Panthers have added Isaiah Papalii and Blaize Talagi but over the last 3 years they've lost Stephen Crichton, Kurt Capewell, Matt Burton, Jarome Luai, Api Koroisau, Viliami Kikau, J'maine Hopgood, Spencer Leniu, James Fisher-Harris. They've been gutted, the more they've achieved the higher players salaries have become so they've had to let a lot of quality players leave and they're mostly their own juniors developed.
Because of the salary cap, can't keep big name and priced players, so they have to start again with younger guys and teach them to fill the whole NRL teams
You do realise, that is actually the goal of the NRL with the salary cap? The salary cap is there so when good players are in a great team the money can entice them to leave so we don't end up with one club forever winning.
Panthers system allows everyone to play in tandem they all know their game plans they have combos from sg ball
They will still be top 4 after all is said and done for the next however many years they just do it better then most.
The salary cap saves the NRL from being the Premier League. It works and has to stay.
I dont see this one as a parra management issue, they offered him the keys to the club and he still wanted out. Not much else the club can do to retain someone who's only played 10 games and thinks he's bigger than the club that gave him his debut. Times got tough and he quit

As a South’s supporter, I don’t think the Panthers are trying to build a competitive roster, because they already have one. If this kid didn’t sign, I don’t think Panthers would be breaking out in boils

Why is everything on this show framed in the negative? Maybe it's not a bad thing to get rid him and his agent (whom the show slags every chance they get)
More of a question is whats the point of reporting negative or positive on any transfer when the contracts aren't worth the paper there written on.

Maybe they can buy all the washed up players, and let the good ones go, yea, what an idea, I'm feeling so positive for Parramatta. You know when you are looking like the future is spoons, at least you can be positive, that you're good at obtaining spoons.

I have been supporting my team “Parramatta” since I came to Australia since 1963. I have ridden the bad and the good. Over tha past 3 years I have been so concerned that the decisions for keeping players has been controlled my Managers not the Club. My lord what is happening, sign a contact but no ‘ get out clauses’. Plus we lose young players from our academy , where the club builds players to then move in to another club. Sack the board, create a strong contractual progressive agreement and finally and this should be for all clubs. 1)each player is on an individual KPI CONTRACT Key Performance Contract. 2. That the player agrees not the Manager 3 that there is a 2 month review over the season to bring players on the KPI. OVERALL Loyalty is a 2 way street.so each party is there to perform. Finally the Board,selectors should also be on a performance review. If we lose great potential players due to poor managerial lapses, then fall on your own sword.

This is why Clubs like Panthers, Storm & Roosters will always be up the top of the tree and poor old Parra and Tigers will be trailing behind. Rugby League can be a cruel game.

Actually Parramatta have shown when they are run properly they can be up there. For many years, they had Fitzgerald as the CEO, the club was very competitive, almost always in the finals, after he left and the board went the club went through a decline. When Bernie Gurr came in as the CEO things started to pick up again but since he left and this Sarantinos and McElduff have came in, they are back down again. As they said in this video using the quote by Jack Gibson "Winning starts in the front office".
Good move. With Romey gone at Panthers Blaize could be the 5/8 next to Cleary this time next year.

I don’t understand why these clubs allow rookies even the thought of adding clauses, that should be reserved for the veterans.
The whole practice should be banned by the NRL and player managers should be more strictly managed.

It’s none sense that the salary cap can destroy a team that has been build from the juniors. There should be a way of supporting teams that work hard developing players.

Perspective.. parra have had massive set of injury’s acrosses the board. Our captain and full back was running busted and missed a whole bunch of games. Our best and most important player (half back and our kicker) injury’s for half a season. Talagi and F off. The kid can’t tackle anyway .. he is still all hype at the moment

It is a professional league, the minimum is around $130,000 plus. The draft was outlawed by the federal court, restraint of trade I think?

Storm are still the benchmark when it comes to contracting and recruitment. They don't have the luxury of having a huge heartland like the Panthers ;-) Storm have to recruit everyone away from their friends and families and get them down to Melbourne from NSW or Qld.
Storm the only team in the biggest city in Aus, are privately owned and have wealthy backers. Third party payments are legal now so no need for two sets of books.
Panthers are a traditional leagues club backed team surrounded by working class suburbs. You can't compare the two, they are so different.
@@SlaintheMhath My point is that Melbourne has the uphill battle of luring players away from friends and family in NSW and Qld, and often money is not enough to overcome this hurdle. Penrith has a huge heartland and their players grow up in the area and probably want to stay there because their family is there too. Penrith have obviously been great at building a dynasty, but they're getting perhaps 40% of the good juniors coming up through their ranks and who want to stay in the area 🙂

I was a Parra supporter way back in the 60s, I saw the greats of the 80's play, you blokes think a HB who played origin because no other was available, more fool you, Moses was their last choice, he plays lazy 90% of the game in club games, Parra has a lot of problems, from coach down to HB.
