Hey Chris! Always love watching your reactions. This was one of two songs we recorded with Dakota (towards a new album) before he left the band. But when he quit, it didn’t feel right not releasing these last songs we wrote with him. So to honor his time with us, we decided to put them out. Letting Go was originally about a past relationship for Dakota, but I didn’t write my lyrics until he had already departed HF, so to me it became about losing my relationship with him. He had to let go of Hollow Front for his own good. We’ve had a very rough couple of years and the stress and strain caused him to leave. I don’t blame him for quitting. I almost quit as well, but HF is embedded into my soul, so I plan on pushing this project on for as long as I possibly can. Times may have fallen extremely hard on the band and sometimes it feels easier to let things go and move on. I just refuse to give up. While it’s a major loss, and completely devastated us, I know Dakota will be back to making music again someday and we can’t wait to support him. As for the future, there will be no replacement, because Dakota is irreplaceable. So from now on, I will be the only vocalist, taking on both screaming and singing roles.
