness now makes me believe i could make it there too. You are part of why i am still on this earth and thats not an exaggeration. I was ready to end my life in an abusive relationship and seeing your story almost 3 years ago now made me realize that the kind of love and belonging and confidence and contentment and peace and level of being seen and known and experienced that you have been continually growing towards and obtaining is actually something that is possible on this planet. I honestly didnt even know the world could be that safe and meaningful and full and you showed it could be. Ive been meaning to say and true thank you for quite some time now and thia felt like the perfect video to do so. My partner and I are exploring in a committed way with a new partner at this time and this week and i just realized, that i can be scared and continue to feel residual guilt from abuse over my self love and freedom and ability to express my needs and be seen or i can actually jump in through the fear and grow. Im picking the latter with you Connor. Your an absolutely beautiful amazing and inspiring person and it would mean a great deal to me if our paths were ever to cross

oh.. grateful for your courage and willingness to share what you shared with everyone.. what i have noticed with my journey is that once you realize what is hidden underneath the jealousy it will be much easer to deal with, for example if you realized that you are jealous because whoever is not giving you much attention so you felt unworthy then you will be dealing with your unworthiness and not the external trigger although it is great also to have someone to share with.
    love to you all

Red tail hawk! Just went through a difficult breakup where jealousy plaid a key role in the disintegration of the relationship. I have been watching your videos for a while and this one came at the perfect time. Feeling more hopeful that I can do some serious shadow work, heal my pain, trauma and my jealousy, and one day find a partner (or partners) that will be on the journey of doing the same and support each-other in that. Thank you for symbolizing a light at the end of the tunnel! Sending so much love to you and your beautiful family ♥️

I am really inspired by your story. Unfortunately I can Identify with your 28 year old self well enough that it makes me uncomfortable but unlike yourself then, I have you now. I really appreciate you opening up to all of us and I hope to do right with this knowledge. You are radiant.

Red tail hawk! Conor thank you so much for this video. I’m just starting out on a non-monogamous relationship and it’s bringing up so much fear for me. This video gave me courage and reminded me why I want to do this. 💛 to you!

Red tailed hawks are such powerful, elegant and graceful creatures! And I feel like your words here added such power, elegance and grace to all of my uncomfortable experiences that I (or someone else) has called jealousy. This really did expand my heart about 8 billion times. Thank you so much for putting all this into words.

Both of you have been such a HUGE influence on me and my own journey with jealousy! I have learned SO much from the way you share your experiences, and your expression of love within that. I used to feel so skeptical of people who said that they felt love toward moments of compersion rather than jealousy, but I've really spent a significant amount of time reflecting on your videos and your expressions and it's very real here. I appreciate you so much, Conor! I am really proud of you and the growth you've experienced, and furthermore sharing it with us here!

Hey Red Tail Hawk here! Just wanted to say thank you so much for this honest conversation about looking inward for jealousy. I'm currently going through this as my wife is feeling the high of her connection she's made recently whereas I have been striking out more often than I would like haha I'm not jealous of the person she's matched with but more jealous of the feeling she's getting from it. I want to feel like that too because we're finally opening ourselves up to new experiences. Yet when I had these opportunities in the past, they were either pushed aside due to being monogamous or sad to admit, not being loyal to her at the time.
We've done a lot of growing together throughout the years and I'm so happy she's feeling what I've been hoping to show her. I just gotta remember it's not a race but a marathon and be supportive for her in this happy connection. I know we're meant to be together and allow each other to make connections whatever form they may take as long as we're able to bring that happiness back into our relationship. Thanks again Connor 🙏

Red Tailed Hawk!! Great share Connor! Thank You... Always been curious about conscious non-monogamy/polyamory/panfidelity, etc ... Jealousy has always been the clincher... Only recently in last 3-4 years have I gone beyond the "ideation" of compression and have at moments had a brief experience of the emotion in a way that is undeniable and unforgettable.. it's almost like remembering what we learned to forget... Learning how to turn off that perpetual brake society taught us to employ, from being locked onto the flywheel of love

Red tail hawk! This video autoplayed for me after one of your more recent ones, and I'm glad it did because I found this so nourishing to listen to. I've been feeling the tugs of jealousy when anticipating the post-vax world where my partner & I will probably start dating other people again, and I'm getting a lot of cues to look at my jealousy.

"voice of your future self". Nice.
I echo your journey. Details are a little different, but so much of the core work sounds familiar.
I was 25 when I first saw and felt deeply how I'd been rejected in my childhood and early adulthood, and how me not being happy with myself for feeling miserable was continuing that pattern of rejection, and how seeing that, seeing that abandoned part of myself absolutely broke me heart. It was terrifying, going into that pain. It was difficult, allowing myself to feel that pain, to cry, and not to immediately clam up, or start to feel shitty even because I COULDN'T feel it, couldn't get down into it. It took time. A bit at a time. Sometimes a flood, sometimes a trickle. Sometimes a clear memory of a trauma, sometimes something that was beyond words, but which nevertheless covered me like a blanket.
Going through that trauma work with myself was exactly what needed to happen, even though I felt so broken going through that, I ended up finding out how to take care of myself, to be there for myself, to feel something difficult but not to immediately start beating up on myself, but the opposite, to be supportive, validating and nurturing. I'm 52 now and I can honestly say that I am a loving human being, and that loving other people in a secure way is possible because I first learned to love myself.
I'm not saying it's a done deal...every day, the echoes are still there. But you see through your trauma...and seeing through it gives space, time, and options, positive options too. And that in the end, makes a huge difference.
A huge thank you for sharing Conor. I'm sure you know how much this stuff helps, but you have such a wonderful clarity about these things, and you see and explain so clearly the frames inside which these experiences can live and breathe in a way that nourishes us and teaches us. Namaste brother!

Red tail hawk ~ I appreciate you sharing this. My grandmother always said “You must always carry your own purse.” She meant (in a nutshell) to own and take care of yourself first. Once that foundation is there, sharing is easier. And, if something happens your purse holds the “tools” to fix. R. I. P. Dear grandma ❤️. She was a wise lady. Sincerely, Sun Flys West
