There are gachas that give you a token for each pull, and at like 200 you get the guaranteed character of your choice from any of the banners, even if you got like multiple copies of it or other character It's basically a guaranteed pull for anything you want

You talking about your biggest issue with Genshin's gacha system being not getting 4 stars while spending 300 dollars on a single character will never be not funny
Well you don't have to spend 300 dollars to get a 5*, you do however need to interact with the stupid 4* banner mechanics to get a 4* you like. Top Up is pay to lose anyway unless you are a severe whale that doesnt care about losing money and will go for high tier cons. The average players account isnt gonna get much better from spending "just" 300$.
20 minutes??? What were ya doing? Walking directly from Fontaine to Natlan? It only takes about 3 minutes to talk to Furina, Navia, Charlotte, and Clorinde And maybe another 5-7 to talk to Kachina before you get her

(Actually no, it was quite unlikely lol, which was the point of the video-proceed as normal for deciding to wish for a character or not because even $300 is highly unlikely to trigger this new mechanic)
I got Mualani with 60 pity and secured, then I threw 5 wishes at the weapon banner and I got Kazuha's weapon, I threw a multy at his banner and I got Mona which I didn't have, I rolled one more wish and I got him . In the end I chose Tignari which I didn't have either. How was so lucky that I want to cry from happiness.
pretty similar, I got mualani with 13 pity, threw a 10 pull and got kazuhas weapon at 19 pity, then I picked tighnari. I already have kazuha though so I'm going to finish the weapon banner to get mualani weapon

I love the way you framed the weapon banner changes. Very true that unless you save enough to guarantee (which is lower now) it's exactly the same experience as before. And I strongly suspect you're right that most people don't save enough for guarantee and are using spares after character banner.
I feel a little better watching this knowing we had almost the same luck. I'm a new player, I saved up for 2 weeks and spent $50 on top-ups, had 160 pulls total, and lost 50/50 to tighnari, went c6 on Xinyan, pulled 0 Bennetts, got C2 Kachina and the guaranteed Mualani, so I'm pretty disappointed. Sorry your luck was crummy as well boss 😢

Not really gonna use him unless I need to due to shitty weapon selection on the acc that doesn't have enough base atk or something like that. I like the game but really dislike gacha and have also lost on 3/3 banners just to rub it in so to think I could have double the amount of 5 star characters I like is insane. But yeah, this all is why I'm not spending my money on the game

It took me 64 pulls to get Kachina, it took me 70 pulls to get Sethos and I didn't get Chevreuse on her banner (lucked out on standard). New 4* drop rates are awful these days. But I did win Mualani :) I c6ed Diona, Yun Jin, Sara and Gorou on their very first banners just going to the featured 5* once, so I swear new 4* drops have gotten way worse.
Even though on the banner it says "up" 😂 my luck must be seriously down because I kept getting the guitar lady xianyan? Was it.. I already have c6 and I don't use her.
On your yapping of the weapon banner - before the fate change, i typically would only summon on it if I was okay with getting either weapon and didn't already have either of them. Made the odds of getting a useless dupe much smaller.

Lol you're right about why I pulled on the weapon banner this time. I lost the 50/50 to Jean but then got Mualani within the next 20 pulls and had spare wishes so thought eh, I'll chance it to try and get her weapon. WOW my luck was amazing this time! I got her weapon in less than 20 pulls too - stark contrast to the 200+ fates I had to use for Alecchino's weapon after losing to Lyney's twice first (THE PAIN!) The polearm only acc is a fun idea
Just a thought. So it's impossible to get Capturing Radiance on Guarantee. But let's say on the slim chance of a double 5* on a guarantee. 1st obviously guaranteed. But what if you trigger Capturing Radiance on the 2nd 5*. Would it still show the animation? Or would it skip it.. 🤔
i got ridiculously lucky on this banner 😭 finally got my benny c6, c5 kachina, c1r1 mualani, and c0r1 kazuha and everything was early. and i triggered capturing radiance which made me actually scream 😭 i fear ive used up all my luck tho LMFAO
Since inuzuma the chances felt like 35/100 and in sumeru it felt more like 25/100 on the charecter pulls. So with that new mechanic on wish it will increase to 30/100.
I got my ketchina in the third pull and my mualani on the 5th pull i think, i had 7 wishes, pity 20, started playing last week lucky me i guess cause i now need to go to natlan to get mats LMAO
According to the updated guide on how many wishes it takes to wish for a character (if you're curious, it's a reddit post by u/Dologue made on August 21, 2024 that calculated everything), you had a little less than 85% chance of getting Mualani with the paid crystals. 10 more would grant 99% chance. It's actually a pretty neat tool to use for those saving and/or spending to get wishes.
Yep, I knew there was a decent chance of not getting Mualani with the paid gems, and I was okay with the possibility since I want these videos to show the swings of rng variance and how even when you get lucky topups arent a ton of value for the money
@@motomamixo No no, the reason for those numbers has to do with how "soft pity" works in Genshin (on top of the base 0.6% rate for five stars). If you are interested, heres a simplified explanation for why that is: Soft pity is where there is a significantly increased chance for getting a five star (this is why its extremely unlikely to go to 90 pity). So soft pity starts at 74 wishes with at about a 5% chance to get a five star on 74. If you dont get it on 74, it increases your chance in each subsequent wish by set amounts (iirc 6.something% increase each wish after 74 but the exact amount isnt important to explain this). So the simple explanation of soft pity is that at wish 74 you have a 5% chance, then wish 75 is 10%, 76 is 15%, and so on (again not exact numbers). Since I had 151 wishes from the topups and was at 0 pity, I had enough to get INTO soft pity twice, but only if I got a five star early into soft pity (eg at wish 74 or 75, which has a much lower chance for a five star). Thats why theres such a stark difference from the extra ten wishes. The extra ten wishs is enough for getting to 80 pity twice, and because of the ever increasing chance of getting a five star into soft pity its very likely to get a five star at or before 80 pity vs the chance to get one at or before 75. What happened for me was I got Mona at 80 pity exactly, which left me with 71 pulls left from the $300 of topups. 71 wasnt enough to even get into soft pity the second time because I didnt get the first five star at 75 or before, and hence necessitated the final ten pull I did which went up to 81 pity (and I believe I got my guaranteed Mualani at 77 pity).

Something funny I realized from the math you showed is that 150 wishes had about a 15% chance of not getting me Mualani, and it also had about a 15% chance of triggering the Capturing Radiance mechanic! So in a weird way I was lucky to show one slightly unlikely 15% chance occurance happening to show the inverse side of the gacha lol
about the weapon banner, as a midspender/dolphin? it makes a lot of difference, saving for a desired weapon is more realistic now. instead of saving for 240 fates (it takes me around 2-3 patches with welkin and casual playing everyday) now it's just 160, it cuts one patch of saving
there was a post somewhere saying it triggers after you lose 50 50 like twice in a row basically: lose 50 50 > guarantee > lose 50 50 > 75% chance to trigger radiance but if you lose then > guarantee > 100% chance to trigger radiance
I got her on my first 10 pull on her banner at around 70 pity. She's fun to have to explore Natlan, you can basically surf on any terrain so you can go faster.
9:04 I'm not sure for guarantees but I've seen someone getting capturing radiance but their first 5* was a standard character so something a bit like this: 10 pulls: 1- x 2- x 3- Standard character (5050 loss) 4- x 5- x 6- Mualani (guarantee) 7- x 8- x 9- Mualani (capturing radiance) 10- x Essentially what I understood from that clip, you can get capturing radiance which could mean more than a single 5* if the first 5* in that multi wasn't the rate-up character lol. But perhaps it means that it could just activate for each individual pull instead of each multi or something, I don't know if that makes sense.
Speaking of 4 star luck… in HSR, after 120 pulls (over the course of 2 banners) I STILL haven’t got this certain 4 star character! (We don’t speak her name)
I had a similar issue with Candace where Genshin absolutely refused to give me her. I was excited to see her on Navia's banner, since I didn't have her. Unfortunately, I ended up losing Navia's 50/50 and had to spend 160 pulls to get her. Not a single one of these pulls included Candace despite her being a featured character. I ended up getting her on Navia's weapon banner, but I was already so annoyed by that point.
16:54 bc they are slowly revealing that all of their games share a multiverse another example is Welt, a Hi3 character literally coming to the universe of HSR as a playable character and the story of how. or Dvalin/Stormterror appearing in HSR amd how they present that. The devs confirmed it was him as well the rabbit hole goes deep and will continue to grow mark my words, there will he a huge crossover event far off in the future
I think that like 1/3 of the 5* characters or weapons that I get are usually while I'm doing some random single wish and I skip the animation, and this video just made me realize that even if I actually ever get this effect, I might not even know it... XD
The first time I pulled on the weapon banner it went exactly as you described. I was guaranteed Ayaka and spent 45 for the wishes to get her because she's my favorite character then got her a little early. Since I had already spent some money and had wishes leftover I decided to take a chance for her weapon. I got it on the first 10 pull!
I will be pulling on Mualani's banner for Kachina cons on the rollover day and this video is going to be here to inoculate me against the psychic damage of the 4* gacha
Yeah, the RNG when it comes to 4 star characters can be ass a metric fuck ton of the time. Back during Lantern Rite I pulled about as many times as you did in this video trying to get just a single Gaming but ended up with 4 Noelles (of which I did want 2 of those to C6 her) and 6 Faruzan which took her from C0 to C6 (which in hindsight was pretty awesome but at the time annoyed me to no end) and absolutely 0 Gamings... Hell I even got Nahida and then lost a 50/50 on Xianyun and got Qiqi instead. I wouldn't get Gaming until the standard banner came in clutch like 4 months later. And before someone asks why I didn't just pick him during Lantern Rite, I couldn't because I still didn't have Xingqiu who had also managed to allude me after dozens of ten pulls towards banners he was on.
man would it kill hoyo to add like a special toggle where you can choose the 4 star and they give it a boost over the other 2 4 stars in the banner? like when you get a 4 star, it has a 60% chance to be the one that you wanted of the featured ones?? but i guess it would cut into all the money they make in making it so hard to get 4 stars, especially as the 4 star pool increases
Honestly, this is a great video to show a new player, especially a new gacha game player, how the "luck" really goes and how hundreds of dollars spent doesn't guarantee anything.

I'm happy I got Mualani even if I was disappointed I found out that Kachina also has the locator skill and that's part of why I got her, but I can also run Vape Nilou on my C3 Nilou I got in 110 pulls (I was just aiming for cons on all the 4 stars and I ended up walking away with more Nilous than Kirara + Ningguang combined, and a Dehya for good measure lol), and I got double Mualani in the 10 pull I got her at like 90 summons (I was pity broken by Jean at around 20 which I'm not upset about at all).
Started with a guarantee & 18 pity, 58 more wishes in I have Mualani & C3 Kachina so I take that as a win. Now to unlock the full map & start the grind...
I had 70 wishes 0 pity spent them all got a few much needed bennet cons but hope I get the new mechanic so next five star is guaranteed so I can save for furina reliably don’t mind if I get Mulani tbh cuz I was mainly going for bennet cons

as far as i understand, radience works like this: you have a 5050 to win. you cant trigger it during your first pulls even if you lost a 5050 before 5.0. if you lose the 5050, you get a guarrantee next time. you get the guarrantee, and then you have another 5050 to win, but this time its a 5545. you lose that, get another guarrantee, and then next 5050 its actually a 7525 and so on and so forth until you lose enough 5050s to guarrantee a 5star even though its not technically a 5050 (50% to win, 50% to trigger radience)
Wait. Even on a guaranteed you might still see the animation. If you get a double 5 star there’s a chance you still lose the 50/50 after you get your guarantee and then the animation kicks in.
Hard agree with the 4* drops. I had a well over 150 wishes saved (f2p) for Kaveh's first banner (Baizhu and Ganyu), I bagged Baizhu and Ganyu but I came home with 1 Kaveh. It was stupid. 😭 I only got a single copy when I kept grinding after I used up all 150 wishes. I was so sad. 💀
Let me share my pain in pulling for 4*s, or at least one 4* in particular: Kaveh. On his debut banner, I got Baizhu, Mona, Ganyu, and another Ganyu before I saw even one Kaveh. I actually regret it, because I didn’t want c1 Ganyu. If it had occurred to me that I might get a FOURTH 5*, I would have switched back to Baizhu’s banner instead. Then came Nilou’s banner, and with it Kaveh’s first rerun. I wasn’t even going to pull for Nilou. I was on the fence about her. But Kaveh was on the banner, and I wanted revenge. I got three Kavehs alongside Tighnari and Nilou. All in all, I got four copies of the 4* I wanted in the same number of pulls as it took me to get six 5*s. It’s absurd. I don’t whale in this game. At all. I’ve never topped up. Which means every pull counts. So not getting the 4* I want really hurts. Kaveh isn’t even good…

I love the way you framed the weapon banner changes. Very true that unless you save enough to guarantee (which is lower now) it's exactly the same experience as before. And I strongly suspect you're right that most people don't save enough for guarantee and are using spares after character banner.

I feel a little better watching this knowing we had almost the same luck. I'm a new player, I saved up for 2 weeks and spent $50 on top-ups, had 160 pulls total, and lost 50/50 to tighnari, went c6 on Xinyan, pulled 0 Bennetts, got C2 Kachina and the guaranteed Mualani, so I'm pretty disappointed. Sorry your luck was crummy as well boss 😢
My luck started off really poorly too and now I’ve won 4 50s in a row. It will all balance out
I had 116 fates as F2P. I lost to Qiqi (C1) on the Kazuha banner and it took all the fates to get C1 Bennett.
Bennett is still the best unit in the game, so I take that as a W

Not really gonna use him unless I need to due to shitty weapon selection on the acc that doesn't have enough base atk or something like that. I like the game but really dislike gacha and have also lost on 3/3 banners just to rub it in so to think I could have double the amount of 5 star characters I like is insane. But yeah, this all is why I'm not spending my money on the game

It took me 64 pulls to get Kachina, it took me 70 pulls to get Sethos and I didn't get Chevreuse on her banner (lucked out on standard). New 4* drop rates are awful these days. But I did win Mualani :)
I c6ed Diona, Yun Jin, Sara and Gorou on their very first banners just going to the featured 5* once, so I swear new 4* drops have gotten way worse.

On your yapping of the weapon banner - before the fate change, i typically would only summon on it if I was okay with getting either weapon and didn't already have either of them. Made the odds of getting a useless dupe much smaller.

Lol you're right about why I pulled on the weapon banner this time. I lost the 50/50 to Jean but then got Mualani within the next 20 pulls and had spare wishes so thought eh, I'll chance it to try and get her weapon. WOW my luck was amazing this time! I got her weapon in less than 20 pulls too - stark contrast to the 200+ fates I had to use for Alecchino's weapon after losing to Lyney's twice first (THE PAIN!)

Since inuzuma the chances felt like 35/100 and in sumeru it felt more like 25/100 on the charecter pulls. So with that new mechanic on wish it will increase to 30/100.

According to the updated guide on how many wishes it takes to wish for a character (if you're curious, it's a reddit post by u/Dologue made on August 21, 2024 that calculated everything), you had a little less than 85% chance of getting Mualani with the paid crystals. 10 more would grant 99% chance. It's actually a pretty neat tool to use for those saving and/or spending to get wishes.
Yep, I knew there was a decent chance of not getting Mualani with the paid gems, and I was okay with the possibility since I want these videos to show the swings of rng variance and how even when you get lucky topups arent a ton of value for the money

@@motomamixo No no, the reason for those numbers has to do with how "soft pity" works in Genshin (on top of the base 0.6% rate for five stars).
If you are interested, heres a simplified explanation for why that is:
Soft pity is where there is a significantly increased chance for getting a five star (this is why its extremely unlikely to go to 90 pity). So soft pity starts at 74 wishes with at about a 5% chance to get a five star on 74. If you dont get it on 74, it increases your chance in each subsequent wish by set amounts (iirc 6.something% increase each wish after 74 but the exact amount isnt important to explain this). So the simple explanation of soft pity is that at wish 74 you have a 5% chance, then wish 75 is 10%, 76 is 15%, and so on (again not exact numbers).
Since I had 151 wishes from the topups and was at 0 pity, I had enough to get INTO soft pity twice, but only if I got a five star early into soft pity (eg at wish 74 or 75, which has a much lower chance for a five star). Thats why theres such a stark difference from the extra ten wishes. The extra ten wishs is enough for getting to 80 pity twice, and because of the ever increasing chance of getting a five star into soft pity its very likely to get a five star at or before 80 pity vs the chance to get one at or before 75. What happened for me was I got Mona at 80 pity exactly, which left me with 71 pulls left from the $300 of topups. 71 wasnt enough to even get into soft pity the second time because I didnt get the first five star at 75 or before, and hence necessitated the final ten pull I did which went up to 81 pity (and I believe I got my guaranteed Mualani at 77 pity).

Something funny I realized from the math you showed is that 150 wishes had about a 15% chance of not getting me Mualani, and it also had about a 15% chance of triggering the Capturing Radiance mechanic! So in a weird way I was lucky to show one slightly unlikely 15% chance occurance happening to show the inverse side of the gacha lol
about the weapon banner, as a midspender/dolphin? it makes a lot of difference, saving for a desired weapon is more realistic now. instead of saving for 240 fates (it takes me around 2-3 patches with welkin and casual playing everyday) now it's just 160, it cuts one patch of saving

there was a post somewhere saying it triggers after you lose 50 50 like twice in a row basically:
lose 50 50 > guarantee > lose 50 50 > 75% chance to trigger radiance but if you lose then > guarantee > 100% chance to trigger radiance
I got her on my first 10 pull on her banner at around 70 pity. She's fun to have to explore Natlan, you can basically surf on any terrain so you can go faster.

I'm not sure for guarantees but I've seen someone getting capturing radiance but their first 5* was a standard character so something a bit like this:
10 pulls:
1- x
2- x
3- Standard character (5050 loss)
4- x
5- x
6- Mualani (guarantee)
7- x
8- x
9- Mualani (capturing radiance)
10- x
Essentially what I understood from that clip, you can get capturing radiance which could mean more than a single 5* if the first 5* in that multi wasn't the rate-up character lol. But perhaps it means that it could just activate for each individual pull instead of each multi or something, I don't know if that makes sense.
Speaking of 4 star luck… in HSR, after 120 pulls (over the course of 2 banners) I STILL haven’t got this certain 4 star character!

I had a similar issue with Candace where Genshin absolutely refused to give me her. I was excited to see her on Navia's banner, since I didn't have her. Unfortunately, I ended up losing Navia's 50/50 and had to spend 160 pulls to get her. Not a single one of these pulls included Candace despite her being a featured character. I ended up getting her on Navia's weapon banner, but I was already so annoyed by that point.

The first time I pulled on the weapon banner it went exactly as you described. I was guaranteed Ayaka and spent 45 for the wishes to get her because she's my favorite character then got her a little early. Since I had already spent some money and had wishes leftover I decided to take a chance for her weapon. I got it on the first 10 pull!

Yeah, the RNG when it comes to 4 star characters can be ass a metric fuck ton of the time. Back during Lantern Rite I pulled about as many times as you did in this video trying to get just a single Gaming but ended up with 4 Noelles (of which I did want 2 of those to C6 her) and 6 Faruzan which took her from C0 to C6 (which in hindsight was pretty awesome but at the time annoyed me to no end) and absolutely 0 Gamings... Hell I even got Nahida and then lost a 50/50 on Xianyun and got Qiqi instead. I wouldn't get Gaming until the standard banner came in clutch like 4 months later. And before someone asks why I didn't just pick him during Lantern Rite, I couldn't because I still didn't have Xingqiu who had also managed to allude me after dozens of ten pulls towards banners he was on.
man would it kill hoyo to add like a special toggle where you can choose the 4 star and they give it a boost over the other 2 4 stars in the banner? like when you get a 4 star, it has a 60% chance to be the one that you wanted of the featured ones?? but i guess it would cut into all the money they make in making it so hard to get 4 stars, especially as the 4 star pool increases

oh my god the weapon DOES look like the w-engine from zzz. that was making me go insane because it looked really familiar to me but i couldn't figure out why
I'm happy I got Mualani even if I was disappointed I found out that Kachina also has the locator skill and that's part of why I got her, but I can also run Vape Nilou on my C3 Nilou I got in 110 pulls (I was just aiming for cons on all the 4 stars and I ended up walking away with more Nilous than Kirara + Ningguang combined, and a Dehya for good measure lol), and I got double Mualani in the 10 pull I got her at like 90 summons (I was pity broken by Jean at around 20 which I'm not upset about at all).

Our 4 star experience is so different. I c6’d Kachina and Xinyan this banner in about 100 pulls but my 5star pulls always go to max pity
I had 70 wishes 0 pity spent them all got a few much needed bennet cons but hope I get the new mechanic so next five star is guaranteed so I can save for furina reliably don’t mind if I get Mulani tbh cuz I was mainly going for bennet cons

as far as i understand, radience works like this:
you have a 5050 to win. you cant trigger it during your first pulls even if you lost a 5050 before 5.0. if you lose the 5050, you get a guarrantee next time. you get the guarrantee, and then you have another 5050 to win, but this time its a 5545. you lose that, get another guarrantee, and then next 5050 its actually a 7525 and so on and so forth until you lose enough 5050s to guarrantee a 5star even though its not technically a 5050 (50% to win, 50% to trigger radience)
I got Kazuha, c4 kachina, c1 benny and c2 xinyan from 10,000 primos, and at 70 pity from previous weapon, got freedom sworn and skyward harp.
Wait. Even on a guaranteed you might still see the animation. If you get a double 5 star there’s a chance you still lose the 50/50 after you get your guarantee and then the animation kicks in.
Hard agree with the 4* drops. I had a well over 150 wishes saved (f2p) for Kaveh's first banner (Baizhu and Ganyu), I bagged Baizhu and Ganyu but I came home with 1 Kaveh. It was stupid. 😭 I only got a single copy when I kept grinding after I used up all 150 wishes. I was so sad. 💀

Let me share my pain in pulling for 4*s, or at least one 4* in particular: Kaveh.
On his debut banner, I got Baizhu, Mona, Ganyu, and another Ganyu before I saw even one Kaveh. I actually regret it, because I didn’t want c1 Ganyu. If it had occurred to me that I might get a FOURTH 5*, I would have switched back to Baizhu’s banner instead. Then came Nilou’s banner, and with it Kaveh’s first rerun. I wasn’t even going to pull for Nilou. I was on the fence about her. But Kaveh was on the banner, and I wanted revenge. I got three Kavehs alongside Tighnari and Nilou.
All in all, I got four copies of the 4* I wanted in the same number of pulls as it took me to get six 5*s. It’s absurd. I don’t whale in this game. At all. I’ve never topped up. Which means every pull counts. So not getting the 4* I want really hurts. Kaveh isn’t even good…
