I'm no expert either but that looks very nice. I think especially the older and more rural the carpentry, the more prominent the axe. Many years ago when at Russian living history museum, while standing outside a very intricate wooden church, the guide told us it was an old Russian proverb "Give a peasant an axe and he'll build you a church." That might have been regional, or just local to that museum's repair shop, since I've never heard it since, but I think expect it's very true.

Thanks for the new euphemism. Now I'm going to tell people I'm off to the garage to sand my handle. :P

Really nice job on that. All aspects. I like the more robust handle to get a better grip, more control. Absolutely beautiful blade. Even the sheath is beautiful, well done. Would love to own it.

When baking the Axe, you can put a cup of water into the oven so that the steel does not get too crispy.

I love watching these videos, but it always makes me think about why the smiths were talked about like big hulking galoots. I can’t help but feel my hands, wrists, forearms, shoulders, neck, biceps, triceps, latis, abs, flexors, etc screaming in agony with trying to hammer all that metal down and shape it into a useable tool

How much did it weight as a finished product, as a square stock it looked like 1.2 kg. What was it after forging and adding the bit?
