- Mountaineering tour to Cilindro de Marboré, or Pico Cilindro, at 3.328 metres on 4th and 5th of July 2020.
A nice tour that runs straight through the beautiful valley of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. We started from La Pradera, where we parked and from there crossed the whole valley until we reached, the breathtaking waterfalls of Cola de Caballo. There we started climbing through Clavijas de Oaso, reaching the green meadows of Refugio Góriz by sunset. We set up our bivouac and slept under the stars (more like under the moon, actually difficult to sleep under such bright light!).
The next morning we started early towards Lago Helado, where it was no longer possible to stay in shorts, so as we put on our crampons I switched to proper pants. Through a long snowfield you reach the col that connects Pico Pitón SW de Cilindro with Cilindro. I quickly scrambled up the sidepeak (which counts as a 3000er itself) and the faced the "crux" of the ascension. It wasn't difficult to climb over the 12 metres of III+ rock. From there on, it was just a matter of following the meandering ridge towards the summit.
Another great (but long) weekend out with Club Alpino Barcelona, first time back in the mountains after the weird start of the year!
Filmed on GoPro Hero 7 Black, Sony A6500 and some iPhone footage.

ALBERTO ALVAREZ muchas gracias!
Awesome. Want to see more
Octavian211969 thank you! More coming very soon, and in much higher altitude 😉
@@PhilippKlein muchas gracias ;)
Great video!! Congratulations. Curiosity: what program did you use to edit the video?
Best regards
Thank you! I used Final Cut Pro, but you could use any program! 😉
@@PhilippKlein it’s amazing all your videos
According to on-line translation: The Spanish 'Peridido' means 'Lost' So Monte Perdido would translate to 'Lost Mountain'. Any1 know why the Spanish named it 'The Lost Mountain'? Because I think I have found it.
Hahaha that is hilarious! 😂 brought a smile to my face, thanks Michael!
@@PhilippKlein Locally here where I live when we find some lost property we can take it to our local 'Lost & Found in the local Police Station. But different rules have to apply to a Pyreneian Mountain on account of the Police Station and Police Station door is not yet large enough. I guess it's too large even for the doorway of the Madrid Police Station. Locally if no one claims legal possession then the finder becomes the official keeper. I have fould a lot of mountains previously but never a lost mountain.
@@MikeGreenwood51 hahaha Well it’s all yours if you wanna take it home 😂
@@PhilippKlein No. I tend to leave all my found mountains where I found them. If I started trying to move it then I'd likely find it was not a free standing mountain and was supported on numerous sides by its smaller neighbours. So removable tends not to be an option. The option choosen would be to grow it a little more and then develop it as an independent tax free haven. But first the local country goverments would need to agree it is entirly lost and wholly unwanted. But you know, as is often the case with Lost Moutains. As soon as a finder finds it as lost then goverments some times also find it is not so lost as they formerly implied. That's why in part it is important to ask first and find out if it is really as lost as those responsible for it really intend. So my intention would be to leave the mass majority exactly where it has stood for the last few thousand years. The snow can stay as well, this year.
Monte Perdido or as you translate literally "The lost mountain" is named like this way because from France, which they named "The mont Perdu" is hard to see from near. It is hidden for another almost as tall peaks as Astazou, Marboré or Cilindro. In Ordesa or Pineta valleys you can't see the mountain until reach the upper part
qué grado tiene esa última parte de escalada? por curiosidad... gracias!
KEIVY PRODUCTIONS es un III+ VI- (poco apretado). Subimos en free solo y bajamos rapelando :)
