If you want to evangelize Catholic's Mike, you need prove that the Eucharist is not the Resurrected Christ, just a wafer. You will need to explain just how Christendom got it UNIVERSALLY wrong for over 1,000 years. Questions for you to answer in your evangelism:
    - Where does the bible state the Lord's Supper is symbolic only?
    - In John 6, the bread of life discourse, list who took Christ speaking symbolically only? Then list who took him literally (don't forget Ch 7, para 1)? What do you find when you compare these two lists?
    - In the Old Testament, did the Jews symbolically eat the lamb, yes or no?
    - In the Old Testament, did the Jews eat a symbolic manna?
    - Who ever taught Mike's fallible interpretation of scripture that it was symbolic only? Be specific to names, dates.
    - What did Christ mean when he promised to lead his Church to ALL Truth?
    - Was Jesus himself undependable in his promise for his Church to error so greatly, so universally?

@Sarah for Jesus ministries "Don’t be deceived"
Don't you mean Sarah to trust your fallible interpretation of scripture, decapitated from the very faith from which it came? Can you cite ANYONE in the first 1,000 years who taught your interpretation of scripture on the Lord's Supper being symbolic only (and the bread ONLY being a wafer, never changing?). That you are unable to, should give you pause ... that your fallible interpretation of scripture is wrong.
So too, one wonders Sarah how those who decided your New Testament canon (see your table of contents), 27 writings out of 300+ early Christian writings, could have ALL been DECEIVED and Sarah some 1,600 years later is right?
This makes Jesus out to be undependable and a liar. Rather, Catholic's trust Christ completely ALL of his promises below:
Christ is the head of his Church. (Col 1: 18)
Christ''s Church is the pillar of truth (1 Tim 3: 15)
Christ's Church is the bulwark of truth. (1 Tim 3: 15)
Christ's Church is where the manifold wisdom of God is made known. (Eph 3: 10)
Christ *PROMISED* to lead it to ALL Truth. (Jn 16: 13)
Christ PROMISED that he would NEVER leave it. (Mt 28: 20)
Christ PROMISED that the gates of hell would not prevail ; (Mt 16: 18)
Christ's promises protect his Church from teaching doctrinal error.

@Sarah for Jesus ministries "the early church fathers will show you that even they saw it as a sign"
Right Sarah, ALL Sacraments are signs, but not signs only, of a greater spiritual reality. That's egg-actly why you won't find any of them speaking to a symbolic only reality. And you should note Sarah, just who many of these ECF's are ... all Catholic's, many of them Catholic Bishops. They ALL believed that that through their words of consecration the bread and wine Transformed into the Resurrected Christ, just as Jesus says: THIS IS MY BODY. See John 6 ....bread of life discourse. Write two columns: 1. ALL who took him speaking symbolically only and 2. ALL who took him literally. What do you find when you do so ? And read too and include Chapter 7, paragraph 1.

@Sarah for Jesus ministries Sarah, do you have the source citation for St Augustine's quote or are you just copying and pasting from who knows where?
That said, notice in the quote, he says nothing about it being figurative only. He must have been one confused Bishop, believing that the bread and wine transformed into the resurrected Christ through HIS words of consecration.
"the Catholic Church is a false apostate church "
Well you use the Catholic book Sarah, tacitly submitting to this apostate Church's authority to know what books belong in your bible, at least the New Testament exactly.
Interesting, St Augustine was there at Hippo and Carthage when the Bishops affirmed the repeated decisions of Bishops in Rome some 20 years earlier.
      "Please read your Bible"
And note, you won't find the canon, what books belong in the the bible, in the bible.
The authority that decided for you Sarah is the Catholic Church !
Suggest reading Augustine's tractates on John. After reading them, let me know if his beliefs are that of a Evangelical USA Christian or that of a Catholic. :)
      I already know the answer.

@Sarah for Jesus ministries "Paul said it was to be done in remembrance"
Right Sarah. "Remembrance" should remind you of the Old Testament Passover meal. In succeeding generations, the Israelites at the meal in _remembrance_ of the original meal. Doing so brought them mystically back to the original meal itself. And in the Eucharist, we eat of the resurrected Christ as a means of receiving his grace, the original sacrifice made present before the Father for all time.
"If he was truly present already then there would be no need to proclaim his death as you wait for him as he would already be present with you"
He is truly present whenever two or more are gathered in his name. He is present too in the symbols of the bread and win, as they are signs of the greater reality of his Resurrected Body and Blood. A means to receive his Grace. Remember, we are saved ... by Grace.
And do Sarah create those two columns reading John 6. List for each who took Jesus as speaking Sarah (symbolically only) and those who took him as a Catholic (literally).

    • @TruthHasSpoken
      @TruthHasSpoken Год назад

@Sarah for Jesus ministries t”he Israelites coming together every year to remember the Passover was not the same as reliving the night that God took the Egyptians”
WRONG. Quoting directly here from a Jewish source:
_Maggid” (Re-telling) section of the Haggadah, that _*_remembrance_*_ is but a means to a larger ends. The end of the Maggid section reveals why:_
_In each and every generation people must regard themselves as though they personally left Egypt, as it says, “Tell your child on that very day: ‘This is what God did for me when I left Egypt.’” The Holy One of Blessing did not redeem only our ancestors, but God even redeemed us with them, as it says, “God brought us out of there in order to bring us to and gave us the land that God swore to our ancestors.”_
For the Jews, “remembrance” is a liturgical term speaking to the offering of a priestly sacrifice (a memorial sacrifice). The Eucharist is a perpetual sacrifice offered by Jesus the High Priest.
*Question: did the Jews eat a symbolic lamb?*
Keep in mind, Jesus is the Lamb of God. As St Paul says, we have to keep the feast (1 Cor 5: 8)
      “ but simply remember it”
Remembrance ! There you go! You need to understand what the word means for a 1st century Jews and Christians.
“we are saved by grace through faith”
Very Catholic. It’s not JUST that initial ascent of faith, the I BELIEVE …. To be IN CHRIST, We must keep the commandments as Christ himself says (Mt 19: 16) in love of God and neighbor, a faith working in love as scripture says _For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love._ (Gal 5)
“and not of works lest any man should boast”
Context. You do not understand what is meant here by WORKS. This too confused a 16th c Catholic Priest named Luther. St Paul is comparing the *works of the Law to Faith in Christ.* The works of the Law can not save. One must read the chapter / passage to understand the context and not pick verses out in isolation.
      We are saved :
      1. BY GRACE (an unmerited gift)
      2. THROUGH FAITH (an act of the intellect)
Abraham was initially justified by faith. “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”
Notice that no where in scripture does scripture ever state that one is saved by "faith alone." That concept wouldn't come into Christianity until the 1500's (a NEW gospel scripture warns about, Gal 1: 8)
      3. WORKING IN LOVE (completing "faith" in love of God and neighbor)
God's Word through St James is quite clear. Our faith is NOT separated from our "works" of love. Abraham was justified AGAIN through works = of love !
*_Was not Abraham our father justified by works,_*_ when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?_ (Ja 2: 21)
      Who should I believe....
      A. Sarah
      B. God
God continues, saying that our works of LOVE Justify us.
_You see that _*_a man is justified by works and not by faith alone_* (Ja 2: 24)
      Who should I believe....
      A. Sarah
      B. God
Note, the ONLY time in ALL of scripture those two words are side by side "FAITH ALONE" and scripture says one is JUSTIFIED (made right with God .. SAVED!) by WORKs, not FAITH ALONE !!
Again, this bears repeating, faith is never alone from works of love. That is why God says faith is made complete by works of love:
_You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works,_ (Ja 2: 22)
or restated, without works of love, faith is incomplete. And can an incomplete faith .. faith alone ... save you ? God says. no !
_What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him?_ (Ja 2: 14)
"and so by believing you have to partake in the Eucharist to receive grace is the opposite as that’s works"
The Eucharist is a means of receiving God’s Grace.
      Scripture:
_So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you_ (Jn 6: 42)
      Symbolic only? No.
*Question: What does the word “UNLESS” mean?*
“There are no works needed for salvation”
The works of the Old Testament law can not save. We are saved through faith. But … we must STAY attached to the vine, as CHRIST SAYS: Keep the Commandments. If we FAIL to love, we can as branch, be cutoff, bundled and thrown into the fire. ALL who are attached to the VINE are 100% SAVED.. But scripture shows that SALVATION can be lost … when we sin mortally AND do not repent.
“ as the one sufficient sacrifice completed at Calvary was sufficient to save us”
Very, very Catholic. But God gives us free will to reject his gift of salvation, even AFTER we have been justified by our initial faith.
“ because of his mercy and the washing and renewal of the Holy Spirit.. “
Scripture here is speak of Baptism. Just as GOD SAYs in 1 Pet 3: 21:
      _Baptism now saves you_
We receive the indwelling of God within us and sanctifying grace lost in the sin of Adam.
“Being born again has nothing to do with baptism.”:
You will NEVER EVER find a Christian in the first 1000+ years teaching what you believe. That’s why you can not cite ANYONE, ANYWHERE in the world teaching what you believe. Not one person. Christ must have been a horrible teacher. You preach a new Gospel (Gal 1:8). REJECTED! Being BORN AGAIN has everything to do with Baptism. One is BORN AGAIN scripturally through Baptism. Note too, you also disagree with MANY other PROTESTANTS on this subject. Since you like to quote St Augustine, here is a quote from him
“It is this one Spirit who makes it possible for an infant to be regenerated through the agency of another’s will when that infant is brought to Baptism; and it is through this one Spirit that the infant so presented is reborn…’Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit.’ The water, therefore, manifesting exteriorly the sacrament of grace, and the Spirit effecting interiorly the benefit of grace, both regenerate in one Christ that man who was in one Adam.” Augustine, To Boniface, Epistle 98:2 (A.D. 408).
“ he doesn’t need to offer repeated sacrifices”
No repeated sacrifices in Catholicism. If you are going to evangelize Catholics, at least, at a minimum, know what the Church teaches … don’t be in ignorance of even worse, lie to others.
“Also the Catholic Church teach that you have to obey the law to be saved:”
Again, more non sense. Cite WHERE does the Catholic Church teach one must obey the law to be saved?
“Galatians 3 says there under a curse as no flesh is Justified by the law!!”
Right. The OT law can not save.
“And I will list a few fathers”
So you earlier quoted St Augustine but not can not find the source of his writing? Copying and pasting from some website and not even having the source writing at hand shows you don't understand what you are even reading.
Related Question: where in scripture does SPIRITUAL ever mean SYMBOLIC? This is the root of your problem, you don’t know how and what St Augustine meant using the word SPIRITUAL. This is good homework for you to find out.
      “Didache; spiritual food and drink”
      To my question.
“Justin Marty; In remembrance of the body …. Clement of Alexandra; symbol of the sacred blood. … Origen; we have a symbol of the gratitudes to God in the bread which we call the Eucharist. “
NONE Of those men above are saying the the Eucharist is symbolic only. Not one. You don’t know what the word remembrance means, ALL Sacraments are SYMBOLS yes but not SYMBOLS ONLY … of an underlying spiritual reality …
You need to do a LOT more homework. Or remain in ignorance.

@Tony S there's a laundry list of things he's wrong about when it comes to catholicism. His our faith is "faith + works" even though no church document has ever said that. He says we worship mary and the saints, that's a lie, the church condemned worshiping mary in the 400s because a heretical sect was offering sacrifices to her. I can go on. And when he says "this is what the church teaches" I would suggest reading the catechism for yourself and you'll find that he's out of touch with what the church actually teaches. And lastly, when it comes to scripture, he quotes scripture saying "this is what God says" but it's really just his interpretation of what God said. And when a fallible person is trying to interpret something infallible then that person can be wrong. Especially when these books were written hundreds and thousands of years ago, in a different place, a different culture, and in different languages. Just something to think about.

There is nothing coming out of the mouth of the heretic which is new on the face of the other. These arguments are centuries old and have been rebutted again and again by both Christian and protestant scholars.
The Greek word translated “until” in this passage (heos) does not always refer to a change in condition. When Jesus quoted Psalm 110 he said, “David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, declared, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till [Greek, Heos] I put your enemies under your feet’ ” (Mk 12:36). However, this doesn’t mean the Messiah will cease to sit at the Lord’s right hand after his enemies have been subdued. Second Samuel 6:23 also cannot imply any reversal in condition given that in the Greek Old Testament it says, “Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to [heos] the day of her death.”
Since the Protestant apologist is claiming the use of heos in Matthew 1:25 refers to a change in Mary’s virginity, he carries the burden of proving heos has this meaning in this passage. Allison claims the word has this meaning because in every other case in Matthew’s Gospel he refers to a change in condition. Therefore, we are justified in saying Matthew 1:25 is not an exception but refers to a similar change in Mary’s virginity.41
But aside from the fact that authors can use words in unique ways, this argument fails because Matthew 28:20 uses heos without implying a change in condition. In that verse Jesus tells the apostles, “Observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to [heos] the close of the age,” even though Jesus will be with the apostles even after this present age comes to an end (cf. 1 Thess 4:17). Concerning Matthew 1:25, John Calvin wrote, “No just and well-grounded inference can be drawn from these words of the Evangelist, as to what took place after the birth of Christ.”
In the fourth century, a Roman writer named Helvidius claimed that the Gospel’s references to Jesus’ brethren were best explained by denying Mary’s perpetual virginity (this has come to be known as the Helvidian view of Mary’s virginity). One answer to Helvidius, offered by Saint Jerome, was that Jesus’ brethren were his cousins or other extended relatives and were not born of either Mary or Joseph.50
This explanation is plausible given that two of the brethren, James and Joseph, are also mentioned in Matthew 27:56. This verse says that looking at a distance upon the site of the Crucifixion “were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee”. According to Protestant minister E. Anne Clements, in her review of the women in the Gospels:
Some have argued that “Mary the mother of James and Joseph” (Matt 27:56) is Mary, the mother of Jesus because the names James and Joseph appear in the list of Jesus’ brothers in Matthew 13:55. Mary is consistently referred to to to to as Jesus’ mother (Matt 1:18, 2:11, 13, 20, 21, 13:55). It would seem very strange that at the crucial point of Jesus’ crucifixion
Matthew would name Mary in this way or that she would be called “the other Mary” (Matt 27:61, 28:1)

Do you know the Gospel of Salvation and what the Bible says as to how to be saved? Do you really understand John 6, which has nothing to do with communion? Do you understand what idol worship is? Do you understand the difference between faith vs works, and why that is important? What's the difference between Christianity vs religion? Have you been "born again" and if so how do you know? Those celebrating the meal believed that it made the original meal present, now! And, in the original Passover meal, one had to not only sacrifice an unblemished lamb, one had to EAT the lamb or your firstborn would have died. Jesus, is the Lamb of God. One has to eat the Lamb, his resurrected body blood soul and divinity, a means of receiving his Grace. So too, it's having the personal relationship with God that he intends.

The church had existed 380 years before the bible, but the Christians were not without guidance.
The Acts of the Apostles tells us that they “were persevering in the doctrine of the apostles” (Acts 2:42).
Christ, therefore, meant the official teaching of the apostles and of their successors in the Church to be our guide, not the written Bible which is so liable to misinterpretation by its various individual readers, however sincere they may be. Christ in his wisdom will not let the bible be our only guide in our Christian life.
It is through His apostles and His church that Christ orally left His teachings to develop canon/doctrines for Christianity as it goes forward in time.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Like new social issues that beset our society, that were not in ancient books, written by ancient men.
Real life is a witness to this truth:
How Christianity would handle and define: abortion, artificial birth control, gay marriage, euthanasia, divorce, gender fluidity, etc.
---- Christianity must be united as one voice to these issues...a solid stand against the enemy of the sanctity of life and the family.
St. Paul: “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that ye speak the same thing, and that there be no division among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor. 1:10)

Thanks guys for getting this out to let people know about eternal matters and invite Mike Gendron to shed light on this apostate religious cult known as Roman Catholicism. I've been converted by the Lord from a similar religious background known as the Romanian Orthodox Church which is distantly related to the Greek Orthodox Church. I've been a born again follower of Christ since 2013 when I knew I needed to call on the Lord and be saved according to Romans 10:9-13 and Acts 16:31. Luke 18:13 came to memory when the Lord drew me to my knees at night because He would not let me sleep until things were settled. Following that, I received His peace that passes all understanding and went away justified like the tax collector. I can confidently say that I am saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone on Scripture aline to the glory of God alone according to Ephesians 2:8-9. I'm also confident in the absolute assurance that I know that I have eternal life based on my faith in Jesus Christ according to 1 John 5:13. May God bless your Covenant Podcast ministry.

Vernon, how I know I can rely on God's Word is powerfully authoritative is because I've been born again since 2013 as you've obviously read in my testimony given in this podcast. You're right that the Bible didn't just fall out of the sky. The LORD led prophets, apostles and lay people- 40 in all over a period of 1600 years to write (2 Peter 1:21) and now we have it to guide us for faith and practice. I was actually never a protestant nor am I one today and neither am I part of religion anymore. I've been born again since 2013 and am a follower of Jesus Christ. Vernon, perhaps you need to be born again not in false religion such as Roman Catholicism but a genuine faith in Jesus Christ. I'm leaving you with some key verses: John 3:3,5,7; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-13. No one is born again as a catholic, protestant or whatever else you want to call it. The Lord Jesus Christ urged that one must be born again from above. The mass, transubstantiation, eucharist, the seven sacraments and any mystical religious practice is NOT the answer but a dangerous hindrance to the glorious gospel of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN, said JESUS CHRIST.

@@ericevearitt3317 I know the Bible is the inspired word of God because the Catholic Church, which existed for 300 years before the New Testament was compiled told me that it is. How do you know that all the books of the Bible are inspired? Because they say they are? You need some kind of authority outside of the Bible to prove the Bible. I have a genuine faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Nobody comes to the Father except through Him. I've been "born again." I was baptized as an infant. I chose Catholicism as an adult at the age of 38 after much discernment and study. I thought it was false at one time myself. Now I know better. I have experienced the peace that comes from the Eucharist, the Body of Christ. It's a little bit sad that some go out of their way to attack Catholicism. Catholicism does not attack the Protestant sects but instead rejoices in whatever Truth we have in common, while welcoming all to enjoy the fullness of Christianity that is not to be found in Protestantism or in do-it-yourself churches or in "me and God" believers who each interpret the Bible in different ways and sometimes in ways to suit themselves. They have no authority to guide them regarding avoiding such sins as divorce, abortion, use of contraception, fornication, masturbation, transgenderism, etc. They leave the door open to accepting all kinds of crazy false morality that the world gives us. I accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I have been born again. That goes with the territory of being a practicing Catholic. I hear and believe the Word of God proclaimed every Sunday as well as at daily Mass. I do not believe I am saved by my works but by the grace of God. But faith without works is dead so the two go together. Nobody can do good works except by the grace of God. I don't see why this is such a sticking point for those outside of Catholicism. I can't do a good work or even take my next breath without God's permission. Anyway, I've found my way into the fullness of Christianity and there is no persuading me out of it. There is no other place to go. It would be nice if anti-Catholics could at the very least accept that Catholics believe as they do in good faith. (Though there are many Catholics who are poor examples of Catholicism and there are some very corrupt bishops in the church). May God bless you and your family.

Vernon, what I'm denouncing is the false religion that the apostate Roman Catholic cult is, and NOT THE BIBLE as GOD’S WORD. When I was born again in 2013 I learned from the truth of God's Word that Jesus my Lord and Savior is the Way the Truth and the Life and no man comes to the Father but through Him alone. Roman Catholicism denies salvation in the finished work of Jesus Christ according to Hebrew 10:14 and she elevates the seven sacraments as a hindrance to the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. What you're involved in Vernon is not a genuine faith in Jesus Christ but in a religious cult that has treacherously misguided and held people in fear for their lives with the biggest money makes of fictitious Purgatory. You need to learn the Bible better for yourself not how the priests interpret it.

Purgatory is not fictitious and if you carefully read Paul and suspend your anti-Catholic bias, you will see that he speaks about it as well as the Eucharist. Lastly you're way off base with your "fear for your lives" comment. I've never experienced anything like that in my 25+ years as a Catholic. If anything priests and bishops need to be more assertive regarding the danger we put our souls in by conforming to the world and not to what Christ teaches. Sadly, even some churches who call themselves Christian accept abortion, contraception, divorce and remarriage and many other sins because they have no guidance and because they have the "bible only" and freely invent their own contradictory doctrines.

---John 6:53] Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. In verse 56 Jesus clarified what He meant by eating His flesh and drinking His blood. Uniting to Jesus by faith produces the effect of mutual indwelling with Him.
---1 Cor 11:24-25 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was ...
      ---Matthew 26:26
26 As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.”
      ------John 6:35
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.--unquote
Obviously you have NO understanding of that verse!!!!
READ IT AGAIN!!! "he who comes to Me will not hunger"- his body
"he who believes in Me will never thirst.-"--His blood!!!
Whomever FOLLOWS Jesus will NOT hunger--due to His words!!!
Whomever BELIEVES in Jesus will NOT THIRST--due to His words!!!
      ------Communion
How do you labor for the food that endures to eternal life? Believe in me! (John 6:27, 29) “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me [in faith] shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35) “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:40) “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.” (John 6:47)
      --------------------------------
When the crowd took offense at his gruesome talk, Jesus exposed their unbelief: “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe” (John 6:63-64).

Saint Peter 30/33-64/68 Mother-in-law is mentioned in the Gospel verses Matthew 8:14-15, Luke 4:38, Mark 1:29-31 and who was healed by Jesus at her home in Capernaum. 1 Cor. 9:5 asks whether others have the right to be accompanied by Christian wives as does "Cephas" (Peter). Clement of Alexandria wrote: "When the blessed Peter saw his own wife led out to die, he rejoiced because of her summons and her return home, and called to her very encouragingly and comfortingly, addressing her by name, and saying, 'Remember the Lord.' Such was the marriage of the blessed, and their perfect disposition toward those dearest to them." He is the legislative, judicial and executive branch all combined into one covenantal authority. Only God has the authority to forgive sins.
----[1] While the Bible instructs us to forgive one another (Matt. 18:21-22; Col. 3:13, etc.), Peter reminds us of from where such authority comes - “in the name of Jesus” (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 10:43). God’s children may forgive others in the power of Christ’s name.

He didn't tell Peter he is building his church on him but what Peter said
      >>>>. Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.
Our Salvation Is Based On Jesus’ Work on the Cross
According to the Biblical doctrine of Salvation, Jesus’ work on the cross (His blood) purifies us from all sin. For this reason, there isn’t a lingering sin problem requiring the existence of a place like purgatory:

This is a funny statement, a play on St. John Henry Newman's famous words: "“To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant." {From his writing, "An Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine"). Strangely, during the Protestant Reformation (1520), reformers Calvin, Zwingli and Muntzer sanctioned the destruction of sacred catholic images in all churches. They and their followers were 'iconoclasts', even if their spiritual leader, Luther, apparently was not against sacred images per se.

The problem of Purgatory is quite obvious as is written in the Scripture.
Imagine I die one day and I was send to Purgatory for a year. After one year, I am happy that at last I have paid my due. When I reach Heaven, I was stop by God and unable to enter. Imagine what I would say to God? I would say, God, I already paid my due, you have no reason and authority to stop me from entering. I earn it! God already anticipated that. That's why we are never save by our own merits or our own suffering or our own hardwork. It's all about the Grace God freely given to us.
(For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.- Ephesians 2:8-9)

Since you claim there is no "purgatory " Then please explain where Jesus' Spirit went for the 3 days his body was dead? Sacred Scripture says ",, that he went and preached to the spirits who lay in prison. " ( 1 Peter 3:19) Where was this prison? was it in Heaven? If so why would there be a prison in Paradise? Was the prison in the Hell of the Damned? If so why would the damned need to hear the Gospel? .
as you say there is no "purgatory" then Jesus did not have to die on the cross. If Moses and Abraham and the rest of the OT Faithful were already in the presence of the Lord then Jesus did not have to die.
His death on the cross opened the narrow gate and the OT faithful passed through that narrow gate from the wilderness into the Promised land.
The OT Faithful that died waiting for the Messiah weren't in slavery in Egypt- the antetype of hell of the damned for they had been rescued but they weren't in the Promised land of heaven either. Jesus' death opened the narrow gate and fulfilled the Covenant. Please study the Hebrew thoughts of Sheol and the grave, and note that Sheol is NOT Gehenna. Gehenna is for the accursed and the Damned not Abraham or Moses.
The waiting in the spiritual wilderness is the best explanation of "purgatory" I can think of right now.
      Thanks for listening and remember Revelation 21 :17 & 1 Cor 3:15 especially verses 10-15. ----
the word hell means Hades or Sheol, the collective abode of the dead, divided into Paradise or Abraham's Bosom--the state of God-fearing souls--and Gehenna, the state of ungodly souls. Thus the descent into hell suggests that the Son of God carried the sins of the world to hell; or the Son of God carried Good News of deliverance to the godly dead such as Lazarus the beggar and the repentant thief.
Christ says in Matthew that, like Jonah, he would be in the belly of the earth for 3 days. Acts tells us Christ remained on earth for 40 days before He ascends. So there were 43 days BEFORE Christ went to Heaven. Did the good thief go ahead of the Lord to make sure the lights were on for His arrival? Or, more likely, Paradise that Christ mentions, is Abrahams Boosom. The place where the prisoners Christ preached to in 1st Peter were awaiting the Messiah

The Catholic Church never teaches that purgatory is a 'place'. It is a 'state' or 'condition' of the soul to be purified before entering Heaven, as nothing undefiled shall enter it. (Rev. 21:27) Besides, it is not measured in days or years or centuries or by time as we commonly understand it. It could be over in a twinkling of an eye. But always, by God's grace. Besides, St. Paul wrote that if our works built on the foundation he built does not survive on Judgment Day, we may suffer loss, although we may be saved still "but only as through fire" (1 Corinthians 3:10). This 'fire' could not be Hell, for why would we still be saved?

Well, faith and logic must come together, blind faith is false.
The first commercial printing press was invented in 1455AD, all books before that time were painstakingly hand copied word for word by scribes in "vellum", a parchment made from animal skins.
When you consider that an animal only has one skin, it is clear that the production of a Bible would require whole flocks of animals. - Considering it also took months to create one copy, its cost would be astronomical to priceless.
For more than 1,000 years (382AD to 1455AD), Catholic monks copied each bible for 15 months of hard labor. The church preserved and protected the bible for centuries.
Except for the clergy and the rich, common men were illiterate for more than 1500 years. It was not easy to be literate if all the books were in church and were in written in Latin. Scripture were heard in church and not read in the bible.
The Bible alone cannot determine the fate of Christianity, because the bible was not around men for most of Christian history.
The 66 version of the bible was created in 1535AD...1,000 years after the 73 book bible

T Wolak, first of all I don't deny what James says in his book that faith without works is dead, but sir that has nothing to do with salvation. You have a misplaced faith in thinking that you must have a zeal for good works. You are misconstruing what I've said. When I say faith alone I mean we are only saved for eternity through Jesus Christ's finished work and nothing else. Please don't take the Bible out of context and stop mixing faith with works. The finished work of Jesus is enough to save and none of our dead works. Ephesians 2:8-9 would do you very well before you read verse 10. Faith alone in Christ alone can't be mixed with human works no matter how good. Read Isaiah 64:6.

If wirksxste not necessary Why will Jesus condemn you to hell for having NOT done them. YOU CONTRADICT YOURSELF .
