Eleven years old and Angelina is more technically accomplished that most adult vocalists are or will be.
You are so correct. The amazing thing is, it's a natural gift. You can't teach and you can't learn what Angelina does. It's truly a blessing, to her and for us.
That ending with her singing "Your face" repeated 4 times, gets me every time. This is one of her most beautiful, emotional songs ever & the fact that she is 11 yo reading the lyrics & singing it on the fly for the 1st time is just unbelievable. I'm so glad Sara didn't make her change the "adult" lyrics on this one. Beautiful reaction Adrianna.

I don't understand how at the age of 11? 12? she had the ability to tap in to THAT emotional well. I mean, her voice is one thing, but her ability to evoke an emotional response in the listener is astounding. AJ reminds us what is good about being human!

This song was written by Ewan MacColl in 1957 as a love song for Peggy Seeger who he later married. He performed it at every event when touring the UK. The song was recorded and performed by many Artists but it only made it big when Roberta Flack recorded it in 1972. Roberta Flack won a Grammy for this song as well as for the record of the year. The song also was number one on the HOT 100 single of the year chart. Peggy also performed it numerous times.

I knew Roberta Flack’s version was a cover but I didn’t realize the song was originally from the 50’s.
Roberta’s version was featured in a scene in Clint Eastwood’s film Play Misty For Me.

It still 👀 amazes me to hear Angelina treat us to such a flawless breath taking performance while she is sitting and reading the lyrics from her cell phone. I have a hard enough time focusing on doing one thing at a time. I see this performance and say to myself, Angelina is multitasking and yet, if I closed my eyes I would think that she has sung this song many times.

Yes, Angelina keeps getting better and better. The emotional expression was always there, it's just there are so many ways of expressing it, along with ever maturing vocal ability. Recordings like this were usually filed by grandma, lyrics from her phone, one take.
I think that grandma was rather overwhelmed by this particular rendition - the rather adult story told with such conviction - perhaps that's why there was the shy smile at the end...

I don't know who suggested this one to you, but I know that it may very well have been me, as this is one of my favorite performances by her, despite the fact that she messed up the order of the verses...LOL Like you said, her age versus her sound just won't compute. She was young 11 in this one. Completely crazy tbh. She looked almost a little shy in the end there, as if she all of a sudden realized the emotional performance she'd just done, but I think that her look and behavior was due to the fact that she had mixed the song up a bit. But if you didn't know, you'd not be able to tell in a million years.

The guitar was a little hot, slightly overshadowing her voice at times. But it may be more apparent in the recording than live. Wow, those notes being held so long adds so much emotion and style to the song. Really glad to see you again Adrianna, you've been missed. Good reaction.
I kind of agree about the guitar. I don’t care for his guitar tone as much. I prefer Ivan’s softer guitar sound. I think it blends a little better with Angelina’s voice.
