Make the radius of the circle you swing along... smaller. And rush attack speed and lifesteal They can't disrupt the circle unless they get too close. Which means if they get hit by the barrage first attempt, they will most likely die in the engage after you break the swinging.
Hey zwag, you can use your ignite with Akshan’s E so you can focus all the shots on the target. So if there were minions and ur in a fight. Use ignite immediately with E then all the shots will go to the target. Hope this helps
That last big swing where you were tanking two turrets makes me think that it's the perfect way to get your adc to blow them up uninterrupted. Maybe even a base tower dive angle.
Akshan’s E is very strong, it focuses the nearwst enemy, however focuses champs marked by dirty fighting (passive) so poking with q/aa and following up with E can do TONS of early damage

Run a comp with Trundle where in the middle of a team fight he puts up his pillar and you swing around killing everybody. You can mix that with a Veigar cage.
Play volibear top or jungle with ap and tank. Runes: leathal tempo, triumph, alacrity or tenacty, coup de grace. If top take: manaflow band and transcendens. If jungle take: celerity and waterwalking Adaptive force and attack speed. Start dorans ring and heal potion Build: nashors tooth, then riftmaker, then tank items (thormail, frozen heart, spirit visage) I find this to be very powerful. Flash, ignite for top Smite and ghost for jungle
you could try going conquer/bloodline/bloodthirster and a spellshield item so they cant just take you out of the spin with one stun. also i dont think you have to go hydra, your clear will be slower but you have a lot of time in between waves to clear them anyways

For a champ that can revive allies mid fight as a PASSIVE, yeah no he's doing almost too much damage. But hey. What do I know. Zilean never caused any major balance issues back when his ULTIMATE could have 20s cd when his W also reduced it. Never heard of that.
