    Once u apply the durabond do u put the tape over the joint immediately or do u let the durabond set and then throw some all purpose on it followed by tape?

    • @THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1
      @THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1  4 года назад +1

      Yes I'll let the Durban set and then I tape it with all purpose

      @@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 thanks for the response. What about the butt joint being raised after the AP goes over ur first coat of durabond? In other words pre filling won’t affect anything?

      Just make sure it's flared out far enough it should be fine

      John, I guess you haven't seen some of the eariler videos 😆. I can't remember which one but clearly everyone thinks another awesome lesson is just a click away, then Doc rambles on forever and then cut the video with him saying " stick around for " whatever the title was.

    when filling the seams with durabond. Do you let the durabond dry before you tape the seam with a all purpose ? Thank you , great video

    I agree on the pre fills for sure. But those nasty paper tears can have real problem blistering. I now use a product called Gardz for sealing those areas. It's like a paint/glue and it dries in an hour and no blisters.

  • @Tman2217

    Hey, bud good video. But when you're talking about prep work like cut and fill, I think it's important to go over blisters, stripped screws, butt joints with messed up edges you need to cut otherwise they will blister when they get wet, things like that. I have encountered some pretty nasty blisters in my day. Even had to have the hangers cut the drywall out to put another piece in because the blister took a huge chunk out of it. It's important to get cut and fill done and start on the screws on day 1 so when day 2 comes around, you can start stringing tape.

    Hey Mister Drywall doctor, I see you apply the cement in the butt joints seam, is that how you do it or do you cut live "V" in between the butt joints to fill it. ? Or do you have a video prefilling butt joints? Thank you in advance.

    So I guess I'm just a little confused. So do you pre-fill the entire seam with Dura Bond and let it dry. And then after it dries you start taping? Because don't you now have a flush joint after prefilling with Dura Bond and then when you add tape are now protruding past the drywall? I understand this happens with butt joints but it didn't realize you do that with seams as well.

    Thanks for the video! Do you tape right over this while the durabond is still wet, or do you wait for it to dry?

      Sorry it's the one step that i can't seem to find a video for-- for going over durabond after it's already dried.

    What bothers me as a taper is a poor drywall job. We often have to fill so much that could have been prevented. Missed screws, damaged joints, ruffed paper it's all is a pain. There are a lot of sloppy drywall installers in my area.

    Ummm drywall doctor if u fill a butt joint with durabond before taping it...YOUR MAKING THE BUTT JOINT WORSE CAUSE IT WILL PUSH OUT.... what state are you in just curious cause I've never seen you do any work in a new residential house ALWAYS basements or patches

      I can't find sheetrock dura bond here any more home Depot just has the easy sand stuff.and that pro form quick set sucks to work with and really hard on tools , and my supplier said sheetrock quit making it and I do alot of plaster and drywall repair jobs and the durabond is good for that I have used it to laminate drywall to block foundations with no fasteners just a few braces over night , they call that ,dot and dab and hope you can tape it the next day before it falls off the wall , but it held for 27 years , but will the outher pro form brand be the same I never used it much , do you use it or can you still get the usg stuff

    All my ceiling joints running perpendicular to the trusses are cracking. The cracks run further after a patch. Could I put Durabond 90 on the back (attic) side to stop the cracks from running?? I have a large spray foam attic so the back is easy to get to. Thanks!

    • @ktr831
      @ktr831 7 лет назад

      It is def paper. Ive already ripped one joint out and repaired from wall to wall ( 30' across ) with mesh and all purpose before I watched your videos. The other cracks are 5' to 10' each so if I could stop the cracks, it would be alot less work.

      I didnt think of that. I plan on adding some beams to define the living room from the kitchen and dining room. Maybe I can hide some under the false beams. Thanks!

    Is Durabond 20 designed to work without taping when repairing a small access hole cut into drywall? I occasionally need to cut open drywall in houses to run new electrical wiring, so I need to use the same cutout to re-patch the wall after the job. I use part of a 5-gallon paint stick as a backer, then screw the drywall cutout to that. I've never used tape for this, but other drywall guys have told me it will crack if I don't use tape. However, I've never had them crack if I use Durabond.

    • @Jeff-xy7fv

      OK. Is that the same as the mesh tape at the Home Depot?

      No tape needed for patches just use all purpose and u will b fine.
