  • The "Winslow House" was torn down in 2017 (booooo 😒👎) but they did install a plaque(?) that says "Family Matters" in a font similar to that of the letters in the opening theme.
We were SO elated to realize the house nextdoor is still there.. Which was STEVE URKEL'S HOUSE, according to the schematics and references from the show! 💕 This was super cool.

They layout of this house made no sense compared to what we saw on TV.. From the street, the front door is clearly on the left hand side of the house.. But on TV, in the living room, the door is on the right, with the fire place and stair case were to the left of the front door.?! Maybe I'm just over thinking this one.. Lol..

re you talking about the Winslow house or the Urkel house?
The Winslow house is no longer there. It was sold, knocked down, and this building was put up in its place. The brown house (we believe) is the front on Steve Urkel's house based on how they were neighbors and how the back garages of the two houses met on the show.

Ooooh. You know what? I just reread this comment and I get what you're saying.
Yes that house was just a weird format all together. It's so funny that not many people question it. We just watch the show like everybody's house is backwards. 😄

The house has a basement but we didn't go inside. I didn't notice any scrap teleportation pad parts laying around either.

I don't know all of the details, but I do remember seeing an advertisement and announcement that if enough people got money together they could save the house and buy that property before it went to a developer. Then I didn't hear anything for at least a year and a half and then I saw a petition to try and keep the person who purchased it from tearing it down and building apartments.
So it would seem that would happen was the community of people who wanted to preserve the house did not get up enough money to purchase it and the land.
