Nils, beautiful work as always! Thank you for sharing. As I don't have a power hammer, I especially enjoy watching your hand forging. I noticed clouds of dust whilst you shaped your hickory handle. Hard to get a good fit with a dust mask or respirator with a beard, but perhaps worth trying or perhaps dust evacuation or even a cross breeze would help?Hopefully some protection whilst forging and grinding the steel. In my other life I'm an anesthesiologist. Abrasives from the belts, fumes, even wood dust can cause serious lung problems long term.

Thank you for caring! Im going to order a new set of respirators today. Lazyness is a way i fall short. Its time to change that now!

"If you liked the video like the video!" This made me chuckle a bit ;) Nice axes you are making there. Is the pressforging causing more stresses in the material or do they relieve in the next heat circle anyways?
@ Hi Nil's, It looks to me as if using the the lower part of the Axe head would put a large bending force on the join between the shaft and the head's socket?
Nice work But your website mention : ''Private website''... How can I access to your products? Thank you Nils.

Hi Nils Mycket trevlig yxa! Just had an operation on my back so no forging for me for at least 6 weeks so watching everyone else until then! Any plans to make a copy of the 10th century Gotland cross axe? I have one made in rough just before my operation but can't finish it until I'm fit again. Maybe a few hours of tidying and tinkering then it should look okay. Quite pleased with it considering it's my 1st attempt at that style of axe. All the best👍

Thanks! Yeah that kind of axe would be awesome to make. Next one is going to be a special bearded axe, but after that the cross axe could be a fun project
@ Ok, i am norwegian. I wondered, what price you charge for making a bearded axe like you did for Skallagrim? That was amazing work. You make other things too? I want to start my own blacksmith some day.

@@olafeinarsson9658 jag kommer ha lite olika yxor tillgängliga när hemsidan släpps. Kommer förmodligen vara några skäggyxor där också!
I really enjoyed the video especially all the different dyes in your press in making your axe. Thanks for sharing and keep on forging.
Thank you very much!

Great! That way you'll be able to enjoy blacksmithing for many more years in good health!
U made that look waaaaayyyy to easy. Good job I like that .
The convex grind at the edge is nice
Yup I thought the same thing when I got my press!😂 huge learning curve on the press.
Looks great Nils!

I need a press like your's. Holy cow that thing is awesome. Beautiful work, sir!
Thank you, i like it alot!
@ Did you build it or buy it?
Could you forge a Hudson Bay pattern axe? A full size felling axe would be fun!
Well done! I saw you do some smart work.
Wow, vilken skönhet! Sån skulle man ha i sin vikingabar. 😍 Riktigt fin!

Is the pressforging causing more stresses in the material or do they relieve in the next heat circle anyways?
Any stress should be relieved by thermo cycling and tempering the axe at the end really
Yes i "Normalize" the axe before quenching, to relieve the stress.
Nice use of that press... Wonder how handy it would be for a sword
Beautiful, you have cracked it..
He did!!!!
Very nice axe!
Better send me that axe since you stamped my initials on it. SWE!
Beautiful to watch you making this Bearded Axe which I presume is a traditional shape but I'm curious as to why is it this shape?
Not sure I understand the question?
@ Hi Nil's, It looks to me as if using the the lower part of the Axe head would put a large bending force on the join between the shaft and the head's socket?
The one downvote was some one who can't forge.
The one dislike is from an angry dwarf because your craftsmanship outmatches his. You've made an axe truly worthy of the Æsir.
Thank you!
You do fine work Nils, I'd like to see you and Tord do a collaboration one day
I love you channel and your work! New sub!
Thank you, and welcome!
Nice tattoo, love the axe
Looks nice
Nice job
Thank you!
Nils, I love what you are doing on your channel. Are you selling any of your axes?
Yes! I am setting up a web store at the moment. Follow me on my instagram for updates
Oh man I want one of these bad boys
What steel did you used?
Parabéns, muito lindo
Nice!
Him: (Puts axe in oven)

Did you use a single material for the blade? It looks like you use only one single material.
Thats correct
@ ... thanks. It looks like mild steel. I wonder if it can hold an edge.
Its not mild steel. Its c45. Steel tends to like one another.
@ ... ok noted. Thanks.
I can't access your webpage. I wanted to look at it. You sell axes now?
Its under construction, while i make it into a webstore

50 ton press?
20
When I try to head to your website, it wants me to enter a password. Why is that?
Its under construction. Im making it into a webstore, it will launch in november!
Yo man, just starting the vid, ty for the upload !
