Hello To all our Great friends and subscribers Our Method of Fixing loose staircase railing Works like a CHARM and the best part is you can do it yourself. It will be stronger than any other method! Mr Know it All from another Handyman here's some advice for the screws, everyone needs to get a cordless impact driver, they are much easier to use for running in screws and do not jump out and strip off screw heads like the drills do.
Thanks redneck hillbilly the worst part of this MOX nix set up is that the screwheads were already stripped out but I’m with you on the impact drivers thanks much for being here with us guru Mike
Well my friend, construction adhesive is one of those glues that once you put it on, you will rip the wood apart before you ever get the glued area apart. That's what you want in this process due to the fact that the handrail is grabbed all the time and wood glue would easily shake apart. Hope this helps, thanks for the view, have a great week. Guru Mike & team
"That stiffened it up pretty good"...... that's what she said 🤣😊 But a mox nix? I'd say It does matter or it is important! And now it is sturdy and strong like bull!
LOL! Thanks for the laugh and view Leonard, it's getting stronger by the second as the glue really dries and hardens. Have a great week buddy. Guru Mike
That tape on the bracket is a new one for me. But yeah definitely don't want a railing that wiggles like that. Looks like the previous owner decided that putting screws all around was the way to go, instead of putting what would work. And yeah those two on the side were definitely macht nichts, as my great grandmother would say. I liked the sanding, because even if you decided to go with stain and varnish, that's half the work done for you anyway 😅
Mox nix, "It's of no importance" but Mr. Know it Y'all, you are VERY IMPORTANT!!!😂especially Hoolio and Consuelo too!😁.. Now the truth Mr. Guru, you're getting ready to attach your stair chair👴to that railing😜you have been moving kinda slow here lately...😯jk buddy😉, you did a great job on that post! Until next time, let's keep most of America 🇺🇸 Free and pray for our great country, God Bless y'all, God Bless 45! Jay 🕊🕊🕊
LOL, Consuelo joked about getting the stair chair for me as well :) HAHA! Thank you for always being here with us, we truly appreciate it brother. We are always praying for our great country, it's getting to be unrecognizable. God bless you my friend and yes to 45/47 :) !! Guru Mike
I think most of us know what to do. But when you do things like tape on the bracket. For small pieces could you show a still close up. Of what the end result should look like?
Absolutely! I don't wait around to have anyone do anything for me, I figure it out and get it done! Thank you for watching, have a great week my friend. Guru Mike & team
LOL, that's a perfect definition Kris! :) Thank you for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it, hope you have a fantastic week my friend. Guru Mike
Come on Mike couldn't you tape a makeshift shelf underneath the drill area to catch all the shavings before it went on the carpet?? Maybe a piece of painters tape and cardboard.
@@MrKnowItAllGuru No wonder my projects all seem to go south. I know what it’s suppose to look like in my mind when it’s done But by the time the idea gets from my shoulders to my fingers. It’s pretty much Mox nix. Isn’t that Latin for Horse Shit ? I’d like to know half of what mechanics like you forgot.
Please watch and listen to the entire video in it's entirety and you will hear that the cheap, junk screws were already busted off and the heads were stripped out, there was no getting them out, as stated in the video. Thanks stock footages, hope you have a great day. Guru Mike
Without matter or care, however you want to say it, this handrail was repaired in that manner Victor :) LOL, thank you for watching and commenting, we truly appreciate our great subscribers like you, have a great week my friend. Guru Mike
How many tools does it take to complete a job? Answer... All of them. The worst customers to work for a You Tube pilots. I recently did a job for a customer who constantly looked over my shoulder and said. "On You Tube" they did it this way and that way.
@@MrKnowItAllGuru You have a good one too! I had only heard this expression 3 times while I was stationed over in Germany, although just in the context of the way it was said; I knew what it was for sure!

Thanks for the video! I was going to do something similar and I'm wondering if there was a reason you used construction adhesive instead of wood glue?

How are you ensuring that you're not drilling through dowel when you come from the opposite side to make your hole for the one on the opposite side?
Well, you just need to pay attention to where you're drilling, drill the other hole not in line with the previous hole. Thanks. Guru Mike & team
Come on Mike couldn't you tape a makeshift shelf underneath the drill area to catch all the shavings before it went on the carpet?? Maybe a piece of painters tape and cardboard.
