Thanks again Brian for another informative video,I have these on my car and wasn't completely sure how to use them, keep up the good work sometimes its the little things that need explained to us Einsteins
I've just got my ultimate in the UK, but when I'm in Eco mode , the flappy paddles don't do anything? And I can't see the 3 levels? What am I doing wrong??
@@doolanbrian I'm yet to try it in sport mode to be honest, first drive today and I just left it in ECO while I was commuting to work and back, according to the manual, regen braking is not available during cruise control , which I've not used yet, or if ESC is on ... Not sure if that has been switched on , maybe by the dealership delivery guy, I'll have another look tomorrow and try sport mode to make sure that works. Thanks for the replies.
@@zulboy It may not be wrong .. so in eco mode it will probably allow regenerative braking but in sport mode it will change gears , is that what is happening ???
Thanks Brian this videos has been really helpful to me. I have Hyundai kona hybrid 2020 every time I try to use the paddle shifters for regenerative breaking it goes directly into sport mode changing gears. How do I use the paddles for regen breaking ? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼
Ok 👍 thanks for watching, is your gear selector sitting the correct position ! It should be all the way down to D .. but it should not be over to the right in sport mode ??
@@doolanbrian Thanks for the reply, Yes my gear selector is always all the way down on D when I am driving and I usually see the green colour Eco mode on my screen. But then when ever I try to use the paddles shifters for regen breaking it automatically goes into sport mode and the paddles start changing gears instead. Then I have to pull and hold the right paddles for few seconds then it will come back into the green colour Eco mode again.
@@doolanbrian in Finland. I went to local Hyundai store they told me that my car Hyundai kona 2020 hybrid do not have the regen breaking on the paddles shifters. That the paddles shifters are only for the sport mode driving changing gears and when I am stopping using the breaks that is only way I get the regen breaking not via the paddles shifters. This is strange
@@ufokaeugeneprivate1498 Very unusual but I presume this is the Finnish specification! Sounds like Hyundai have decided that you guys prefer sporty driving to economical driving! If the dealer feels the specification is correct for your country, then most likely it doesn’t have the regenerative braking ! Sorry I couldn’t help better on this one, thank you very much for watching though
I don’t believe they are, they are more like in Santa Fe, they allow gear changes but they don’t seem to allow you to select the level of regenerative braking 🤷🏻♂️🙂
@@doolanbrian I wish that I got this on my Tucson HEV... Any idea if this could be enabled? This can easily be added via update... but if even the old Kona has it, why the Tucson doesn't... Thank you for the video!
I did finally Robbie 🥵🙂 better camera , well the camera is not scratched up like the last one anyway 🤣🤣 last one was iPhone XR , this one is an 11 so the camera is a wee bit better ✌️🙂
@@doolanbrian that’s cool there’s definitely a difference in the quality. I could also tell as the angle in some of the clips was much wider than before. I’ve got the iPhone 11 too! It’s a decent aul camera. Beforehand I had an iPhone 7 so it was a significant jump to be fair😄

Someone else said this to me before, and I couldn’t figure it out, your vehicle is full hybrid?🙂

@@PB72UK so if you’re in sport you can change gears etc but if you are in hybrid the paddles serve no function ??

@@PB72UK I’m curious, keep me updated !
Do you need any setting to press the paddles to increase the level of the regenerative braking?
You don’t have to change any settings, just use the paddle while driving if that makes sense?

I am wondering, from your experience what is the most efficient mpg you can get on Kona hybrid ?

Regenerative braking system works until the battery is near full or when the road is slippery from rain or ice
That’s true, it’s like a nice gentle braking system in slippery conditions as you say! Thanks for watching
