    Fun fact the chivalric Order of the Dragon is where Dracula gets his name.
    Vlad the Impaler's father was part of the Order and was nicknamed Vlad Dracul (Vlad the Dragon). So when his son came to power he was known as Vlad "Son of the Dragon" or "of the Dragon", hence Vlad Dracula 🧛‍♂️

    I think the variant civs can be summed up in one sentence. Bear in mind, this is the abridged version, so I still advise you to check them out for yourselves if possible.
    Jeanne D'Arc - You want to be a hero (unit).
    Ayyubids - You like eco bonuses, but you also want a bit more strength to your military punch.
    Zhu Xi's Legacy - You want resources, and lots of them, and Shaolin Monks too.
    Order of the Dragon - You want the best things money can buy.

  • @Darksiege357

    Order of the Dragoon reminds me a lot of Nova from SC2 Coop. She had 100 max population but had elite units that were slow to get started but much stronger
    I wont be surprised if OotD has a lower population cap or each house only contributes 2 max pop or something

    • @Jimboquacks
      @Jimboquacks 11 месяцев назад +2

      I would probably predict the former. Or at the most each unit is 2 pop. Malians houses only give 5 pop. 2 pop per house would be ridiculous.

    • @franciscomelendeze

      Nova is one of my favorite commanders in sc2.

    • @AtticusKarpenter
      @AtticusKarpenter 3 месяца назад

      @@franciscomelendeze Same! Quality over quantity is naturally enjoyable shift in rts, but commanders like Tychus take this too far, they are not elite soldiers but superheroes with anime powers, harder to immerse
      Nova's Black Ops operatives on the other hand is exactly hardened, elite soldiers, not immortal, easily overwhelmed when below critical mass (even if this mass is pretty low for any given number of opponents), but otherwise they grind army after army by sheer firepower and covering each other's weaknesses in combine arms combat.
      Before nerf that disallow Nova to research damage and armor upgrades twice fast and cheap by such perc (they soon make it affect all other upgrades besides weapon and armor) i cleared Dead of Night (zombie defence) map in couple of cycles by marines not stopping even in night time (on max difficulty, and i'm not a gosu level player in general), earned praise of the teammate, that was very fun

    I feel that Order of the Dragon will be my new main civ! I love straightforward civs and prefer to focus on microig units more than on the macro civ strategy. Less but stronger units are even more comfortable to me because since I like early-mid fights, a late game with 100+ units is a bit overwhelming to me.

  • @ned8896
    @ned8896 11 месяцев назад +1

    3:40 Hard disagree here. HRE is already an easy enough civ to play. A variant should differ from it's parent in order for it to feel more unqiue as a whole. By giving OoTD the simple to play treatment, it will nullify any sort of new unique units or changes for that civ in the future. Because every single time that topic will be brought up upon, people will reply with "Because it's the easiest civ to play, more unique units would make it hard for new players" or something along with that.
    I did not expect the devs create any new unique units to HRE or the OoTD and I'm still disappointed that it was all just a reskin and hard coded stat changes, except for the cavalrys charge attack ability which is the french knights charge attack ability, but for defense. I would love it if they actually get some unique units, but I highly doubt it will happen.

    • @franciscomelendeze
      @franciscomelendeze 11 месяцев назад

      I don't agree, you need to be good at defending and in lower levels it is easier to be the attacker than the defender. Also you want to go to castle age as soon as possible and lower Elo players may lose to feudal aggression, which is the meta right now.

  • @anyany2021
    @anyany2021 11 месяцев назад +1

    I'm feeling the Order of the Dragon. I would rather have a smaller army of stronger specialized units vs. a mass of cannon fodder. In regard to the comment about population efficiency and OotD being broken late game, what the devs will probably do something similar to Starcraft: either make each elite unit use much more supply (so instead of 1 supply per unit it's 4) or they will cut the total supply for OotD by half (so instead of 200 max pop it will be 100). Either one of those seems to be the most likely scenario because if they don't, OotD will be the most powerful civ in AOE late game hands down. They will be virtually unstoppable.

    Brilliant stuff as always Noob.
    Might be in the minority here but I find these variant civs *very* disappointing, and not even because of the recycled assets (which I don't personally have a problem with) -- there was a lot of potential to do some great stuff with this concept, but between (in my opinion) lazy designs and laughable history it really feels like they were last minute additions to pad out the roster and make this expansion feel more full than it is.

      Do you mean like it would've been better to have a brand new fleshed-out civ centred around this mechanic rather than to be part of the variant civs? If so I kinda agree but I also much prefer getting more bang for my buck in this DLC and more variation of civs sooner rather than later, instead of waiting another who knows how long for a complete new thing in a 2 civ DLC I won't buy. Right now this is all a gain to us, you never know if they would've done these without the benefit of being less of a workload and time sink. The main weakness I see is they would be prime for rushing. High cost units will always have a slow start.

    • @amadeusbender3417
      @amadeusbender3417 11 месяцев назад +1

      And they will get easily outnumbered. Which will be a problem on open maps because they can not be at to spots at the same time. E.g. attacking the enemy base and defending their own base when the enemy is harassing them.

      @@amadeusbender3417 I can see this civ being great in team games of 3 and 4. And if they are in a relatively safe spot between their teammates for help.

    finaly someone who brings in lanchesters law. i think, this will be one of its biggest weaknesses. tougher villagers dose not mean that they are harder to raid, ther vills will mostlikely also cost more and train longer then normal villager, so every vill you kill or idel will be an even bigger punsh to there eco then it normaly would be the case.
    overall this variant is the most boring one. Its litterly just bigger numbers and beside smaller unit numbers it will not play much diffrent from the original. Beasty said in hes video, that there landmarks still the same for the most part. Aachen will be an eco landmark, even without the boosting aura from prelats, meinwerk will be a blacksmith, problably with diffrent unique techs and so on.
    This is not how you should aproach a variant civ, Ayubbids and Zhu Xi are much better in desinge and idea then this.

    They look amazingly fun to me.
    I love impressively powerful and intimdating looking units who can take on enemies easily when outnumbered.
    That's why I love the Delhi elephants so much. They wreck havok among puny enemy troops.
    Let's see if the Elite troops of the Order of the Dragon can rival them in that regard.
    Super hypred for the DLC, already preordered.
    PS: as always it is Age of noob video that gives us the best picture of the new civ.

      Relic Entertainment obviously does not follow the World's Edge and Forgotten Empires formula, given the former's broad know-how, ups and downs. AoE4 is already a different beast compared the previous 3 AoE games (especially 2 DE) the moment MS commissioned and put faith on Relic.
      I can also foresee this game collaborating with Conqueror's Blade or Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord.
