I just picked up a E63 and I have to do the same thing to it, usually I like to make videos of stuff like this but I honestly couldn’t have done it better myself. Thanks for the informative and easy to watch video
Really appreciate your work! As a E63 owner, your work is sooooooooo appreciated. I'll let you know how I get on when I do the same repair on both sides (the RHS is the leaky one).
I love that youve gone thru and made these videos! its been incredibly helpful! looking forward to the brakes! (mine are down to metal so shes parked for a bit lol)
In terms of valve covers/gaskets, that has to be 8.5 on the 1-10 PIA/difficulty scale. It’s almost as if the engine is handmade by Germans? I’m a Bimmer man and have owned five, but even for Mercedes/AMG this is a chore. But, how glorious are they when they are sorted? Two banks of cylinders just doubles the effort, I guess. I’m used to a nice inline of 6. Even coil packs and spark plugs are easy (relatively) on non-M BMW, except that little guy against the fire wall. That’s not why we buy these vehicles. We buy them for the gloriousness only they can provide. Love the videos. From detailing to basic service to proper repairs.
Thanks for leaving comment and watching the channel! 👍🏽 I had a 2009 550i with the M package. Loved it!!! I’m thinking about getting an e30…if I can find one reasonably priced 😆
Great Tutorial! Question - My 2007 E63 has a cracked Aluminum cover and I want to replace with the black plastic one. Is the valve cover gasket you used to replace (1590160221) compatible with only plastic covers?

What’s that little part called ? Right next to the weld with the plug on top?
What brand red paint you use?
Hey man nice work, Shouldn't this model comes with Aluminum valve covers?. my 2010 does
Thanks for watching and commenting! No, 2011+ m156 engines came with the black plastic valve covers.
Is it relatively the same process for driver's side?
Yep 👍🏽. Driver side may be a little tighter though…
Great video!
Thanks! I appreciate it
so helpful when i actually get a car 💀👍🏼
Thanks for the tutorial, that was exactly what I was looking for. But, the black plastic valve covers get 8.5 Nm NOT 10 Nm. You overtorqued them.
