    The disrespect it takes to call the Australian flag a "symbol of the far right" on the news ON Australia Day.... is insane.

      come on no it isn't, I live in downtown Toronto, (lefty central) and on Canada Day there are lots of flags, t shirts, and hats celebrating this great country (I usually break out an red and white outfit)...
      We should celebrate what's great about our countries even as we acknowledge the lessons of history and that it's not ALL great all the time.

    University "indocrinated" types I think you meant to say. And stores were told to undermine the day, by not selling Australia day goods. They changed their mind this year, due to public pressure.
    Im not sure why anyone would take a flag to the beach btw lol

    Well, I’m Australian, born and raised here. I respect the flag but I will never ever wave it.
    Our national flag just represents imperialism to me. The same imperialism that got my family here.
    Also Australia Day represents the bloodiest parts of our history and the beginning of so much pain on this continent of ours. Yet so many expect the aboriginals to shut up, load up a barbie, and celebrate?!
    Nah, they have every right to be angry over that day, the aboriginals call it ‘invasion day’. I happen to agree with that reframe of the day.
    Also Australian nationalism is rooted in conservatism, most young people like me, are not conservative.

    Also as a side note. When talking about Israel/Palestine. It would be nice if you spoke with Palestinians about the issue.
    Instead you’re a pro-Israel commentator on these issues.
    Bro if I want pro-Israel news, I would switch on 7 News and let my brain rot.
    But I won’t.

      Have a bad day.

    • @davidk2471
      @davidk2471 8 дней назад

      If you favour Palestinians you should consider not falling for the lies they have promulgated over 80 years. Israel, like Canada (I can't speak to Australia's example), has gone through a reckoning regarding the wrongs committed during its founding, one that is ongoing since the New Historians of the 1980s. Palestinians have no such introspection or self-criticism. You can talk to them 'til you're blue in the face, it's one message played on infinite repeat, and it's not a message of peace.
